[NASL] Players (final) - Page 20

Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied.

Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

#1 NASL site is awefull - when i reached it i went back to google and looked for other hits cause i couldnt belive this is really a site , after avilio being Number 1 in votes i refuse to go back there.
i did better job at a site for UT clan 5 years ago.

i would like to see a proffesional site by a decent designer for a tournament with 400k prize ,
dont underestimate the package .
if thats not possible a forum in TL like TSL would be much better then the current solution.
if thats not possible a blogpost / worldpress site would be better.

#2 the announcment of the players - seriously ? i really appreciate the dramma with the revealing , but if you do it do it correctly.
a very good example of doing it right is TSL , the players , their background and reasons they were choosen - just the names is not good enough ... and better just skip this then doing it half assed. pictures videos or even just use incontrol hype talent with voice announcments would be a very welcome addition.
transparency will go very long way with the croud , if you see again TSL with the award winning decision of boxer , thats the right way of doing things - and look how that hard decision recieved.
explain your decisions.

#3 the players revealed - i believe nasl saving the best to last , i dont agree with that . you need people to be excited from the start - keep the revealed group ballanced.

#4 the players choices - there was a 100 page + thread about it somewhere with a nice pole.
i think its fair to say the vast majority will be very disapointed with only a few medicore koreans allowed , i will not go there for redundency , just look at the 50k+ viewers on korea vs world matches in TSL.

TL , DR
its just very important to keep the production value for everything you do , and not only the main part , look at successfull companys like blizzard or apple and their finish on their product ,
the pre show is very important , i do hope that the NASL will show improvment on thier preshow
look on TSL again for a good example

thank you for the long read, and goolduck with the really nice project.

You whine on about the importance of presentation but seem to be miss the hypocrisy.

Look forward to seeing the full groups.

i agree that the presentation wasnt executed very well so far. hope nasl improves on that. like more content on their page, interviews, short teaser videos,... there are so many posibilities to create drama+attention. (everything else is great so far ;-) )

If they have couple of weeks before the start of the tournament (4th of april?), how do you think they are able to do a qualifier for this?

You realize TSL D2 this weekend had ~50k viewers while live, right? And only 1 Korean played that particular day.

he is not running around telling people he will create the biggest and best NA SC2 competitive experience though. he is just some random guy posting on forum board in his spare time.

NASL.tv has done a lousy job "managing expectations". This should not come as much of a surprise because they've acknowledged they have no experience in this area. They probably would've been better off being a key sponsor at an IEM or MLG event. Then allowing an organization with a proven track record of consistent success run the show. Only time will tell though.

Events like TSL, IEM, MLG and GSL are well run and will continue to move eSports forward whether or not the NASL succeeds.

out of all koreans to invite, why moon?

well why the hell not? he finished 2nd at IEM and proved that he has improved a lot and is rly solid now. also he's a huge fan favorite and is gonna attract many viewers because he's a warcraft 3 legend. also, he's definitely not the only korean for the tournament. there are 35 more players yet to be announced and i'm sure some of them are gonna be koreans.

Well I mean, moon is rather weak compared to most koreans. Just look at Ace, who got first in IEM gets 2-0'd in the up/down matches. Why not get the top koreans?

So Ace>moon
But Ace=CodeA
And Idra= CodeS
However Squirtle> Idra
And Moon>Squirtle
So it's logical to assume that CodeA>CodeS.

Your logic doesn't seem very logical :s

I got another one:
Moon>Squirtle At IEM
Squirtle>mvp in GSTL
Conclusion: Moon > mvp
So if Moon is better than a former GSL champion he should obviously be invited?

Why the fuck do people bitch so much about these invites?
You can't have an absolute list of the 50 most deserving players since it is a very subjective thing, but can anyone honestly say any of the 15 names announced aren't at least in the top 70 of the players that applied? And if you claim they aren't feel free to list the 69 players who are clearly better.

The invites looks good so far. Some obvious choices, and some not so obvious (but still good). There is always room for a few dark horses to make names for themselves, if all the invitationals followed the same invitelist, things would get boring, so I really like that they put in a few not so obvious players, but still very good players.

Man people on this forum can always find something to bitch about.

Look at those lists so far, I can honestly say that of those players, every single one would be in my top 100 players in the world list (except maybe cruncher). You can't expect NASL to get literally the top 50 players in the world playing. And do you guys really think every top korean progamer applied? I mean many of them don't speak a lick of english, so it's pretty hard to make an application video in english...

And sometimes it isn't about who is most deserving. A lot of this has to do with who the fans want to see. And I can guarantee you more fans want to see Moon play than someone like Ace. Like if Day[9] were to apply. He would probably get in because of his popularity. But I doubt he is anywhere close to the top 50 worldwide. But would you really complain if Day[9] was competing?

I'd say that about 45 of the top 50 did apply, so I don't see why not. Just check the application video thread, a ton of ogs/slayers/FOX/startale players applied.

I like the fact that they picked some not-so-obvious names that will get the chance to make a real name for themselves and prove their doubters wrong. Also I would assume they'll announce the big Korean names later. I'd guess they'll invite at least 10-15 which will make the spots for EU, NA and Korea almost even. Some may not like that fact but I for one think it's smart for a first season. In the later season, players that doesn't belong there will fall out and better players will work themselves into the league. My 2 cents.

iNcontroL said that the NASL would be all about presentation, player features, and just a more viewer-to-player experience. I see no problem with this guy making a post about the importance of presentation.
