After they tried to resume there was no way it was going to be fair to either player.

Yep, I'm hooked up to my TV with HDMI and when I fullscreen these streams it cuts off the left and right....
Justin.tv and UStream do not do this... yet MLG/Octoshape does... great... thanks guys. Back to full screen laptop on the tv stand I guess.

Gom has their own Bnet Server to play on which is almost the same as LAN.

It would be a great decision if they had a regame right after the first 2h pause. Letting the game finish and then put up a regame is a bad decision imo.

"Battle.net's lag"
It's not BNET lag! It's lag in dallas!

Anyone in the UK/in Europe getting an unwatchable stream?

There was almost a 2 hour delay for the Idra series then more delays after that. I think in around 4 hours I watched 2 games this morning(Last night for NA people).

I think this was a fair decision by MLG, redeeming themselves. If half the other games being played currently drop, than it's safe to assume the Grubby vs Dde game is also having substantial problems.

My fucking stream froze now.
On a scale from 1 to Chris Brown, I'm Steven Bonnell right now.

They thought the lag had gone away, when it clearly had not.
I agree though, they never should have unpaused after the ridiculous delay.

I think they know more about business than you though. You are inevitably biased, as LAN would be good for you and not bad in any way. It's not that simple for Blizzard. LAN would result in massive Hamachi piracy and lost sales, without a doubt. That said I agree that the lack of some sort of tournament edition is simply a very poor decision. Massive piracy does not equal lost sales. There's no logic to support that line of thinking. Any increase in piracy of SC2 at this point, because of LAN, is irrelevant. People doing that were never going to buy the game anyway. Just because there's no evidence to support the assertion that copyright violation would not actually have a net negative effect on SC2 sales doesn't automatically mean that there were no gross effects on SC2 sales.
In the absence of actual evidence I'm firmly of the belief that copyright violation is a net positive on revenue for a series over time but I'd have to say it's completely wrong to say that everyone that violated copyright instead of getting a legit copy would never have bought the game to begin with.

MLG Admins do look retarded now. Flame on! :D Its not a flame. Its like in soccer the referee decides to give out a red card and a minute later he's like "ah that wasn't a red card, get back to the game".
Could also argue like its baseball, they start playing the first 2 innings, but then a rain delay, the baseball players go straight back out in the 2nd inning and continue the game. (atleast I think thats how it works lol)

If anything, piracy would probably vicariously HELP the game by increasing exposure. Not that I'm advocating piracy (nor do I pirate myself), but I think that the way most developers think about piracy is in terms of a simple dichotomy (i.e. piracy vs. sales).
A pretty good assessment of the situation IMO: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/extra-credits/2653-Piracy

No, they tried to continue playing but obviously the lag was still so high that it wasn't possible to properly finish the game. This was the right decision.

Still looks "slightly" laggy to me, could just be the poor quality of the stream/upload rate.
