They just scale the tournament down to an appropriate size. I think the deadline and schedule takes priority over running a full tournament with 1024 players. The player get seeded by TL ELO ranking.

Xeris probably is time to start making arrangements for different "categories"for NASL, ala Code S/A/B. This in order to to avoid korean pros(EU/US) roflstomping all the coming up players(rising stars). Perhaps decreasing the number of grps or the total people per category competition to better accommodate the schedule would be in order.

Let me fix this for you Xeris:
What's at stake The Top 8 KOREAN finishers will qualify for Season 2 of the North American Star League. Not saying it's a bad thing but with those korean signups (and maybe more to come) it's almost a certainty :p

Entire oGs house participates. Oh boy.
I am rooting for scFoU.

When will it start? What time......

Xeris, I think you are doing a great job responding to and fixing all the problems so far, am looking forward to season 2.
Also to the people complaining about 1pm...if you aren't serious enough about being a pro starcraft gamer to make yourself free at 1pm (e.g. you have work or school that you can't take off) then you probably shouldn't be trying to be a progamer at the level that NASL is trying to be. If you want to participate in craft cups, TL opens, etc to have fun and make some money that's fine, but don't try to commit yourself to something as often and possibly time consuming as NASL when you can't even play the qualifiers easily. We had too many walkovers as is last time, don't need players that can't schedule well to make it worse.

With players in the league already, I had hoped that more people from ST would sign up. Anyways, stacked tournament. Whoever gets the 8 seeds into this tournament definitely deserve their place.

The Top 4 qualify for Season 2 of the North American Star League (and places 5-8 are on standby) The Top 8 finishers will qualify for Season 2 of the North American Star League.
The OP says two different things. Can someone clarify what's going on?

* The top 8 players of the Open Tournament will be seeded into the next season of the North American Star League * The top 4 players of the Season 2 Qualifier will be seeded into the next season of the North American Star League. The next four finishers will be placed on a 'stand by list' Which would seem to indicated that only 4 are seeded directly. If that's so where do the final 4 players come from to complete the 50?

At first I was skeptical and thought some people might be able to sneak in with easier bracket sections... but jesus with that many top players it really isn't possible...
