Hello Everyone!
I’m excited to be able to announce the first Antarctic Cup tournament hosted by www.z33k.com! On behalf of the organization team, I’d like to invite anyone and everyone to participate in this hopefully awesome tournament boasting a prize pool of $250. The tournament will be played on the 17th of December on the European server at 20:00 CEST (Check in begins 19:30 CEST). This event will be cast from replays, so we would like to request that you do not stream your games. Do feel free to redirect your fans and viewers to our stream for the casting of the tournament though!

Rough Playing Schedule (subject to accommodation):
Naturally, we understand that games can go on for ages, so if you’re late for a game because of your previous round, we will understand. We would like to aim to start as close to these times as possible (or earlier, if both players are ready), but if your opponent happens to have a best of 3 with 3 intensely long games, do have some sympathy!

Anyone else notice the irony of the Antarctic Cup being played on the European server?
Maybe try calling it Capture the North Pole #1 or something.

Sadly, we weren't able to convince Blizz to open an Antarctica server for the tournament, so we had to relocate to EU.

Mainly because I'm PengWin (Penguin) and I'm organizing it, and then everyone who's helping me liked the name so we stuck with it.

To alleviate any potential concerns about the prize, z33k has received the money and we will be paying out within 24 hours of the event ending.

Added a "GM's + notable signups" section. Check back every now and then to see who our top favorites are! And don't forget to sign up for a chance to prove your skill against one of them!

You are probably missing out on alot of high level players because this kind of clashes with the HomeStory cup 4 European qualifier. I'll try to play in both, we'll see how it goes.

Given that Antartica is populated mainly by scientists, I'm sure they would play SC2... if it had LAN.

Ah that makes sense, Seala. Tried to make it on a weekend where nothing was going on, didn't check for Homestory Cup stuff though. Bah, humbug. We'll see how it goes.

ANNOUNCEMENT: We will be altering the time to 19:00 CEST to ease the clashing with HomeStory Cup #4 qualifiers. This will, hopefully, allow players knocked out before the latter stages to participate.

should be 20:00 CEST. In other words, 2 hours and 15 minutes until it kicks off. We delayed it by an hour so it would class less with homestory cup.

OK so based on viewer numbers, we've come up with some better publicity ideas (mainly TL calendar), and as a result casting will be postponed until January 2nd and 3rd. It will now be a 2 day casting event, with us casting the first 4 rounds on day 1, and the quarterfinals-finals on day 2. This will allow us to cover a lot more of the games, which is ideal given the number of high level signups that we had. Next time, we will ideally have a good number of viewers
