both players cheesed , puma had better decision making (or heroes was just bad (the nexus)) but somehow people on hero. :|
Go dig a hole and get inside. PROXY IS NOT CHEESE!!!!!!! And nothing that toss does can compare to 1-1-1. Also, Hero made lots of better decisions in that one game. I don't know why I am answering to you.
What better decisions did Hero make? Losing his VR for nothing? Going DTs against someone who has Ravens and is in the process of all-in attacking you? Saving to make a nexus against 0 economy where all he has to do is hold and he wins? Not forcefielding his ramp which would have given him time to get enough units? So many mistakes from Hero. Puma doesn't do anything special but he's just really solid and makes no big blunders.
He pressured quite well with the vr, DTs were for archons first and a despo move, nexus part a ton of people have explained it, ff a ramp when there's a tank/banshee? Did you not see his double ff?

I completely agree. He couldn't get out gateways in time.
that's not a excuse for putting down a nexus. that's him not macroing well on 4gates 1 base
Are you serious? Did you not see the constant chrono on the gates?
Are YOU kidding? If you can't keep your money low on 1 base with 4 gates and 1 robo (+ DT tech and upgrades) you are doing it wrong, honestly.
You're blind. HerO's gates got destroyed during the contain, thus causing him to not have enough production.
Jeez, makes me wonder if you guys were even watching the game.

When the DT went in Puma's main, I figured Hero should target down the tech lab on the starport first so that Puma can't build more Raven since the OC didn't have enough energy for a scan anyway and there's no other way to detect the DTs.
I'm not sure if Painuser is right about there being a second raven. I didn't see the first one go down. He may have just flew it back.
I believe the first one go down since the phoenix damage until the raven was like 2 shots away from dying, and when they finally engage, Puma had no detection for the DT. It seem Puma built another one and use that to detect the DT in his base.

But don't put him in the bracket of MC, Nestea or MVP, please. In fact, I wouldn't put him in the same bracket as DRG or Hero. These days, I have trouble rating any terran, it is not clear if he is really good or just knows to abuse certain strategies. Even Bomber is quite like that.
"a good player who can abuse certain features of his race" That pretty much sums up MC's style back then when he was actually winning. Why put him in the same bracket as NesTea and Mvp?

Risk against protoss? Not much, considering it is very easy to kill the protoss while executing horribly. He pulls 90% of his scvs and 6 minutes later, loses all his scvs, and still wins. No other build in the game has such a high reward for such a low risk.
1/1/1 failing is not a big deal if you don't lose all your scvs to one DT.
It's shocking that foreign terrans are not just winning tournaments all over the world given how easy it is. Strange that only Puma seems to be the one that consistently can win tournaments using it. Of course, he wins tons of games without using it...but why bother mentioning that?

umm...then use the money on more production? The nexus was going to do nothing for him.
He was about to be mined out on 1 base. That is not a good time to be warping in gateways.
His income wouldn't even have been able to sustain his existing production buildings. The only reason it was that high was because he had pooled some money while he was replacing the gateways he lost.

Or one day, we will look back and laugh at why protoss had to resort to gimmicky 1 base strats to hold this 1 1 1 push. I'm certain someone will come up with an expansion timing to hold this off. We already saw glimpses of this from Tails.
I never mentioned anything about holding the 1-1-1 in my post. I just thought I should make a hopeful, honest 2k post.
i hope that doesn't happen. i bet you'd love marines to be at BW status

whitera has a good chance though
pattern being that the stronger player won?
that's arguable for puma vs. hero =P but yeah, there weren't that many strong protoss that entered this tournament (except for MC who's been slumping lately and Hero)
I don't understand the hate though. Both players played amazingly well. Puma did incredibly well and made better decisions thats why he won. Don't think most pro terran will be able to control his units as well as puma or make clutch decisions as well as puma.
What I fail to comprehend is how a Terran player can pull all scvs for that amount of time, have all scvs killed by DT's, while protoss player is still mining at full, protoss widdling way scv meatshield then not able to hold with +20 supply?
