Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |

I'd say that about 45 of the top 50 did apply, so I don't see why not. Just check the application video thread, a ton of ogs/slayers/FOX/startale players applied. There were only about 20 koreans that applied. It is in NASLs best interest to accept only koreans that are either: a) Extremely high level close to the top players (MC, MVP, Nestea etc.) b) Extremely popular (Boxer, Moon, Nada etc.) Unfortunately there aren't that many that applied that fit into either category. I mean someone like oGsTop doesn't really deserve to be in NASL. Sure he's a solid low level Code S player. But would you really rather watch him struggle in 2 second delay or just have a strong NA or european player? I mean guys like Nestea, Fruitdealer and a bunch others didn't apply. Boxer did. Nada did. MC did. You better believe they will be invited. But I really don't see the point of inviting a bunch of those oGs or Startale players like Cezanne, Bomber, TheWind etc. You also have to consider the fact that all of the Startale applicants didn't do their video properly. They didn't answer any of the questions NASL wanted answered. They may make an exception for July (because he falls into both categories) but the rest of them shouldn't be invited. Of the 20 that applied, we will probably see about 6 or 7 get invited. And I think that is how many should be (based on who applied). Ace won IEM, he should be totally invited. It would be quite insulting to me that they invite moon but not the guy that actually defeated him. Plus, Bomber is probably the best Terran in the world. He's not known, and it would be interesting to discover the guy trough a foreign tournament. I personally have no idea who the fuck is Cruncher. Why is he invited? What are his achievements? What are the achievements of most of these players? I prefer to see Bomber play with delay than Fenix without. Have you seen him play during TSL? Amateur stuff right there... This is an american tournament leading to a huge american LAN tournament. They just can't justify invited every korean that has performed well. If they do and the top 16 end up having 8 koreans in it, they just won't have the audience coming out to watch it. They can only invite the most popular/highest level koreans. By highest level i mean GSL winning level. And by most popular I mean Boxer, Moon, Nada level. I'm sorry but Ace just doesn't fit in either group. This isn't GSL. This isn't held in Korea. This is an american tournament that will have the finals in America. And Americans just won't show up unless they have Americans to cheer for.
To be honest, I would prefer the top 16 with 8 Koreans if they show us awesome games. Why would you possibly like a top 16 with ''all Americans'' if they show not the best of the best games? And by your logic I guess Europeans shouldn't be invited either because Americans don't come for Euros ?
E; Don't get me wrong, I don't want the tournament to be like 45 Koreans, but hoping for more than 5 nevertheless .

Speak for yourself, If the final 16 DOESN'T have any of the big name koreans in LA, i sure as hell won't go watch it. And I LIVE in Los Angeles. You really think people are going to fork up money to fly out to LA to watch players just because they're American and not because they're the best players competing? I hope the finals have a ton of Europeans too then which strangely enough, isn't ever argued by the "pro-american only" people. Why so much hate for koreans but not for other non-US players?

jinro, mvp, nestea, and marineking did not apply therefore will not be in this at all period.
morrow and whitera will most likely be part of the 30 other people who will be announced
MC will most likely be part of the 30 other people who will be announced if he really wants to join...

I have a feeling the names are being released in order to hype NASL just like incontrol before. With the whole "This will be so epic!"
Well, right now its a "Well, they said its epic, where is the epic?" and people come here and talk about who is in the NASL and who will be in it. Its hype.
People are like "I'll be so pissed if player X is not in the game" and then they keep coming back day after day to look for that player.
If there are top koreans in the NASL (and i bet there will be) I can almost gurantee they will be announced late. So that people really freak out when the last 5 names announced are like
- oGsMC - SlayerS_Boxer - ST_July - oGsNada - ST_Squirtle
or something....
|
60% of the players are still to be announced.
Some people need to learn to chill.
|
http://nasl.tv/ 5 more players can be found on their site
TLO (Div 1) Strelok (Div 2) Slush (Div 3) Machine (Div 4) Sen (Div 5)
Edit: Fail, didnt see some1 already posted them
|
The Korean invites also depend on who can fly out to LA for a week, they might not want to invite top code S players for fear of having them not be able to make it due to GSL.
As far as Grubby and Artosis go, I am not sure if either one will get in. Grubby probably won't because he has not won a tourney yet. Artosis has a chance because he did qualify for a GSL
|
|
wtfbbq! why is Artosis not in that list.
|
TBH, Cruncher qualifying doesn't make me very happy...

It should be a good representation of americans, europeans and canadians. But there absolutely has to be a proportionally higher number of americans/europeans. Maybe something like 40% NA, 40% european, 15% asian, 15% korean. You can't invite 15 koreans because that wouldn't leave enough room for europeans/americans. 50 slots isn't a lot and you can't justify any more than 10 (and that's pushing it) for koreans.

They will be some random guy that heard of the tournament from a friend and are going with them. And they will want to see someone they can cheer for. c) There will still be many of the top koreans. The tournament just won't be flooded with them like some of you seem to want. d) Sorry, I should say westerners and not differentiate between US/european players. I'm not on a pro-US rant. I'm more just opposed to flooding the tournament with koreans. Again, of the 20 koreans that applied, no more than 6-7 should be invited. e) And you're honestly telling me if guys like IdrA, TLO, Ret, Kiwikaki etc. are fighting for 10s of thousands of dollars 5 minutes from your house you won't go watch it? Frankly, I don't believe you. Just because Boxer isn't there doesn't mean you won't go out and watch it.

atm I completely agree with theirs choices
I hope that they'll continue on this way!

What are you trying to say here, I really don't understand. Americans can only cheer for other Americans and Europeans, but not for Koreans? That makes absolutely no sense. From the diehard fan to the noob who just happened to pass by, I am absolutely sure that they primarily care about and want to see good games, not just people of a certain nationality.

Can anybody tell me what Machine's recent accomplishments (like the last four months) are? I cannot find any, and that's no exaggeration... O.o

>And they will want to see someone they can cheer for.
Exactly, white american's want to root for white Americans... and Europeans! You know what would be better than white guys... white chicks! We could really root for them.... imagine... a white girl... the non-asians would love that!
What about black players? How are we going to capture that audience? Left handed people? Certainly they will only want to root for lefties.
See, in America, we stick to our groupings and root for only those that are LIKE us..... if you are different.... well... stay home then.... because even though I'm not a racist... lots of people are and its not fair to them to have to watch non-whites play.
If only there was some non-racial/cultural way to pick players..... oh well.... .guess we'll just have do whats in the "greater good".... for the "love of the game"... because NASL knows how to setup and run a great league... and Korean's know nothing about stuff like that.

Americans are patriotic to a fault. Trust me, they won't want to see a tournament full of koreans. The only way they would be willing to is if that tournament was loaded with the very best koreans (fruitdealer, nestea, mkp etc.) and not bomber, ace, thewind, squirtle etc.
I also think a lot of you are underestimating the delay. It's hard to show good games with 2 second delay. With some players it won't matter (they're way more skilled than others). But I really don't think mid level koreans would go very far in this tournament anyways.
