Posts like these are really frustrating... So silly to think that MLG is a bunch of fat cats rolling in money. Also the assumption that the title CEO somehow guarantees a huge salary is so ridiculous I don't even know where to start.
MLG is very young as compared to the big European e-sports events. In addition to that, the north american RTS scene is just plain smaller than in Europe.
While it is true that MLG had some hiccups during this event(most of which were out of their direct control), it is clear that they want nothing more than to put forth a good product, and in the end of the day this event gave us some really good games.
People really just need to stop depicting MLG as this huge corporate entity cutting corners for profit at every possible place, because really that is just not true. When the qqing reaches the realm of "why wasn't there confetti?!?!" you should just stop.

Given the travel expenses, I imagine he got 40 bucks in profit. Somehow I doubt that, unlikely Naniwa would come if it was that costly and out of his own pocket. MLG or someone else probably paid for his travel expenses.
Well I'm sure Dignitas has pretty loaded sponosored team that they can afford to send their few players to MLG over for a weekend.

He might get a travel stipend for Columbus, as that's what MLG did with the Top 8 last year, but yeah, no way they paid to fly anyone in for the open bracket.

Possibly, but if it was entirely Dignitas' doing to get Naniwa here then there should be no reason Koreans couldn't come to this tournament vs a future one as hinted by Day9 expect for lack of knowledge.

You realise ofcourse that only the planetickets to Dallas and back to Sweden costs something close to 2500 USD. Who freaking cares, enough with this unwarranted bias against WC3 players. You just continuously prove the argument that this bias exists. RTS players are RTS players, we are part of the shame mesh of gamers.
Anyway Grats to Naniwa for basically the most beast performance I've seen since Nestea. Proves he has really upped his game, looking forward to see more of him in TSL3

why? it's just going to be explaining why none of it was MLG's fault. maybe have Sundance on and give more boilerplate apologies for technical issues and promises that future events will be smooth.

dont forget that the prize pool is actually smaller than the money the players themselves contribute by paying $70 each to play...
208 * $70 = 14560

I doubt that Naniwa is using his prize money to be at MLG. Dignitas is a pretty well established team. With sponsors like Intel to Logitech. They are sponsored. Companies are willing to pay for their team because the players wear their logo. Its not like Nascar drivers have to pay for their gas for races.
