Watch how you approach the topic of match fixing. You can speculate, saying "I'm not so sure about the finals, something doesn't sit right with me," but if you are going to outright accuse players of match fixing you need something more than your word.
TL takes match fixing/abuse seriously and as such there is a burden a proof when you are accusing players.

But I think it wasn't a given game on purpose... when his greater spire was done... He had enough BL but went for the production facilities... and that was game... he killed a CC, few buildings... not much... the ghosts saved the base but MVP lost almost nothing of his army
That was the wrong decision... that was supposed to be the fight with these BL... where was the fight?
For every Zerg and NesTea fans... yes that last game was so poor... these tanks at the center map were there forever... there wasn't even a PF when he morphed the BL
Then he tried Nydus, switched to Ultra and did a doom drop to kill supply depots and a rax or two... same thing he almost killed nothing of the army...
why sacrificing his army for few buildings when army are never trade...
Maybe NesTea was pissed off himself when he knew he would not win vs a max terran who never lost his center position (his tanks in other words...)
that game was poor... because we expected so much from the god of zerg... T^T NesTea might want to wait till HotS before beeing bonjwa because wol if for terrans (ha ha...) try to make sense next time

Then David Kim comes out tooling a terran T-Shirt. Ok then, nerf Ghosts so that Terran has no late-game and is a cheese/all-in only race, good idea.
I didn't say any of that, that's all you bud.

Best Finals in a long long time. Great last game by both players and Congrats to Mvp!

Guys, look at it this way.....
Blizzcon Tournament - Showmatch
GSL Finals - Real Tournament

I'm not usually a guy who whines like this, but watching the game at home and not reading the LR thread... I found the last game really strange. NesTea really should have took it without any problems, but played very strangely and eventually lost the game. To me, it really looked like they had agreed to split the pot and did not really care about the final game. I did not enjoy the last game at all; rather, I would consider it a disgrace to starcraft. This was a final between the best two players in the world; unless something funky is going on, it should not look like this,
Still. Great games before the last one, but I left the series feeling rather disappointed.
Edit:
Dear Blizz,
Thanks for running a big tourney with some huge names and excellent casters, all for free. Can't wait to see it again next year.
love
Weird
That is bloody true. It's been a great weekend, even with this disappointing end. But I am still left a little unhappy

lol reading reddit is a shit storm right now, at least there's some levelheaded people in TL...
My conclusion is they put on a good show and some good games, they are both teammates and good friends, so who cares?

It's hard to explain something that exists only in your perception of the game.
Nestea did rebuild his expansions, in fact, he did that more than once. The problem is, once he lost the first of his expansions and the static defense associated with it, MVP started winning the multitasking war. I think you're severely underappreciating the effort it requires to keep up with a pro terran's multitasking-based warfare for 10 minutes like Nestea did. For all the people claiming that an average gold player would've done better - I'm high diamond and I'd crumble in under 30 seconds under similar pressure that Nestea endured for 10 minutes. It's easy to devise perfect counters and make perfect decisions on maphack (which having obs' vision is in terms of making gameplay decisions).
Nestea lost this game on a strategic level - he didn't have any long term plans to successively chirp away at the terran and dismantle his defenses step by step. What you're ignoring is the fact that he tried for over 20 minutes - but MVP simply had the better strategy. Which is why I've thoroughly enjoyed this game - due to the strategic back-and-forth games which MVP came up on top in.

I don't know if it was rigged or not, but I can't believe the best Zerg in the world would throw 27 broodlords just like that without any supports and leaving his lings/blings behind. Maybe he was in a very very very bronze player mood but meh

Eh those two are the probably the best 2 players at the moment. Top 5 for sure. But we will never know for sure which of the two is better until we see how the practice matches go or one of them leaves the team.
And that upsets people, which I get.

The only terran ground unit that's worse against lings than ghosts are Thors without support. Actually, without detection, ghosts would wreck lings since they do extra damage to light units, They 2 shot lings. And for each ghost you can get 8 lings without having to spend any gas. Guess if a ghost can kill 8 lings, and guess which unit remakes the fastest with 15k minerals stockpiled. I have some news for you: The ghost weren't alone. With PF, tanks, medivac, it doesnt' matter how many lings you have, you will never kill the ghosts. I have some news for you. You don't need to only make lings. The entire argument is a WHAT KONTERS MASS GHOST OMAGID!, and the simple answer is that lings are great against them. If you're going to go with a match specific encounter, then no shit there are other things to take into account.
Lings vs PF + tanks + ghosts + medivacs aren't a 100% sure way win (especially since the planetary with armor will take minimal damage from lings).
Putting them in drops isn't a sure answer either (they're vulnerable in the overlords).

On October 23 2011 10:09 Ilintar wrote: Okay, I seriously don't see how people are claiming this game was a) bad, b) fixed. You have a game where the top pros are basically executing a dance of strategies and counters for 40 minutes and you claim the game was rigged because one of them came up on top?
To address the most common points:
1) Why didn't Nestea just make spines everywhere? He did, MVP just picked them out one by one. You're so focused on Nestea "donating" Brood Lords, you're seemingly forgetting about the dozen or so drops MVP threw away before he actually started chipping into the zerg empire.
2) Why did Nestea just attack with mass Brood Lords? He was probably actually counting on overpowering the ghost army - if he managed to kill those, he could basically demolish MVP's entire ground defense since remaking the ghosts would take such a huge amount of time. It might've worked, too, if not for the 15 or so vikings. There are only so many snipes the ghosts have energy for.
3) Why the doomdrop? A lot of people are contradicting themselves here. First you say Nestea was stupid for not trading armies, then you criticize the doomdrop - for Nestea, this was probably the perceived most cost-efficient way of trading armies. He probably didn't take into consideration how quickly his overlords would get sniped.
4) Why not just make a ton of lings and throw them at the ghosts? Because MVP had sensor towers and the ghosts were behind a nice line of PFs and siege tanks. Reportedly, mass lings don't do too well vs. either.
5) Why not just wait, bank minerals, save larvas and prepare for the terran attack? That's exactly what Nestea tried to do. For quite a long time, he succeeded - he repelled all the drops and managed to defend the bottom expo. The problem is, once he let some drops do damage, his entire defense began to unravel due to the multitasking demands.
1) He did at first but then he stopped, why? He had plenty of resources for it.
2) It might have worked if the broodlings could see the ghosts, but Nestea didn't bother to bring overseers. Also some air support would have been nice against those vikings don't you think?
3) Doomdrop was a good idea, Nestea just executed it at bronze level. Didn't drop everything, left units like ultralisks at the corner of MVP's main not doing anything. Had a ton of banelings inside overlords that he didn't bother dropping. He pulled the overlords to MVP's army without dropping, pretty much telling MVP please kill my overlords filled with expensive units.
4) Giant waves of lings and blings could have torn that up. Takes only 16 blings to kill a PF, at one point in the game Nestea had like 120 banelings. Nestea had more than enough resources to send nonstop waves of ling blings.
5) That's the key point, he let the drops do damage. He stopped fungaling the dropships, he stopped making mutas, he let his hatches fall and he didn't remake them even though he had tons of resources.

I can't believe the amount of whine, and suggesting that this match was rigged.
Ghosts are EASILY killed by Mass Lings, remember the game where Darkforce and MVP got to the late game and the exact same scenario happened? MVP was easily cleaned up with mass Ling. Nestea messed up, bad. Even a mid tier foreigner had an answer for this.
