he played enough televised games to not get too smart in the finals (like for example mkp, who switched his entire style just to lose finals to mvp). the gsl run isnt as miraculous as his last osl run though, so maybe he wants to win it "standard". oh man july, i come to korea and tp your teams house if you switch your style and try standard against the king of cheese which mc is. kill fire with fire!

But thats the thing with July - his hyper aggressive style is forcing his opponents to make mistakes. AnyPro supply blocking, Nada late-sieging and even MVP miss-macroing! Even A players rarely miss these things, but July is so unpredictable that everyone is just always on their toes. So it's not luck at all, but July's play style paying off. Having said that, I think MC is still highly favored to win, though I am still rooting for July.

To be fair I don't think MC is that solid of a player. He simply knows how to exploit the current metagame and excels at cheese. That of course is something if no one can beat it. Kudos for him. But once the game is more figured out, I foresee his abusive style will become less than successful. This is now 2nd time in a row I don't have any interest in the GSL final, despite not being a TvT. Neither player don't inspire me nor entertain me, to be frank.

The thing is, SC2 isn't like SC1 where you can figure out the best optimal way to play 100%. It's similar, but SC2 is more of a build order circle, where almost literally any strategy you do can work if you execute it really well and scout what ur opponent's unit comp is and counter it pre-emptively, or if you just abuse aggro builds. In SC1 you couldn't exactly do it the same way imo because you knew at a certain time your opponent or you had to have a specific unit amount and combination. Like TvP when someone did the FD opening, you always knew their units and you had to always make dragoons. In SC2, someone could do the same opening but there's 10x more ways to counter it or die to it because of the way units hard counter each other more in SC2. Someone goes cloak banshee, the opponent can counter with reactored vikings saving scans, or a fast raven, or just missile turret with mass marines. If it were SC1, there would be one optimal way to stop that particular opening. I don't think SC2 will ever be 'figured out" like you and others always say.

No real insights to the match. + Show Spoiler + The matches were stupid and were over in less than 5 minutes; not worth watching. Might as well spoil the result instead of wasting the time. The other matches were very enjoyable though.

You are contradicting so much in your post so I don't even know where to begin. And a lot of what you're saying have been gradually being figured out. And the constatly changing metagame is also a counter-proof that there is an on-going effort to figure out this game. MC does look to have a leg up above others on this department for now, and I congratulate him. But I can't say that I 'respect' his play nor 'enjoy' his play. (To be honest his attitude doesn't help, either)

If anyprotime and Sanzenith is around the same level skillwise Julyzerg got a good chance. cause the Mc vs sanzenith could have been ALOT closer. If against all Odds blizzard patched 1.3 before the final julyzerg would probably have a even better chance. looking forward to this final!

If MC wins, it's because he's by far the best protoss, where as July is not the best zerg.
