Let's have a nice clean LR thread folks! Beware that moderation will probably be stricter than usual, balance whine, player bashing and trolling will not be tolerated! |

I guess they'll get someone in through a sponsor seed anyway.

Overall he just turtled and let MVP get the most expensive army in the history of history and got rolled by it.
Roaches and lings that late into the game, what are you smoking? rofl Mvp also had some planetary fortress and tanks.

They were on equal bases, and Lucky had like 5k minerals banked up to Mvp's 1k. He wasn't behind. He was cause he had nothing to stop MVP from messing around that crazy, Lucky had to play extremly passive. MVP did harass the whole game, did you see any harassment worth mentioning from Lucky? I dont think so... You just cant let MVP play whatever he wants.

Hrm? There was a ton of harass, MVP hit two seperate timings, one of which killed 20 or so drones and a hatch, the other which Lucky held with a nice roach flank. It quieted down a bit once it hit the 4 base stage but there was still plenty of things going on all over the map. There were lots of nice little things too like Lucky getting OS speed so his muta + OS could be a mobile ghost sniper, having patrolling OS's on the pathways to avoid cloaked ghosts sneaking up on him etc. MVP did that awesome nuke drop and set aside one ghost to snipe out incoming overseers while his other ghosts did the actual nuking.
There was a lot of really high level play from both, and the action was pretty constant for what was basically a split map scenario.

Yes, Lucky was behind in other resources... kinda.
Lucky bungled the attack and let the ghosts live, ran out of gas to get another ultimate composition with, while losing all his hatcheries so had no larvae.
He wasn't 'behind' when they were both maxed out, but MVP just knows what to do when it becomes a max vs max turtling game and Lucky didn't stop him.

Lucky had a huge bank, but he had no hatches for larvae to mass reproduce, he was kinda forced into making ultras

Turtling terrans can get crushed easily (see: Leenock vs ForGG). What MVP does, isn't just pure turtling but getting the ultimate composition with ghosts while doing mass-drops to kill off the 4th/5th/6th bases to starve off the Zerg and reduce their re-max capabilities.
yea, i agree. terran is just so well equiped for these scenarios, if a player of MVPs caliber is in command and has the apm/understanding to pull it off. 3/3 marine drops really are a mayor part of the strategy.
ot: kind of funny imagining a 8 ling drop (or lets say 16 lings = same supply) destroying 3 bunkers and a oc/pf.

Lucky was behind, he lost a base and tonnes of drones. He was CONSTANTLY getting harrassed as mvp macroed up an insane unit comp. No offence to Lucky but Mvp is the best player in the world and that shouldve looked more onesided in mvps favour after sniping so many drones and hatch so early.

On January 11 2012 21:53 bittman wrote:Nah ghost whine inc. Something about how it counters everything Zerg or something silly MVP was insanely far ahead. It's normally the zerg that forces lategame and forces a response from terran. That game MVP just kind of said "look I can win you right here, but lets go lategame" and started making the perfect combo of units and defensive PFs. When your opponent gets enough ghosts, pfs and nukes, sure it can get hard to hold onto, but aside from MVP being insanely good, the only reason it worked so well there was that he went quite smoothly into the "tier 3 can't touch me" ball by being ahead.
In an even game, you can't just make 30 ghosts, It takes way to long, and then pure ling bling can walk over it(if there weren't PFs around and he didn't force the zerg to attack the terran's home turf).

i'm not into terran player, but that last game, mvp played really cool. Nuke, bc!

Lolwut? Do you people even play this game? I can bank a ton of fucking money and still be behind in macro, army size and composition, tech, any number of things.

ghost are NOT good against lings... sure they 2 shot them, but with such slow attack speed and ling's incredible dps lings will destroy ghosts at just 1/2 resource costs.
Ultra/bane/ling is actually decent against heavy ghost composition. Ultra can tank 11 snipes, and bane/ling forces ghost to either die and snipe ultras or run and try to get away
anyway, I don't see why zerg don't just use heavy brood + queens. Queens transfuse outheal snipes dmg easily, and they can do so at 15 yards away from the ghosts

MVP is truly the best player.

I'm kinda sad because of Idra, but at least my liquibet is clean today.

Ultra/banes with some Infestors to Fungal the Ghost squad does work.

the last game was awesome xD
i bet mvp thought he had it when he killed the 3rd and 20 drones for free, but the push failed... and then we had a crazy endgame unfold, he could have forced the issue one more time i think, but instead he let things equalize and showed his answer to game 1 as a matter of pride xD
hellyeah!
