And I love how Inori is suddenly getting a lot of hype alongside his teammate Lucky - this being their first LAN tournament and the results they showed? Geez. Yeah, but I feel lucky and inori's hype is similar to Ace and Squirtle's from last year.. pretty much undeserved. As for Stephano, he's skillful enough to win matches from high caliber players, we'll see how good he is at being consistent now that his play style will be scrutinized and he suddenly became a bigger target.

Last night (US East coast time) there was tons of blind hate and (a few) random worshipping toward Stephano. I come back to the thread and I find it to have softened up a lot, surprisingly matching Europe's wake up. In short: NA still quite doesnt know who is this Stephano dude and has hard time to identify itself with such a weird phenomenon. EU has figured it out for quite a while and is pretty proud to have birthed another international competitive beast. Meanwhile, KR is like "get those replays we gotta have to retro-engineer this shiznit AFAP. This kid shall not pass!!".

Lucky did ok in Code A, losing in the third round to Sage, and went 7-2 against the Slayers' terrans at IPL, who were known for their strong TvZ-style for a while. I wouldn't even agree that his ZvZ sucks, at least he has beaten Violet, Ret, Machine and Haypro before reaching the final, only dropping a single game to Violet. Let's see what he can do against an all terran group in the Up-and-Down Matches!

Undeserved? Lucky beat Boxer-Ryung-MMA (and Ret). That's a crazy amount of ZvT to win, considering who those players are. We don't even know what would have happened had Stephano had to go through players like that (whom I will say MMA/Ryung has better TvZ then TheStC, and maybe even Boxer. ).

Coca yes he is a contender for the top 4 place but i think that Stephanos 1 place victory was more impressive than cocas 2 place MLG run. if you count the qualifier he had to go through. and Ret at his best is one of the best. But he is also very unstable. plays perfect one game and totally messes up the next game. But this kind of things are so subjective. And so hard. I think we can all agree on 1.Nestea and 2.losira. after that it becomes a lot harder. But i would say 1. Nestea 2. Losira 3. DRG 4. Stephano(very close 3) 5. Coca 6. Idra After that it i think it becomes just to close to call In that sense, who's to say Stephano won't die out in a few months? Maybe MC-style, 2 time GSL champion losing to a no-name Protoss' first LAN event? Though, in this context, Stephano would indeed be quite high on that list. Still - Losira ain't so hot recently. Coca's makin' better waves in terms of progress, though.

Meanwhile, KR is like "get those replays we gotta have to retro-engineer this shiznit AFAP. This kid shall not pass!!". I remember a lot of the posts saying shit like "Stephano > Mvp" and "1. Stephano 2. Nestea" were coming from European countries. That probably sparked the reaction from NA. Not everyone were downplaying Stephano, they were downplaying the overhype created by flavor-of-the-month obsessions. Remember when Huk won Dreamhack? Yeah, exactly. And no, I doubt the Koreans are worried about Stephano. They probably see him as another foreigner who comes to Korea expecting to make it big yet get eliminated in the first round of Code A. Maybe he'll prove them wrong, who knows?

Stephano has the "It" factor. There is some switch in his brain that switches on razor sharp split second decision making and an almost supernatural calm and focus when he is playing. You can see it on the screen during the game. And you can see it when you look at him playing in the booth. As the pressure went up? And the matches were more high stakes? He just dialed it in harder. The decisions were more split second, more on point, more devastating. And he was totally unshakable by the situation, the crowd, the lights, the hype ... nothing shook that focus when it counted. I am telling you this kid is the real deal man. He's got the genetic skills to go through Code S like a hot knife thru buttah.
