Although purely theory crafting, if Tassadar had gone 2-3 voidrays instead of phoenixes and targeted down the pdd, would it have changed the tides of the battle? note: voidrays can target down pdd and they have 6 range, a better option than archons imo.

Hope he doesn't have a ton of marines? They always have a ton of marines with the 1/1/1 push.

For me personally, I think the SCV are a HUGE reason why this attack is soooo good. They buffer so well and can repair so fast. I mean the ranged units of the marines, banshees, and siege tanks go to work while not taking any hits cause of scvs and pdd.

And where are you going to get all that gas from? Or are you saying build just 1 of each gas required units?

like 3 phoenix, 2 immoral, 2 sentry shouldn't be a ton of gas. Add more as time goes by.
Completely ignore stalkers because they aren't great against any of the terran's unit comp.

hmm sounds ok but a robo and stargate cost a lot of gas too ... not sure :S

seems like a lot of prize money going into GSL for it to have that bad of a rep, I'm unfamiliar with other games competitively, what sort of prize money are in the other games that are big in korea?

Let's see, warpgate is 50 gas, stargate is 150 gas, robo is 100 gas. 3 phoenixes is 300 gas, two immortals is 200 gas, and two sentries is 200 gas. That's a total of 1000 gas. I'm pretty sure it takes a dang long time to get that much gas off of one base. If you FE, then your gases are still delayed quite a bit and it takes a long time to build up all of that.

I liked the idea of making the raven going through the armory tech tree until I realized that would totally fuck up the TvT builds we have today

Maybe have pdd be an armory upgrade and then lower the cost of the raven?

^ 250 gas for both buildings so still cheaper then trying to go colossus or temp tech and faster to get. Micro would still be a huge factor in holding

Zealot is high dps, not sure where you got this misinformation from. People seriously underrate how well Zealots do against marine/tank, once they have charge.

Once they have charge being the key thing here. Good luck having enough army and also having the charge upgrade. BTW Tassadar did have charge in game 2.

Tassadar engaged while walking down a ramp in game 2, albeit a wide ramp. There was zero flank.

My theoretical solution to this 1-1-1 all-in is chargelot with HT's using feedback (1 raven and 1 banshee), and storm if you can delay long enough--or archons. If they get cloak, you can afford a robo + obs (200/200 vs 225/175). Scouting and being able to respond to that in time is going to be very difficult. I'd like to think Protosses can find a way to spend that money regardless of your enemy going cloak, if they can find other creative ways to slow down the push.

I like phoenix opening too. Tassadar could have played out game 2 much better if he engaged in a better position as well as flanked. There's so many places I would attempt to snipe the Raven with phoenixes, It might not work, but anything that can buy more time helps.

I felt Tassadar could have won game 2 even after that huge battle. Both pdd's were dropped. There was still a lot of space between the T army and his main. My main worry would be him expanding while I got enough units to break out, except Yoda lost all of those scv's in the battle.

SCVs aren't that standard of a component. Yoda just needed them because his timings were so poor.

The craziest part of this build is that every single component is almost cost effective against the supposed counter unit:

- Stalkers don't do that well against banshees
- Unupgraded zealots don't do that well against marines
- Well Immortal do well against tanks, granted.

But then you have obviously the other pairings that are completely one sided for terran:

Banshee > immortal + zealot
Marines > immortals + stalkers
Tanks > stalkers

No wonder it works very well...

Why not change Banshee damage to 6 (+6 light) x2 or something like that. Doesn't seem too game breaking, but there are already countless terran units with +light bonus...

no, scvs are a huge part of this push and just about everyone that does it pulls at least like 10 scvs

this 1 base timing would fail horribly if you didn't pull scvs because they're also there to tank some splash from the tanks while protecting your marines

i wanted DRG to win so he could go all the way ... seems like a waste for JYP to advance only to be 1/1/1'd out by some terran >.<

the way to beat 1/1/1 is to FE, hope they allin, drop zealots in their mineral line with warp prism after they move out and hope they don't have enough at home to stop it, sac your natural and FF your ramp. that's not very fair though because if they aren't very predictable it may not work, and if they make a banshee at home or don't send lots of marines they can stop it, or if they have a viking protecting home they can stop it. but it works a lot of the time.

Or Protoss can start doing some Warp Prism 4 Gate all in. 1-1-1 is weakest before the 6 minutes mark with only 4 marines and a Bunker.

isnt a 4gate before 6 minutes pretty much impossible with the nerf to warp gate research?

You can 10 gate and get an allin at 5:30 that is really gay t.T

its not a very good allin since its so easy to scout 10 gate and once you see them save chrono, you can just bunker up or whatever and collect the free win after.

i actually just build a forge after my first gateway in pvp if i see them 10 gate with lots of chrono since there is pretty much no way they can get up the cannoned choke if i block with zealots

If I were to change anything, it would be to make banshees do something like 10(+2 to light) and make it so that although a banshee beats a stalker 1v1, it can't take on two stalkers, one at a time and come out alive.

The problem as I see it is that you literally NEED zealots to clean up the ground component well but if you have enough zealots to clean up the ground completely, the handful of stalkers you made aren't capable of shooting down the banshees. Nerfing the ground component would probably change all the other matchups too much and in addition, nerfing 2 port banshee would never be a bad idea either.
