July is now guaranteed $17,000 richer because he plays to his strengths and didn't care that all the other zergs are stubbornly sticking to passive macro.
People are lame. That's the way the swarm is supposed to be played. just wait and watch people copy July from now on.
Do you really want this to happen?
Zergs were the main race that forced macro games before.
If we all just stopped at 2-3 base roach builds, protoss/terran would never need to pass 2 base builds to counter it.......
It will make the game much more 1 dimensional.
Im not with you on this. Aggressivity will have Terrans and protoss on their toes, and its gonna give more options to us ZErgs. We can let some pros dictate to us that Zerg is to be played defensively. All of the races can be played to different style, there is no optimal way to play any of them. We should Celebrate July for having the Zerg contemplate new builds for aggression. It was of primordial importance that a player find a way or we`d have zergs getting abused all the time.
Unfortunately, as much as I like july, I dont see him beating MC anytime soon
Problem in SC2 is with Hydra and Roach being 2 supply you can't Sauron , because you need at least 70 supply worth of drones to macro up like that .
SauronZerg?
Could someone give me a history lesson please?
Description has everything you need to know.
Ooh thanks!
Gonna watch this now.
I presume the gif is from this match?
Watch this . It's a much more impressive showing and has good english commentary . If you have time i recommend watching the whole OSL finals . It could be a preview of what we are about to see in the GSL finals .
As I predicted, absolutely no contest. MC will now defeat July to be the first dual champion. San and Anypro never stood a chance against these beasts.
Are people really whining about how July played? He played great. The whiners are obviously not looking into the mind games involved in a series, which is a HUGE deal. I hope he can play as great as he did today vs MC, although MC will be a much tougher opponent than anypro.

Will do!
Still funny for me watching SC1 not really knowing how any of the 'new' brood war units work.

MC 4 - 1 or 4 - 0
Lmao yeah cuz a zergling run-by is cheese.
Keep drinking the cool-aid man, he was gonna bane bust and lose, the ling run-by = luck
Obviously that's why he's made it to the semi-finals and will most likely make it to the finals. Hater gonna hate.
All his matchups were a joke pretty much, and he cheesed MVP out. He was massacred in the only legit game he played, against MC. The Nada games showed that basically July can't do late game, and he only won cuz Nada made so many silly mistakes.
4 - X MC, where X is the number of games July manages to successfully cheese MC
Is this a joke? July sure did play aggressively against NaDa but did that not pay off? Also game 5 vs NaDa was actually quite standard and he won that quite handily. Also he showed his macro today by completely overwhelming Anypro even after getting harassed heavily by phoenixes.
Not saying July will definitely beat MC but your hating is getting ridiculous.
Nada could've won that game 5, way earlier when he pushed through the secret tunnel if he wasn't so terrible at sieging his tanks in a timely fashion. In fact the siege fail was a constant through all the games. July didn't win because of his impressive macro, he won because of nada's impressive miscontrol.
I agree with everything ffadicted said
I think it seems like Nada miscontrolled his siege tanks quite a bit by forgetting to siege in time. Rather July plays a style that has more units than most zergs so that he can deny favorable positioning for his opponent. Like IdrA for instance, he would usually drone heavily and start producing units massively when the push comes. He would give up positioning in exchange for delaying the push as much as possible, picking off reinforcements and waiting for additional production cycles before attacking into the sieged position.
July's aggressive style has a lot more units so that when the Terran pushes, he can force engagements earlier than a Terran wants. You can't honestly expect Nada to start leapfrog sieging all the way at the start of the secret tunnel (or Tasteless secret hallway). Nada, however, no doubt did make some mistakes as I feel a scan ahead would have allowed him to siege in time and eliminate the need for a very slow leapfrog pushing.
What, it's over already? Why do the semifinals take place earlier than normal? Did I miss much? July's games seem to be recommended a lot, but that could be fanboyism.
It's pretty funny reading about people saying that July is getting lucky/his opponent makes mistakes and he is no good.
Why does every single player facing july this far in this GSL do these mistakes? For the same reason he won a golden mouse in broodwar defeating an at the time playing-out-of-his-mind Best 3-0 while everyone was thinking July was a has-been.
July is calling your every bluff, he is constantly changing the game asking you to handle new situations you're not really used to. Playing against July, you get thrown out of your comfort zone, no matter if your style is aggressive or passive. This makes people do mistakes no matter if their name is MC, MVP or xxloRdofUndeadxX.
Edit: It's alot like playing the player rather than the game that can be present in for example chess too. Why would I try to make the objectively best move if I can just play the move you least of all want to see?
ZvP will be tough for July, i don't know if he can beat the best protoss in the game, but if any zerg can do it its JulyZerg. Can't believe some of the hate he has gotten. The guy has done this GSL I think 2 blind allins, 1 of the MVP games and the 6 pool, all the rest of his aggression has been reactionary to his opponents mistakes. July has shown harassment, long reactionary macro, aggressive style macro, etc. He has done it all. He can baneling bust you or he can max supply and roll you or he can endlessly attack you until you break, impossible to know what the guy is going to throw at you because he can do it all. Only really serious weakness I have seen is vs a meching terran and his creep spread isn't very good.

ahh good ol' Klazart. Miss that guy. I wish he could return to commentating again haha
I knew it was probably a long shot but I still hoped for the best for SanZenith. I have never been a fan of MC (both in-game and outside the game) San still left me the most beautiful/strongest memory since FD's GSL 1 run, and I will not forget his games.
