ret OWNS on the balanced map, then has to play on fucking steppes and jungle fucking shit basin.
what a fucking joke. Yeah, pretty much... Hopefully GSL will start using user-made maps or BW map remakes sometime.
They should absolutely use BW map makers to get better map. David Kim also said he wanted tournament organizer to do this, as the ladder map pool is just to get different kind of matches (steppes = early aggression, shakuras more mid/lategame oriented).
Im very hesitant to see more GSL this season, its not fun when so much is cause of randomness caused by blizzards ladder map. I thought GOMTV would be professional in what they are doing, but they are not. List is building up now, not just live stream that is fucking up.

Steppes was definitely a really unfortunate map for ret.
However, how did the map negatively affect him in the third game? The problem with that map is taking a third is just ridiculous, but the natural is super safe. The game didn't go far enough for ret to even contemplate a third.
I would have thought, though I may be proved wrong, that that map actually favoured him in that fight. It's a very safe natural, and he was on two base vs a one base terran. TheBestfOu just had a strong build order and good micro.
Shame though, I really wanted ret to win. He smashed that first game.

Ret simply didn't deserve to go through, he played quite bad. He simply didn't adopt to the terran's playstyle at all.
+ Show Spoiler + Game 1 he took a risky broodlord tech, decent option against mech terran but he was a bit slow with it imo. If terran took the natural and the 3rd and then went viking Ret actually would have lost probably. His first reaction with the roaches was horrible as he took a WAY too long route with the roaches to come from the back getting the other roaches killed already before arriving.
Game 2 he played extremely greedy again. Even losing some stuff to the first poke off 1 base and then simply dying to banshee's. Why didn't he try to change up his game for 1 game or something at least, also his ovie scouting wasn't too good here.
Game 3 he should have held easily with the way jungle basin lets you protect the ramp. All he had for the first attack was basically queens and like 4 lings and it seems like he was completely surprised. Afterwards he kept scouting T had no expo yet he went muta anyway and droned up too much. He was constantly late getting (bane)lings in this matchup which lost him the game.
As for map pool, he can't really complain. Sure steppes is pretty awful (and almost every zerg got it coindedentally, as if they try to balance the results through maps a bit) but meta cross is about the best for Z and jungle basin is quite fine too.

You're being a little bit harsh on our Ret, arent you? Playing greedy is just his style, so does FruitDealer. Almost every zerg wants to be as greedy as possile since zerg's late game is so powerful. I agree that cross position on Meta is good for Zerg but not unplayable as Terran either. But SOW is pretty much unplayable as zerg if you opponent is decent. FD won on SOW is just because his opponent was nut enough to not 1-basing but expand and try to play a macro game with him.
Game 3, as Ret said, he made a mistake by not upgrade speed for ling. But his opponent's play is great to. Not that bad when you lost to something that actually good.
And being in the Ro32 first try is pretty exceed many people's expectation.
Ret, keep up the good work, be motivated. The last thing we want is an unmotivated Ret. You're a beast when you're motivated, you know that? Good luck !

poor ret. must be really frustrating to lose (maybe) because of those maps and that fuckin stupid new GSL randomized map rule.
Can't help but thinkin it had been an easy 2:0 if it wasnt for steppes of war.

Little harsh, but accurate. Jungle Basin had nothing to do with him losing that last game. If anything, another map would've been even harder to defend against that push. He misplayed, didn't react properly, assumed that he could get away with droning that hard.

100% agreed. He's a competitor, and he probably went into the series thinking he was going to win it instead of whining about the map pool. He'll be back and stronger than ever next time.
EDIT: Also Ret admitted he forgot ling speed in the last game. Who knows if that could have saved him that game? Probably would have considering how close it was at first. Stop complaining. It COULD have been deflected--maybe not easily.

finally someone saying this. i totally agree with u. can we be friends?

As long as anyone goes into the tournament with one playstyle (FE and drone hard regardless of situation/opponent/map) they're going to get knocked out. Everyone says "ohhhh terran 1 base all-in how predictable"; well, if it's so predictable then come up with a strategy that can stop it.

I am sad to hear that Ret is out.
Incidentally, I said in round of 64 matches that his real opponents will be the Zerg and Terran players, not Protoss. It was a bit too easy against that protoss, who let Ret expand everywhere on the map, and have a stream of endless units. Especially in the second game, where it is very difficult for the Zerg to expand, he still allowed Ret to expand. I don't know if it is because Protoss is weak or just that player sucks, but any player who watches Ret's style, will not him expand as freely.
Still, good job, considering this is the first GSL Ret participated. Does he get code A?

Ret spent about a week practicing against the various allins terran can do...... scouting is so hard on these maps (jungle and steppes) and he was surprised by stuff he never played against before, and misclicked lingpseed in game 3.. its nice for him when he goes to this thread and reads ur judgement on the games, it will help him improve i think

Wow Fruit almost got an upset, and the terran played very very bad. If this is the way fruit is goign to play it, then there is no chance for him to even come close to winning the GSL. To me fruit was very very lucky to qualify.

Just get over it everyone. It's been done and he lost which was very unfortunate as we all wanted him to go far. But there is always next time. What we need to do now is combine all of our frustration or w/e u want to say about this and go cheer for Jinro and IdrA (more so for Jinro as IdrA is already S class). It would be amazing when Jinro wins and Boxer wins too that they will face eachother in the ro16. JINRO VS SLAYERSBOXER IS POSSIBLE!!!
Oh well Jinro HWAITING!
