This argument is somewhat childish: He doesn't let me play with his toy so I don't allow him to play with mine. I'm not saying that at all. I'm just saying people weren't mentioning the fact that GSL has a pretty stout barrier of entry, even if they don't limit the # of foreigners in the way the NASL might. On March 16 2011 01:49 kaisr wrote: I've never understood random patriotism in areas where they make no sense, I just like seeing top level play. Why or how the best of the best got that way is pretty irrelevant to me. I'd much rather see top level players going at it than random mid/low level foreigners playing. For most casual American players (i.e. the average Husky subscriber) watching Idra, Tyler, TLO, TT1, qxc, white-ra, Painuser, and countless others IS watching high level play. You need to remember we're trying to grow e-sports in America, not cater to the needs of a small group of people who find the aforementioned names "low tier". In my opinion inviting 15 Koreans to crush the NASL every season will not help popularize e-sports in America. But that is not all, GOM will also PAY for your plane ticket to Korea. So yea, they don't support foreigner. They try their best, but its still a huge commitment to play in the GSL. You will need to rearrange your entire life to play in the GSL, whereas to compete in the NASL you need only to commit to a short-term trip to play in the finals. On March 16 2011 02:18 0neder wrote: We will never compete with Korea if we segregate our communities. We will compete AND grow e-sports by hyping the fun international bond we have and mixing players from both communities as much as possible. Nope, the only thing that will allow us to compete with the Koreans is to have the same ability to train hard like they do. Our culture in America/Europe does not support 12 hours a day 7 days a week training, its as simple as that. My only concern is this: We invite 10 Koreans every season to come play in the NASL and they completely dominate due to their sheer commitment to training stracraft 24/7. They take the huge prize back to Korea, and we don't see or hear from them again until the next NASL. Its not even their fault - they dont speak our language, they dont live in our country's, they dont even play on the same starcraft server! I just think I'd be more fun to see Idra (or any foreigner) pimping in a penthouse in downtown LA off his NASL prize winnings. Can your average American/European players with real lives (people with girlfriends, wives, jobs, families, etc etc) relate to Korean players? Will they connect with them like they would a college student from their home country? I'm not sure. Remember we're trying to grow e-sports, not cater to the niche crowd who demands only the best of the best play and nothing more. The best spectating I've experienced in starcraft 2 was watching the MLG casts last year. I'm an average player with life responsibilities other than starcraft and watching Idra and Jinro play is top level enough to me. I'm thinking many casual foreign players/spectators feel the same, but maybe I'm wrong.

The most up to date list of videos is on page 51. That's the problem when the OP's list is copying my list and isn't updated as frequently as mine. If you're lazy to click on 51... EDIT: DeMuslim's video has just been added to the list on page 51. On a side note still waiting to know which team Sky is under. Currently he's under other since I can't hear him clearly state his team name. For the mean time i've put him under thermaltake. Hopefully that's correct.

Why would I pay money so that you americans can grow e-sports over there? I'd rather see high level of play and that's what I pay for when I buy GSL tickets. Besides, a sport scene that is not competitive does not interest me. Anyways, go July!!! I kinda wish his application VOD would be more ballard though. Imagine July saying like Illidan in some WoW Trailer: "You dare enter MY realm?" :-)

Then again, based on the rules, a lot of these highly skilled Korean players will not be invited due to the fact that they don't have much results..

just like the TSL3 will be amazing to see our favorites go up against each other the NASL can be all that and possibly more, but not if it is limiting the players allowed just to "grow american esports" better. counter intuitive.

You can't say you want to see Incontrol vs Julyzerg, because if there are more Koreans, there is for example no room for Incontrol. Many people want to see the players from their nation to be in the league: (I will pick max. 6 for every country, but there are many more really good players) Germany: Socke, TLO, Goody, Darkforce, HasuObs, (Insolence), .... USA: Idra, QXC, Tyler, Select, Axslav, KawaiiRice, ... Canada: Huk, Kiwikaki, Drewbie, TT1, (Slush), ... Sweden: Jinro, Morrow, Sjow, Naniwa, Haypro, Lalush, ... Ukraine: White-Ra, Dimaga, Kas, Strelok, (Bly), ... France: Adelscott, Sarens, Moman, ToD, (Stephano), ... Poland: Tarson, Mana, Diestar, Nerchio, ... Russia: BratOK, (Abver), ... Then there are many countries with 1 or 2 top players (Demuslim, Cloud, Nightend, Killer, Naama, Fenix, Moonglade, Sen) That's almost 50 names and I didn't include all the great players/legends/community people (Artosis, Grubby, Incontrol, Mondragon, ... ). So which player from your country would you leave out for another Korean? That's the question. I would be happy if they invite one top Korean player for every group, but I don't want to see 20 Koreans and many Korean vs Korean games in the group stage, because we already have the GSL to watch. for Mvp, Nestea, Tester, MC, marineking...? anybody you mentioned

You wouldn't be happy seeing top EU players competing? You MUST have Korean players to make it worth watching? So you didn't watch dreamhack (1 or 2 koreans max?), Assembly winter, or any MLGs? They weren't competitive? I mean seriously. I doubt any of the pro-gamers who are app'ing, want to make this an "exclusive" tournament where we bar out any foreign nations, whether it be from EU, CH, TW or from KR. This line of thinking is just stupid. just like the TSL3 will be amazing to see our favorites go up against each other the NASL can be all that and possibly more, but not if it is limiting the players allowed just to "grow american esports" better. counter intuitive. It doesn't need to be exclusive, but the NASL certainly needs to have some restriction on the number of Korean players that are invited. TSL3 will be great, but so were the NA/EU tournaments that had very few, if any, Korean players. You CAN have a exciting, competitive, spectator friendly tournaments without mass Koreans. Once again, nobody is saying exclude Koreans because they're too good - NASL just needs to look at this issue very closely and make the best decision to grow e-sports and the NASL.

Their videos are more of a turn-off to me than anything, as it shows they can't even communicate properly during the event. They don't want to be a part of the scene, they just want to win the cash with as little effort given as possible. Bashing NrG's manager who has grown the team for six years for a valid comment is also particularly classy. What would you propose then as a test for communicating "properly." Literacy tests? Heard those worked quite well for blacks back in the day. The NrG manager and you should be bashed for harboring and promoting racist thought. Suffice it to say, I think that the majority of TL would rather watch July play in the USA, then you or NrG. User was banned for this post.
