Train for a whole week and NOT need to go through the up and downs to get into code S, which are pretty violent format wise/ Yet R3 losers are treated the same as R2 losers in the Up and Downs.
Only 2 of 5 players make it out of the up-and-own groups. It is a tremendous opportunity to get to Code S by winning one best-of-3 than a round robin with 4 other players where even a winnig record won't guarantee your advancement (tiebreakers). Is it the most dramatic advantage in the world? No.
We understand you don't like the format. It is true that this round is the least meaningful in the GSL, but it is still a solid system and isn't worth incessantly whining about. I suggest a sternly worded email to GOM if you want to belabor the point.

HOLY CRAP! I MISSED AN EPIC DAY OF GSL!!!

There are always going to be some "unfairness" in each format. But I can tell you that all the players playing in Ro32 wanted to advance so they have an opportunity to tr y to win one more set and get straight to Code S. Up and Downs are very stressful.
If you want to point out unfair things in the format, the 3rd place and 4th from ro16 is actually put in the same position in Ro 24. That is more "unfair" if you want to call it that. But again, there isn't a perfectly fair format given the number of players and time constraints.

6 Terrans, oh god. This is getting back to GomTvT days. Hopefully some Zerg pull through next round.

im somewhat happy that nestea lost today. dont get me wrong, im a huge fan, but he hasnt been himself lately and hopefully this will be the wakeup call. I Doubt he wants to spend another month in Code A, so hopefully this loss will prompt him to get his shit togheter.

To those complaining that the system is "unfair". If it's unfair, ask any of the winners today if they would want to swap places with the loser.... *crickets*

Yes, because that is perfect logic.

Otherwise it would make the code A games completley pointless... Round 1 of Code A :: Advancement = R2, Elimination = out of the GSL Round 2 of Code A :: Advancement = R3, Elimination = Up & Down matches Round 3 of Code A :: Advancement = Code S, Elimination = Up & Down matches So losing in Round 2 of Code A has literary no consequenses when it comes to your chance of advancing to code S? sounds like a pretty stupid format to me....
No it's a good format.. it gives players another chance, so they try really hard for it.

Seeker, by your dad's school do you mean the school he is sending you to, the school that he owns, or the school he is going to?

Fuck yeah Pretender

Hmm. Went 6/8 on liquidbets both days. 75% aint bad i guess. Sad to see Nestea go to up and downs though. Can someone clarify how qualification for next seasons code S works please. Its top 8 from this code S, 12 from code A and 12 from up and downs. Is that right?
|
The new format must be very stressful for the players. but it guarantees higher quality games in Code S since it will always include the best performing players right now, instead of players that were good 5 months ago and kept their spot because it was much harder to fall out of code S than to get in.
