What happens if NASL doesn't get 1024 players?

Xeris PLEASE tell me you will seed this thing properly so two huge names don't hit each other in ro16 or earlier? Fuck that up and you basically fuck up your image and Season 2.

I assumed the reason for the daytime weekday schedule was because the NASL casters and staff work daytime weekday hours. If that's true, its a decent reason even if it sucks for many players. You gotta do what you gotta do to get it organised.

Also, you say that the times are "unreasonable," but I'd argue that it's the most reasonable for the most amount of people. Any time later would be unreasonable for Europeans and Koreans. This time is pretty decent for Europeans, not too early/late for USA, and still bad for Koreans.

In that case I completely disagree with you. Obviously there is no time that can work for everyone all over the world, so some groups have to be prioritised. I would argue that this is the NASL and you should be picking a time which works for the majority of NA people. IMO, 1pm is not such a time. Almost everyone who is not already supporting themselves off of SC2 is either working or in school. And most people who are working or in school are busy at 1 pm. Evenings or weekends is when most people can play.

If you guys are serious about wanting a serious league of really skilled players, you are going to need good quality players in your qualifying tournament, so you should make efforts to make sure that good quality players who want to play can play. Nobody wants to see someone qualify who doesn't have the skill to compete with the other NASL players. Watching matches where one player is way better than the other is boring and isn't going to attract viewers.

a) "Most people who are working or in school are busy at 1pm" -- most pro players don't work or go to school. Therefore, if your argument is that the best players should play, then the 1pm start time won't affect anything at all.

b) If we're serious about getting the best players, then we need a time that's good for Europeans and not too bad for Koreans. 1pm is a perfect slot for that.

Everything you said in your post contradicts itself.

Quick question: Why two qualifiers (Open and Season 2)? Why not just have one qualifier and take the top 16 people, while advancing the top player to the sweet 16 of season 1?

I would like to post my criticism of the 1pm time. I get and appreciate that the 1pm time does discourage the participation of people who are not currently "pro-gamers", however I think this is misguided. NASL is effectively suggesting in this logic that a person should quit their current job before interviewing for another job.

Many top players would be full-time gamers if they had financial support and they might be able to get financial support if their name was going to be front ant center in a big league such as the NASL. However, the NASL participation comes first, the big team signing comes second and the change to being a pro-gamer comes last. NASL has asked players to do things backwards and I think this might encourage irresponsibility on the part of potential pro-gamers.

That's right. Nony explained it one time on state of the game
You become a progamer not by quitting everything and training 24/7 suddenly. You become a progamer by putting all of your free time into gaming without dropping anything else. If you can compete with the best players despite not being full time, you might want to consider going "all-in."

And I think NASL should adjust itself to follow the words of tyler, as this is the north AMERICAN star league and tyler is everything that is American.

So I think that discouraging non full time players from north america, this is kind of nasl shooting itself in the foot

Pfft screw your patriotism I want to see the best players regardless of where they come from.

I'm not Xeris but I imagine two things

1) People who got eliminated in NASL this season can't attempt to requalify for Finals via the Open.

2) You'll get better players this way. If MMA flukes out and is eliminated in RO64 in the Open, still has a chance to enter via Season 2. (Of course MMA isn't doing the Open for whatever reason). If you wanted to take it to the extreme, 16 tournaments with only the winner advancing would produce the best results (or have the probability of producing the best results), but would be time-inefficient.

What's the prize pool for Season 2? If I had to pay an entry fee (yeah $5 is nothing but still), I would like to know how much I can win.

Prize pool is exactly the same as season one.

Any comment or speculation as to why so few players have signed up? Can't imagine that its the entry fee as the season 1 open bracket had 2x the entry fee and more signups.

Are you sure these are real? I added Mavengence and he was doing some 3v3 and is platinum 1v1 w/ an awful record.

Aren't open tourneys supposed to attract amateurs, not pros? -________________-

Your attitude here disturbs me, Xeris. The idea that you won't acknowledge criticism unless we also offer a solution is so weird. People criticize ----> NASL takes criticism and fixes problem. It's up to NASL to be a good tourney in people's eyes, and figure out how to do that. I'd argue if people are having problems with your tourney it's up to you to figure out how to make it better, not call troll or "fire-starter" everyone offers a critique of the scheduling (which I find very valid in this case).
