WCG may have the most prestige but it's never been the hardest tournament out there, rotterdam is completely overhyping this achievement by saying that it makes Sky the most accomplished wc3 player, Moon is definetely more accomplished with Grubby being a close 2nd.
Of course, I don't think Sky is more accomplished than Moon or Grubby, but when it comes to WCG he is probably the most successful player across any game (maybe the German FIFA twins also). And you can't really blame him for hyping it, imagine if PuMa makes the finals of NASL 3 (and 4 if it happens), saying that "oh well, it isn't the hardest tournament" is undermining his performance.
Hmm, WCG is probably close to being the hardest WC 3 tournament around. The players treat it a lot more seriously because WCG in WC 3 is like their most prestigious tournament. Hence you might see someone slump all year long because he's taking it easy, but suddenly come WCG time he's back and training hard. Lyn and Moon are kind of like that. They've made the switch to SC 2 but come WCG time they go back to playing WC 3.
No, it's not even close to the hardest wc3 tournament, maybe it is these days, when there's in fact no tournaments around.
All the same players are pretty much invited to every other War3 tournament out there in China so the level of difficulty isn't that different from any other tournament nowadays. G-League has a more impressive line-up right now, I think. (Infi's participating, for one.) The qualifiers for the War3 WCG for China and Korea were pretty much considered harder than the actual WCG in the past years.
Moon and Grubby are by far the most accomplished, but you can make an argument for Sky. In the end, it's really just the triumvirate of Moon, Grubby, Sky that always comes up.
IMO this WCG has been pretty sub-par so far. Only Fly and Lyn look like they're in shape; everyone else is just playing very sloppy (e.g. TH000, Moon, even Sky doesn't look that great despite getting to the finals).
The sad part is that moon didn't even make it to the playoffs after such a domination in wcg korea.
Yeah, but that's how it is in War3. You have one bad day where you're not microing perfectly, and you're out. Not necessarily because the game is volatile, but because everyone's micro is so stellar these days that War3's more about perfect play more than anything else, especially with the metagame stagnating as it is.
Moon looked so good in the qualifiers vs. Lyn, though. Sigggghhhh. Like ... Fifth Race era good.
