It's Gosu eSports, working in conjunction with the NE-SE, is pleased to announce the official details concerning what it hopes will be the first in a far reaching series of landmark invitational events, The It's Gosu eSports Invitational #1.
The inaugural event of the It's Gosu Invitational Series will feature a $1,750 prizepool, and will pit 64 of the best Starcraft II players on the planet against each other in a single elimination bracket stretching across two days, August 10th-August 11th.
The event will be streamed on the official It's Gosu eSports stream both days, with the field playing itself down to the Round of 8 on August 10th, and the remaining quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals being broadcasted on August 11th.
The stream will be hosted by lead It's Gosu caster and Team GoSu Executive Manager Aaron "Ayesee" Chambers, who will be joined in casting by Team GoSu Manager Scott "Rumcake" Ball.
Competing players will be announced in bursts leading up to the event. 16 players will be announced August 5th, 16 on August 7th, and 16 on both August 8th and 9th.
This event has been made possible by the continued support of lead sponsor NE-SE, which has recently been the subject of much discussion and excitement following the prominent announcement of their own in-house tournament structure and plans on Blizzard's Facebook page, as well as Blizzard's running SC2 blog.
The National E-Sports Event (NE-SE) is an open league designed to revolve around the average to above average players as well as professionals. The system allows all players the ability to earn moderate to large sums of money competing in the video games they play all the time, right from their own homes.

What happened?
First, that wasn't Rum's fault at all.
The truth of the matter is that there was a bit of a mix-up communication wise between he and the managers of It's Gosu. Rum had been spearheading the invitational process for getting the players involved (and doing a phenomenal job at it), but Prime reached out directly to the executive managers of It's Gosu right around the time he was discussing things with you, so by the time all was said and done we ended up with a slight over commitment player wise, though we had already finalized our roster with the Prime players =(
We sincerely apologize, and in NO WAY want you to feel as if you were passed over or pushed out-- again, it was simply an issue concerning communication due to some last minute correspondence as we were trying to fill the remaining slots, and we take full responsibility for this problem.
You and ReSpOnSe will be placed as the first two members of the "waiting list" (which will be posted tomorrow before the tournament) and will fill the first two slots if anyone should fail to show or would have to cancel.
If you'll me a PM me, I'll be sure to pass along all important info concerning the waiting list and getting you involved tomorrow should players have to cancel, and answer any and all questions you might have, as well as see how we might go about making it up to you and ReSpOnSe in other ways outside of placing you on the waiting list.
This is our first go-around with an invitational event of this size, coordinating and working with players all around the globe, so please understand that we're dedicated to serving this community and it's players, and we'll do everything we can to rectify the situation with you both.
Again, from the bottom of our hearts and with an immense amount of embarrassment and shame, we at It's Gosu apologize. Just to reiterate, Rum had nothing to do with this mistake-- a simple delay in communication between Rum and managers involved caused this happen, and this is an issue concerning which the managers take full responsibility =(

I would imagine they were beset with prior obligations and scheduling conflicts. Whatever their players may be up to during these days, we wish them the absolute best of luck and hope that we can have them as a part of future events =)

It's not a problem, and we can understand it seeming a bit "odd." We have nothing but the utmost respect for all the guys over at Complexity, and I appreciate you giving us the opportunity to clarify things.
Also, I'd like to go ahead and take this opportunity to address questions regarding EU teams, and EG: basically, it's the same story. Top teams like Dignitas, Mous, et cetera were contacted, but either didn't respond or responded to decline due to previous obligations or scheduling conflicts. Same with EG and their amazing players. Again, in the case of all of them, we wish them the best of luck in all of their endeavors, and can only hope that in the future we can find a good schedule/timing in order to include their players in future events =)

Can't really flame Namchir for cheesing though considering some of the terrans like MKP and sC are SUPER cheesy. They do whatever they can to get the win, just like Namchir did. All is fair.

