They are strict because TL expects a certain standard amongst its posters, and rambling on about Eagles or WC v SC isn't exactly part of the Live Report thread. For one thing, the live report thread is supposed to help inform those who aren't watching the stream at the moment or to let someone quickly catch up with how things went down during a game.
I thought that was what the first page post and twitter were for?

No way, Blizzard forums are bad because they don't moderate quality of posts. Teamliquid mods actually care if you're adding to a thread, the Eagle thing for example was funny at first, but if everyone keeps doing it just becomes spam.

The whole point of being strict is so that we won't end up like Battle.net boards. If you really want free rein go to /v/ or something.
Anyway, I'm kind of surprised MLG got so much hype going. Even after all of the hiccups people still cared enough to get this to 900+ pages (which is insane btw). They must have a good marketing team or something.

It's not necessarily against the rules to do something other than LR in LR threads but there's a fine line. If people spam "OMG HE RAGEQUITS looooool" for 10 pages when something exciting happens mods will generally let it go. You have some slack, which is why the eagles/cats got quite a few good images going; the problem is they just spiral out of control and it turns into spam.

Im asking for one ~~;
unless you wanted the one with idra
just after his loss
Such a child, bad loser and bad sportsmanship. Kinda sad.
However he does say what he actually thinks straight up no bs, which is good.

Because 10 minutes after Naniwa shatters everything and everyone at MLG, some random trolls start spamming page after page about WC3 vs BW. Who honestly wants to read that trash when the LR thread is designed for something else entirely?

I think events like this need 2 threads if there is supposed to be one that has just live updates. Not really liking the extend to which so many threads have a header detailing what you can and cannot say.
I'm not confusing players am I when I think that Naniwa is known for being extremely BM + a bad teammate and annoying in general? Hope i'm not confusing him with somebody else.

would like to say that the last few matches were awesome and they helped out to recover the weekend for me. Day 9 and Wheat awesome as usual. Cant wait to watch the next Sotg.
Kiwi and Naniwa really boss.
TL rules, and these threads really helped to vent the frustration and gratification both.
Wow compare this ceremony to ANY other big event like IEM. They got lightshows, confetti, girls, a winners podium.
And MLG just got one guy there shaking his hands saying "congratulations, here you go!".
Makes you wonder how MLG spent the ~5mil$ they grossed last year.
Ever seen a CEO, COO, CFO, or VPs paycheck? Not much to wonder about.
Posts like these are really frustrating... So silly to think that MLG is a bunch of fat cats rolling in money. Also the assumption that the title CEO somehow guarantees a huge salary is so ridiculous I don't even know where to start.
MLG is very young as compared to the big European e-sports events. In addition to that, the north american RTS scene is just plain smaller than in Europe.
While it is true that MLG had some hiccups during this event(most of which were out of their direct control), it is clear that they want nothing more than to put forth a good product, and in the end of the day this event gave us some really good games.
People really just need to stop depicting MLG as this huge corporate entity cutting corners for profit at every possible place, because really that is just not true. When the qqing reaches the realm of "why wasn't there confetti?!?!" you should just stop.
They have a budget of millions and a prize pool equal to community tourneys with 1 or 2 sponsors... so yeah.
dont forget that the prize pool is actually smaller than the money the players themselves contribute by paying $70 each to play...
208 * $70 = 14560
add up 1st-8th place winnings = 14k, only 560 difference
and last time i checked 14000 was SMALLER than 14560... what is your argument
Here's an argument about money for you. Do you realize how many people MLG has to staff to run these tournaments? To rent out the convention center? To fly employees across America to the events, pay for their hotel rooms, and their food? Not to mention the equipment involved. I'd be surprised if MLG made over 50,000$ this event considering that they refunded everyone that bought an HQ pass.

The stream cut out at that exact point when it was live, so Mlg must of put it on that segment and looped it not knowing it wouldn't play through all the way

Either way, gratz on a hard fought win.
No, he's that guy you're thinking of. But since he joined Dignitas he's pretty much changed his attitude entirely and become an almost likeable person.

The people who made top 16, as long as they show up, are the people who will be top 16 at Columbus, the points from last year only seeded this weekends competition, then this years points take over.
Are you 100% sure because when the initial post was made by Slasher I think he mentioned about points decaying over time. If that is the case though I feel a bit better that at least the previous 16 who performed poorly won't get a free ride next time.

Because LR threads are fucking cesspits of whine unless moderated. Unless you mean the image macro crackdown; in which case the rules have always been the same. It's not 4chan, the unfunny memes don't belong here.

Well, I'm not sure about being a bad teammate and annoying, maybe that's pushing it a bit too far, but he does have a bit of a bm reputation. I haven't seen ANY of that in the longest of times though, so I think he has turned the ship around and is working hard. Frankly, whatever he's doing is working, he just dominated MLG Dallas.
Also 1733597 views on THIS Thread... Highest count I've seen since joining. Is that a record?

Why does the live report thread's content matter when there will be nothing more to live report afterwards? Same goes for when there is downtime, when action begins again, people will just switch to the last page, not read through every page of people having some fun waiting.
