MC went to Up and Down because of his overconfidence and foolishness.....he picked MVP instead of anyone else who would have been easy.
Also, maybe theres another thing that is effecting him. I remember he said himself that he felt behind due to constant traveling. He probably just needs to practice more.

just scrap the whole code S/code A system. With the new format I'm tired of seeing the same ppl over and over again with about 5 new faces in code S season. Change the format to a single 64 man tournament, players who make it to round 32 retains spots, losers have to go thru qualifiers next time. This would make things so much more exciting and we would get to see so many more new faces and upsets.
|
Nice, knew Jjakji had it in him, way to go!
MC was always in trouble with so many zergs + Jjajki. Seems a lifetime ago where he was unbeatable against zerg.
|
I was so sure Check would make it! T_T
I thought Jjakji was not quite ready. He apparently is. Best of luck to him!
MC I think is a player who runs on confidence. If he gets past Code A Ro32, consecutive victories may slingshot him back to near the top of Code S!!

Naniwa and Sjow? Really? I'll be surprised if they make it past round 1.

thats when zerg didnt make a macro hatch, or a quick 3rd, the invetion of a super fast 3rd /macro hatch basically crushes any 2 base timing if the zerg gets wind of an all in, for a while ( when mc was un touchable) zerg had no answer to this 2 base timing.. now protoss need somthing new 4gate doesnt work 6 gate rarely works.. 3 base 12 gate timing? :D

As it is you get to see what new player are up and comming in Code A, instead of them having to play Nestea in the first round of a 64 man bracket.

I'm happy with the people who advanced today. Losira and Jjakji really are the best players of that group IMO, and while it's sad to see MC go that's just what you get for losing games I guess. I really hope he gets back into shape, he's a lot of fun to watch but only when he wins
Gogo JYP and TaeJa tomorrow!

Hard to get in, easy to get out. We are talking about the top 64 players in the world here. And it keeps the Code S and Code A varied every season. The new format makes it easier to stay in and harder to get in, because the third place finisher in the group retains his status, while only the fourth place drops. I liked the old format because there was more rotation, which kept things interesting. In the old format 1 code S player always stayed in code s from each up and down group though, because it was always 2 code S 1 code and and 2 spots. So the amount of rotation should be the same at the very least.
Hmm, never thought of it that way. I guess the old one had 24 players jockeying for 16 spots, whereas the new one has 15 players for 6 spots, so it's pretty similar. The matches were bo3 in the old format I think, which was nice.

It's pretty depressing if you're a pro gamer in Korea and you aren't already in Code S. Train for a month to compete for one of 12 spots for code A. Then hope to get nice matchups to get to round 8, then hope to get an easy group to get into code S. This is much harder than the old up/down format. Fail and that's another month wasted as GOMTV is the only game in town. All this while bad players like ensnare keep on getting by. There's no excitement in Code S anymore, it's the same people fighting the same people every time. This also discourages new potential blood from even trying to pick up the game professionally as it's so hard to get into code S.

You probably haven't seen Sjow's performances in MLG Raleigh. When he wins, he looks unstoppable. When he loses, it's either because of a single mistake or because of his macro failing him. Let's just say that he has really great unit control.
Naniwa, well, he's had quite a shaky run in GSTL and Code A last season, but that's simply because he himself said that he's in a rebuilding phase. When he does finish that phase, he should be in tip-top shape. Even in bad shape, he outsmarted and demolished Genius though.

Damn GSL october is gonna be painful to watch. So many protoss failing. I am sad.

With some luck Naniwa could PvP his way into the finals. Sjow on the other hand will get roflstomped in round 1. He might be a good player, but it's a safe bet to say that Koreans are simply better.

I hate how people always rag on guys like Ensnare. He's not as good as MVP, but he's earned his placements every time. Is he weaker than the top Code A guys? Yes. I bet he would beat a good chunk of players who are in Code A right now.
Players get better and worse, you can't complain because Ensnare is playing better than MC right now.

I like SjoW and Naniwa, but let's be realistic... there's no way they're getting Top 8. Depending on their bracket.... MAYBE a RO32 victory, but that is even tough...
