Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |

Speak for yourself. dde is a solid NA player (certainly a top player in NA). Don't see why you wouldn't invite one of the best NA players to a "NORTH AMERICA Starcraft League", and it's not his fault Dimaga did not follow the guidelines now is it? This is the real world, you don't follow the guidelines you suffer the consequences. Players should not be given an exception because of how well known they are.
Besides that, he has played and done well against guys like moonan/Cruncher/etc.

Plenty of players were contacted on basis of popularity and/or performance and Dimaga is clearly one of the best EU zergs if not the best and does have a big fanbase to boot. Why not contact him to begin with? Still with the hate from TSL2? Getting a little ridiculous here. He's already not in TSL3 because of it, and obviously many people actually want to see him play.
But hey it's ok cause we got all the NrG kids to look forward to. /facepalm
Why is it a bad excuse? they psoted the deadline dates, they told players about it, if he can't get his application in in time why should he get in over someone who follows the rules?

make it 60 players 12 players each division

See that's the kind of thing that makes this whole invite process not very legit. Apparently one of the best zergs in EU can't be contacted by the organizers so he's left out b/c of bureaucracy, but we get a bunch of guys nobody cares about which I'm sure Incontrol will tell us are so awesome and will totally amaze us.
Why get players who have already proven themselves and have a fanbase when you can get Vibe and STALIFE DROPS?
The guy from NrG defending the invites here is just making me an anti-fan btw. I'm sure anyone would want to give their team a chance but really, who in the hell wants to see you play over the big names that are missing? I sure don't.

Ive heard of all them so does that counter your statement and they all deserve a spot? IMO they all earned their spot. There are possible better players out there but all the players mentioned so far are very good and deserving of the spots No it doesn't, because my statement is my own and it is my opinion about the current state of the selections. Just curious, who - in your opinion - are the "many who [don't] deserve their spot"? Which players don't deserve to be in the NASL and why? What are your selection criteria?

Players should not be given an exception because of how well known they are.
But that's pretty much what a lot of the picks seem to be based on. -.-

But that's precisely how it's been going isn't it? A bunch of players were contacted to take part in the league without needing to submit an app or video, on the basis of performance or popularity.
So why not (arguably) the best zerg in EU?
There's a whole bunch of really mediocre NA zergs in there now that have done nothing but lose 1st round in major tournaments or just about, and we're supposed to be excited for that? Bleh.

Like, I'm supposed to root for Catz, Sheth, Slush or Machine, but we can't have Dimaga? Give me a break.

I am really dissapointed at NASL for not bringing Dimaga in, the best z player in europe(besides morrow and tlo) and he has lots of fans and has such a good manner and he is one of the best guys to look up to for all the fans.
And if NASL is that stupid i might not be looking at this...
|
Ok, so we got Zenio. Thank god? Still really lacking some world-class Zerg.

I really hope that Dimaga and Morrow can make it!

Being a "Top NA player" doesn't mean much when all the NA pro's ladder on EU or KR because beating all the newbs on NA ladder is a waste of time now does it hmm? I see no reason for this random deadline which is obviously just red tape for the sake of red tape. I also have a problem with these obviously lesser skilled players being included in what was supposed to be a tournament for "50 of the worlds best players". dde is barely top400 of all active progamers. I am not convinced by your weak argument of "hes solid dood and won a few games online lol!"
|
so the groups arent random for sure
|
So I'm guessing the groups weren't random at all. 5 spots left and still no Morrow or DeMulism (unless he's still injured)

Baffles me why those 4 Koreans would be chosen over others with more results? I mean I know more than 5 Koreans that are better players than the other 45 currently listed, so don't give me that "theres still 5 mores players!!!" crap.

On March 29 2011 00:44 Avalain wrote: So with all of the TSL upsets and lag controversy, are people still disappointed in the relatively small number of Koreans so far?
Personally, my opinion has always been that I want to see different players than you see in the GSL. I wouldn't want a "GSL2" because that just wouldn't be interesting for me. Of course, this means that definitely going to be buying a pass since the lineup is AWESOME in my eyes.
Yeah, after seeing TSL I'm actually glad that there aren't that many Korean players in the NASL roster. My opinion was that if they want the "best players in the world," then yeah, they should include top Korean players, but if they want to focus on the non-Korean and NA scene in particular, then that's great too because it not only gives me a chance to see some great players that don't know about, but also encourages growth and competition, resulting in better players and better games overall. I also realize that lag isn't an excuse for everything, but honestly, I don't enjoy watching a match where I can't be sure if one player is being handicapped by that or not. It's like when there's bad refereeing in football - makes it hard to be satisfied with the outcome, regardless of who wins.
There are definitely a few big names that I'm excited to see play, but I don't know most of the more "minor" players since I've only seen stuff like MLG, Dreamhack, and IEM. If the players play well, though, that's all I really care about - just because someone isn't well known yet doesn't mean they aren't or can't be a great player.
Edit: Just saw the five new invites - four Koreans and Ret. Kind of baffling choices, meh.. Too tired to care / think about that now, though.
