We are talking about the top 64 players in the world here. And it keeps the Code S and Code A varied every season. The new format makes it easier to stay in and harder to get in, because the third place finisher in the group retains his status, while only the fourth place drops. I liked the old format because there was more rotation, which kept things interesting. In the old format 1 code S player always stayed in code s from each up and down group though, because it was always 2 code S 1 code and and 2 spots. So the amount of rotation should be the same at the very least.

The good news is that there were only 2 new Terrans in the Code A qualifiers (Dream and Gumiho), while there were 5Z and 5P who made it into Code A. It suggests both that we might be running out of Terrans coming up, and also that there's a lot of good talent in the other races that has yet to really get a chance to shine.
Fingers crossed a couple of them prove to be serious contenders for Code S spots, rather than bombing out like several have before.

thats because all the Protosses are dropping from Code S haha
At least Code A is something for protosses to looks forward too, hopefully the new patch will be out by the time that starts with some new strategies to be used!!!

it seems unfair that check didnt make it, because runner up yesterday had a 33% winrate and check today had a 50% winrate at the end, but well, obviously you need to win more than half of your games to advance into code s I agree. Mvp was also in Code A and he beat MC so MC should go straight to Code B cuz he's worse. how does that answer match my initial post? No, an appropriate response would have been:
"I played 3 games against my sister, mom and dad and I won 100% but didn't into Code S, even though the guys who did only won 71%"
What does it matter what their winrates is when they didn't play the same opponents. Do you propose one group where every player play 14 games? :s

Let's hope that, or else 50% of Code A will be 4gate PvP or something...

Mathematically it's easier to stay in Code S now, this was probably done because it's been almost a year and it's easier to say that the players in Code S who didn't deserve it rotated out.
Previously:
3rd Place in Group Code S: 75% of remaining in Code S 4th Place: 50%
Now:
3rd Place: 100% 4th Place: 40% (2 in 5 from the Up and Down)
So 4th placers are less likely to stay in Code S, but 3rd placers are guaranteed a spot.
Expected Rotation per Season:
Before: 6 new people per season (75% that Top 8 Code A goes to Code S * 8 groups)
Now: 4.8 (2 [Winner Code A, Winner MLG] + 40% * 7)

Oh poor Check, being up 3-0 and then not making it sucks but the final results are now as expected.

The 2 favorites of the group advanced, don't see how people are complaining about the format, it worked well.

Wait wait I completely missed any announcement about the ESV KR weekly that was supposed to be happening tonight. Did they ever actually make one or do we need to poke Diamond? xD

This is a bad time to be a protoss in Korea :þ. Seems they've been completely figured out. Both Alicia and MC dropping down, the two Protoss powerhouses.

I think some of Genius's games in this season are pretty good. Maybe after the new patch, he can do wonders too.

Noooo Code A is gonna have all the protoss and theyre prolly gonna fight eachother and knock eachother out early

Wow, Byun, Code S July semi-finalist, MC, 2 time GSL winner, welcome to the most stacked Code A tournament so far.
Notably strong players: - Sage - Revival - sC - Tassadar - Naniwa - Sjow - Curious
The point being that any one of these guys can win the tournament.

I know they aren't playing the same opponents, but foreigner protoss seems a lot stronger to me than korean protoss.

This next Code A looks really exciting. Unfortunately a lot of Protosses are going to knock eachother out...it seems. I pretty much hope that Sjow/SC lose though. No more Terrans please.
