Makes you wonder how MLG spent the ~5mil$ they grossed last year.

Ever seen a CEO, COO, CFO, or VPs paycheck? Not much to wonder about.

Posts like these are really frustrating... So silly to think that MLG is a bunch of fat cats rolling in money. Also the assumption that the title CEO somehow guarantees a huge salary is so ridiculous I don't even know where to start.

MLG is very young as compared to the big European e-sports events. In addition to that, the north american RTS scene is just plain smaller than in Europe.

While it is true that MLG had some hiccups during this event(most of which were out of their direct control), it is clear that they want nothing more than to put forth a good product, and in the end of the day this event gave us some really good games.

People really just need to stop depicting MLG as this huge corporate entity cutting corners for profit at every possible place, because really that is just not true. When the qqing reaches the realm of "why wasn't there confetti?!?!" you should just stop.

They have a budget of millions and a prize pool equal to community tourneys with 1 or 2 sponsors... so yeah.

dont forget that the prize pool is actually smaller than the money the players themselves contribute by paying $70 each to play...

208 * $70 = 14560

add up 1st-8th place winnings = 14k, only 560 difference

and last time i checked 14000 was SMALLER than 14560... what is your argument

Here's an argument about money for you. Do you realize how many people MLG has to staff to run these tournaments? To rent out the convention center? To fly employees across America to the events, pay for their hotel rooms, and their food? Not to mention the equipment involved. I'd be surprised if MLG made over 50,000$ this event considering that they refunded everyone that bought an HQ pass.

Because 10 minutes after Naniwa shatters everything and everyone at MLG, some random trolls start spamming page after page about WC3 vs BW. Who honestly wants to read that trash when the LR thread is designed for something else entirely?

Why does the live report thread's content matter when there will be nothing more to live report afterwards? Same goes for when there is downtime, when action begins again, people will just switch to the last page, not read through every page of people having some fun waiting.

Because people actually look at the thread for reactions on the games from other fans not for pointless arguments and image macro spam. LR threads for BW are the best example, miss the games, check the LR thread and you can tell what happened and if it was epic before the Vods come out.

I mentioned this already but according to Sundance MLG made no profit out of SC2 last year. No reason to assume they did this year.

Exactly, the problem isn't his original attitude. It's that he's getting more arrogant and more idiotic and then producing worse and worse results. If IdrA was winning MLGs and IEMs and GSLs, his arrogance would be well justified, as it is it's annoying.

Also, his constant balance QQ just screws up the community splitting it into the 'IDRA SAID THIS!' and 'Dude, look at the facts' sides

No, he's that guy you're thinking of. But since he joined Dignitas he's pretty much changed his attitude entirely and become an almost likeable person.

How do you even know that...? He hasn't attracted any negative attention lately because he hasn't participated in a lot of events. Doesn't mean his personality suddenly changed. He was badmannered in WC3 for years, he has been badmannered in SC2 for over a year and got kicked out of several teams and leagues. And he is still BM in laddergames.

Somehow i didn't find it surprising that he can't say 3 words on stage.

His skill is undeniable tho. With the right attitude he could've achieved a lot more by now. Think of all the money he lost because he got kicked out of esl events :/

except for finishing the highest for any zerg and being one of two foreigners to make it to ro8 in the GSL. His results are actually fine.

I really couldn't tell ya, i think if they plan to have it working they will and will have plenty of people telling them its re-playing the same 4 minutes of video anyway...

so hopefully its fixed, but if its not I wouldn't be surprised, its been that kind of a weekend.

Haha, TLO/Idra game 1 is almost as hilarious as the Huk series. Idra GGs with 56 supply to 58, 31 drones to 29 SCVs, 600 minerals/700 gas to 30 minerals/100 gas and TLO's army across the map at his own natural defending.

Im not debating your point, I like fun, but TL and their mods want us to offer quality content to its threads. It does not want to be used just because of its high volume traffic. And while you could argue this is too dumb/strict you can not refute that fact that without its mods and strict guidelines, TL would not be the quality community that it is today and therefore would not draw the masses of people that it does. So if you want a place to "have fun" on the internet with a ton of people like TL you have to respect the rules because its what makes TL.

In defense of the mods, they really do a good job of organizing the threads, if you want a place to "have fun" between games and spam about eagles, im sure you could find a thread on that.

I'm just going by the comments several notable players have stated regarding Nani. The general consensus among them is that he's a different person now. If you have experience of him BM'ing someone recently, then I subtract what I said. Either way, he's keeping his head down which is something he didn't manage to do at all in 2010.

just because they are a bloated money burning corporate entity doesnt change any of the facts

a.) they charge every spectator money
b.) they have all sorts of sponsors
c.) they charge all the players

they had 50 million in revenue in 2009, do you honestly think that these lans could not be done much better for much cheaper if they didnt have so much overhead

This re-stream not working just further re-enforces how terrible MLG has been in my eyes. They're never getting a cent of my money ever again.
