On Shakuras T can get a super-easy 3rd and 4th as well and split the map with tanks in the center. Just park 5 tanks behind the grass on your side of the map and you just secured your side.
On meta there's no position that lets you do that unless you wall off 2 chokes with double planetary fortresses (there was an old game of morrow vs ret doing it), so zerg can easily counter if you decide to push, so if your push doesnt win the game right then and there, you just insta lost.
Also on Shakuras if you get closer spawns, you can break the rocks and go into Z's main from the side with siege tanks, which is stupid imba, because they can reach almost to the main lair/hatch from below.
shakuras is sooo balanced. it's hard for t at first glance but the fact that the harrassing distance is longer then the walking distance(and especially more so if terran chooses to expand in the top/bottom direction) and that the tanks can barrage half of the possible expansions make it equally complicated to play for both z and t alike. Also people's map analysis pretty much stops at "oh this distance is long must favor zerg." When in reality on meta close by air positions are much more zerg favored then crossmap. Better for muta harrass. Harder for terran to drop you at multiple fronts late game. harder for terran to take gold and split map in half(very hard to break)
Shakuras can absolutely provide some AMAZING macro management games if it goes past 10 minute mark. Now only if ppl in GSL stopped 1 base allining 3/4 of the games ;\

Not to mention THE MOTHERFUCKING MAP POOL HE HAS AGAINST MOON
God I never thought I would ever complain about GSL or starcraft2.... BUT SERIOUSLY?! These players don't go to korea for fun - It's their job. They have to make results for their sponsors and teams and GSL is retarded enough to use these maps???

EDIT: off topic anyone know how much hp/shields interceptors have? is it 20/20?
They have 40/40 according to their article in Liquipedia for Sc2

maps > ret or what? so stupid ...
and what are you talking about? what maps has jinro? at least he is terran, so that means not much.
but nice that HongUn did a good job. must watch that game ...

To be honest I'd rather be in Jinros shoes playing Moon in a TvZ than in IdrA's shoes playing MVP in a ZvT. Then again to be completely honest I see both foreign players making it through this round so the argument is pointless.

everything is fair guys. Its not like ret didn't have any options. But, man, I hate terran all-ins, cheeses or whatever 1base-catch-offguard strategies. I am really dissatisfied with the quality of games because those kinds of strategies exist and win games. Horrible to watch. Slowly but gradually I am losing interest in SC2 scene, but who cares.

The maps are good for Jinro imo. His style is inclined towards long stable macro games and i'd rather see him play like taht on Scrap that fall to something crazy the zerg specially prepares for steps because he's afraid to play that map. Don't also forget that Moon is a wc3 player and teh longer the game goes on the more of an edge jinro has.
iirc though jinro has always had troubles on blistering, gonna check TLPD! nothign relevant there tt

interviews are up from tonite's matches

Do you guys know where i can see the final results for all gsl matches ... or just per day???/

im so fucking angry that fucking ret is out because of gom's stupid fucking decision to stop players from veto'ing fucking maps.
ret OWNS on the balanced map, then has to play on fucking steppes and jungle fucking shit basin.
what a fucking joke.

Poor NewDawn... And NOOOOO RET T_T

what a fucking joke. Yeah, pretty much... Hopefully GSL will start using user-made maps or BW map remakes sometime.

It's not like the terran 1 base pushes cannot be stopped. It's just very hard if you chose to FE as a zerg. Well...maybe use JulyZerg's build? It looked SO MUCH safer than these stupid FE builds? Hate to say it, but as long as zergs are fast expanding every single game without trying to adapt and then being killed by SCV/marines all ins, there is just not any basis for complaint...

what a fucking joke. Yup, to be fair though Ret did make some mistakes which if he didn't make he'd held off those pushes. But with better maps he wouldn't have had to play like a god to hold off a 1-base a-mover.
But the current map pool is retarded (blizzard's fault) and to not make something about like vetoing the worst maps is just as retarded (Gom's fault)

i don't understand the arguments about maps when ret basically folded under pressure and played really poorly

Only 2 remains of the original 5 fellowship of the Ring. Light grows dim as Frodo and Sam are nearing the Eye of Sauron.

The bad thing about Jungle Basin for zerg is that it's hard to take a third, before the game reaches that point it's actually a map that has a nice start for zerg with a long rush distance and safe natural. Blaming the map for Ret loosing that 3rd set really makes no sense.
|
daymn ret. at least he took a game off of thebestof
|
Definitely can't wait till the custom maps enter the pool, but I'm not convinced that its 100% of the reason ret dropped =[
|
Ret, well played tho, better luck next time
|
Steppes of war is definitely uberghey but you cannot blame a loss only on the map pool. There's always been harder matchups on nearly every map. You have no choice but to adapt.
Anyway it's not the competitors who make the rules. I'm sure Ret takes his loss in a much more manly way that most of you are ...