How does MKP do it? Whenever I go for cloak banshee it never goes as well as his harass, and I'm playing low masters players, not a pro like Rain. I guess bad players get worried and throw up a random turret but still, it's strange.

it's quite simple : if joe34 loses a game to cloak banshees, you can be SURE he will get 3 turrets per mineral mine at the 7 min mark in the next 20 tvts, then he will eventually forget about it again, until he loses yet another game to cloak banshees. on the other hand, pros play mindgames, cut corners, and sometimes, yeah , they end up fucking themselves up, being too unsafe.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense, but you'd think the pros of all people would fare better than joe34 of all people against this particular build. I guess trying to copy some of these builds won't really work until my MMR gets higher and I start playing some good players.

He wasn't able to make it so we had to replace him with someone else on the waiting list.

Unfortunatly the players that are attending the NA Blizzcon quali weren't able to make it. Then as well some players didn't show up to the event and were replaced by waiting list players.
Some great players came in off the wait list though, such as all the TSL players, cruncher and trimaster.

Future, NamhciR, and DdOrO won their first round by those scores, the two zenex players were WO

You should probably denote walkovers in the brackets by something like 1-0 instead of 2-0 then.

I agree, these results will probably be added to the TLPD and posting walkovers as 2-0 is misleading.

I will let our bracket admins know, I'm actually not the one handling that and didnt even notice actually. Most of them were played though :D Was some really exciting games yesterday with some big upsets for sure.

All walkovers are now reported as 0-0 in the brackets =)

Great event lot of good players.

Who is casting? I can't recognize their voices. Edit: I meant to say, who is the guy with deeper voice and who is the guy with bad mic?

Poor macro from Ryung there. He had 4k min & gas but lets 8 marauders wreck 2 of his bases.

Looks like Kas knows something no other terran does.

Damn. Awesome game. Bio vs Mech TvT is probably the best matchup. Well assuming that it gets to the late game.
|
|
I love seeing ravens in TvT, PDD is so good against this marauder heavy style.
|
Haha, Check losing to a 2rax. That must be quite painful.

MMA beat Boxer using bio vs mech at MLG Anaheim, it's not obsolete yet or anything.

Ha that's funny, MKP and Check have to go to GSL.
|
MKP will be able to finish the finals....Check will have to finish tomorrow because of GSL
|
Oh, awesome! Ryung vs MKP, this will be a sick fucking series.
|
Why does MKP do this all the time?Every time someone does some damage to him he goes on rampage and ALWAYS loses, I don't know what goes on in his mind, he wasn't even behind in that game before his 1a.
|
This tournament deserves way more recognition than it's getting. It's not a big prize pool, but we're watching MarineKing vs. Ryung! The casters are pretty good also.
|
Does anyone find it weird that Ryungs a "yellow" zerg.
|
|
|
Replays, pretty please! Couldn't watch because of terrible time for Aus and I wanna see wbc pwn some Koreans.
|
can anyone spoil the results for me? or pm me or whatever, just wonderingwho won!
|
Missed the whole event (damn exams), replays would be awesome!
|
Replays are coming very soon =) A few were not submitted during the tournament (the language barrier caused a little confusion), so we're trying to track them down to assemble the full pack. We'll have them up for you all very soon!
Also, for those wanting to know who won, you can head over to the main event on ItsGosu.com (linked in the original post) to see the full brackets and results =)

The bronze match WAS scheduled for 7PM EST tonight (due to Check having to leave early for GSL play), but again, a scheduling conflict arose, meaning we're going to have to do it in the next couple of days. The finals are updated, however. The third place match we're going to do as a separate broadcast as SOON as we can get the scheduling worked out, so it can just be treated as $250 show match =P

Wow a significant amount of Koreans got taken out by foreigners. This gives me some hope for the future.
|
I can't find any replays/vods from this event, can anyone help me -.-
|
none are posted yet i believe..
|
Still waiting for replays, or were they posted?
|
So are the replays coming? Still waiting...

Yes, if you have not read above, they have stated that they are still tracking down the replays for the full pack. They were unable to receive some of the replays due to the language barrier. Just wait a little, it is on its way! If you cannot wait for the replay, then I suggest checking out itsgosu.com to get it asap when it first comes out!
|
still waiting for the vods/replays
|
still no replays? what's going on?
|
Were having a bit of trouble getting ahold of some of them still. There is a replay pack coming. Keep in mind this was our first large event, each one will be better and were learning as we go and from the errors we've made this time around
Expect to see a replay pack up shortly after Raleigh.
