His macro slipped cause of his micro. He was on two base because Idra didn't have his third up. If the zerg is staying on 2 base, there is no reason for the terran to go to three.

but he handled the situation pretty poorly to end up where he was. I think he needs to seriously rethink his approach to ZvT, but I have a feeling he is too stubborne and set in his ways to adjust. The biggest variation we've seen in his ZvT in the last 6 months is that he does an occasional roach rush and leaves if they built a bunker

No respect lost for Idra, that was just a really amazingly played game by Rain. The viking didn't soak the hits, IdrA clicked into it because he knew the banes were never going to reach hellions off creep or marines that can be picked up That was basically the SlayerS medivac + 4BFH elevator build. You can't stop it unless you mass zerglings and banes before it actually hits.

How is he still not anticipating/better preparing for this style after being beaten by it several times by Boxer at MLG...several weeks ago already?

roaches are negated by the medivac -- rain could've just lifted and taken 0 losses. roaches are also a poor investment against terran anyway, especially a terran that plays bio against zerg

Do you play zerg? Roaches are the absolute worst thing you can open against terran, unless you mean only around 4 or so to stop hellion builds. A actual roach/bane composition that zergs like Coca try are awful.

Fruitdealer beat it by letting the marines land, then hitting them with banelings when the medivac picked up the hellions., so the marines had nowhere to go. it's perfectly stoppable. idra just had no units and no scouting information, and no preparation.
