If they thought that a re-game was the right choice they wouldn't have taken 15+minutes to decide. Whoever it came down to to make the decision didn't have the balls to give the game to parting. MKP is primes everything. If the series went 3-1 in favor of ST with MKP out of the picture ST is basically on the verge of taking the whole thing. But if they re-game they just start from scratch and the Bo9 will continue basically even. GOM (or just some ref) took the easy way out.

I was enjoying this finals more than anything so far in SC2. I was fucking pumped my heart was racing and then after Parting lost the re-game i felt sick to my stomach. It's so sad. It was shaping up to be one of the best SC2 events and played out in such a depressing way

Actually it's the other way around: it's generally the default position to go to a regame. Unless you actually think one player had the win clearly, it takes almost no time to decide a regame. That it took this long means a lot of them were leaning towards giving it to parting.

That is what i said

If they thought that a re-game was the right choice they wouldn't have taken 15+minutes to decide.

Ah I misread, sorry.

I think most people looking at the game would say that Parting had AT LEAST a 90% chance to win that game. But then they bring it back to 50/50 because it's not 100% clear. There was also probably business reasons that affected that decision. You have MKP, one of the most popular players in the game and the ace of Prime playing after all.

The thing they SHOULD have done imo that would have been MUCH more fair is award the win to Parting, change Parting vs. MKP to a bo3.

The thing is, it's not 50/50. In korea, winrates on average have TvP heavily favoring the terran, and I mean heavily. Even parting, who is probably the best PvT player in the world right now, has a bad record against MKP, so it's more like a 30-40% chance for parting in a regame. Taking away the win he had earned is a HUGE blow when you beat someone whom you generally don't beat.

I see where this is going.

Patch notes:
Balance changes.
Terran:
All disconnects will count as losses regardless of who disconnected.
Reason: Whinging on TL, like most of our balance changes.

This thing is not about the lack of LAN, that would not solve disconnect problems related to computers suddently crashing/overheating.

A save/reload game function like warcraft 3, or a disconnect/rejoin one like dota 2 would be much much much better than LAN will ever be.

no latency would be pretty nice, don't you think?

i like this idea

it also makes the most sense given that blizzard has said they would have to essentially rebuild the entire multiplayer aspect of the game to add in lan

Yes but doubt lan will happen. At least save state and reconnect functions wont change how you still require bnet to operate which gets blizzard what they want

I wonder what the Korean netizens think about this. Anyway, gratz to Prime for winning their 1st GSTL.

they don't need to even do that.

actually the most simple of fixes is actually blizzard lending (as part of the sponsorship) a battle.net server connected locally on lan, you probably don't even need a huge machine since it 'll be running a couple of matches at a single time.

The most expensive thing of this is probably paying a blizzard guy to run the whole thing on site.

The decision was made by the gom officials so I don't think it is fair to blame MKP or prime. In their position, most people would just take the call of the referees. Happens in other sports all the time.

Just watched the vod, so I'm LTTP on giving my thoughts. All I can say is I have a massive loss of respect for GOM/GOMs referees. I honestly think they just chose the easy way out and thus the end result is 13 weeks of time wasted. Wont be watching future GSTLs.

lol, terran tier 1 units beating toss tier 3 units for 20 minutes and winning the game. Not sure why I even watch this anymore. Yes, Terran suck upon the tits of blizzard's favorite race. Er.. I mean... wow! so much skill!! that tier 1 unit usage was so amazing!!!!

I don't care how good your marine/marauder micro is. One tier 1 unit composition should not be able to beat tier 3 for 20 minutes and then win the game.

But the noobs love it, so what does it matter.
