Naniwa has some actual personal issues that he had to sort out to a much greater degree of severity than, for sake of example, a 'typical gamer' like IdrA. I'm glad he appears to have turned that around, I look forward to watching him in the future.

But as I said, there just weren't that many korean wc3-pros left at the end. Only a handful switched to sc2, the rest retired or plays wc3 for fun, wheras a TON of old bw-players switched to sc2. Of course they are going to do better in GSL if there are a gazillion more of them who have a shot at winning.


In europe WC3 was pretty popular, which is why there are a lot of successful former wc3-players in europe. It has nothin to do with the game but with the amount of people playin. Skillwise bw and wc3 players are pretty even in sc2. It's a new game.

While it is true that MLG had some hiccups during this event(most of which were out of their direct control), it is clear that they want nothing more than to put forth a good product, and in the end of the day this event gave us some really good games.

People really just need to stop depicting MLG as this huge corporate entity cutting corners for profit at every possible place, because really that is just not true. When the qqing reaches the realm of "why wasn't there confetti?!?!" you should just stop.



They have a budget of millions and a prize pool equal to community tourneys with 1 or 2 sponsors... so yeah.

Ive not heard of root outside of SC2 and they have only just got sponsorship the teams above i mentioned have won trophies and a good deal of money in other esports and are well established hence my surprise.

Er what community tourney has a prize pool of tens of thousands of dollars? Plus MLG's nationals have a considerably larger pool. If Naniwa is getting 5k it's because 5k is all they have not because they're lining their pockets. Sundance said last year the SC2 circuit made no profit.

I felt like staying home would have almost been better, no commentary whatsoever at the venue made the viewing experience less enjoyable for sure.
