Anyone want to assign point values to the top 32 and see who makes top 16 next MLG? I'd be very interested to see how many of the same faces from this weekend's top 16 make it in.

How were so many toss in the running here? I'm used to seeing toss vastly under-represented in tournys such as GSL, etc. Has the game shifted to favor toss a bit more than a few months ago? Apologies if this seems obvious (I've taken a fair amount of time off following the scene)

The people who made top 16, as long as they show up, are the people who will be top 16 at Columbus, the points from last year only seeded this weekends competition, then this years points take over.

Posts like these are really frustrating... So silly to think that MLG is a bunch of fat cats rolling in money. Also the assumption that the title CEO somehow guarantees a huge salary is so ridiculous I don't even know where to start.

MLG is very young as compared to the big European e-sports events. In addition to that, the north american RTS scene is just plain smaller than in Europe.

While it is true that MLG had some hiccups during this event(most of which were out of their direct control), it is clear that they want nothing more than to put forth a good product, and in the end of the day this event gave us some really good games.

People really just need to stop depicting MLG as this huge corporate entity cutting corners for profit at every possible place, because really that is just not true. When the qqing reaches the realm of "why wasn't there confetti?!?!" you should just stop.



They have a budget of millions and a prize pool equal to community tourneys with 1 or 2 sponsors... so yeah.

208 * $70 = 14560

thats cuz the bracket didnt fill up. imagine if they had full 256
thats almost 18k.....also add in the gb online qualifier for this event. thast probably an extra 200-300 bucks

Why did TL have to become so strict in LR threads. These might as well be an extension of the official blizzard boards now... won't be using TL anymore for reading/posting during tournaments.

add up 1st-8th place winnings = 14k, only 560 difference

I would personally say that yeah the current metagame favours protoss slightly (I said current, before anyone calls me a balance whiner).

They are strict because TL expects a certain standard amongst its posters, and rambling on about Eagles or WC v SC isn't exactly part of the Live Report thread. For one thing, the live report thread is supposed to help inform those who aren't watching the stream at the moment or to let someone quickly catch up with how things went down during a game.

Pretty much. The current metagame favors Protoss a lot, many strong builds. MC, San, Anypro, White-Ra and TT1 in GSL WC, and Naniwa, KiWiKaKi, Socke and iNcontroL in MLG.
Lee Jae Dong proved that a focus on mechanics and execution could solve problems in the StarCraft game strategy.
