Sorry but I have to be biased in this game! This JSL guy took away a huge part of what GSL3 could have meant for me.

I think he had a chance to reduce the colossus count with his drops at several times - better to remake marauders than overinvest in vikings.

Well JSL had way too many vikings and not enough MM and he even had a drop in HongUns main so he had even less units.

I mean honestly, if you were T and went up against Ret in a game for a lot of money, would you go into mass expand move and try to beat him in a macro game? Though so. Personally I would like to see the game changed to lessen the amount of viable 1base plays from T, but there is no way that can be done without making it possible for T to keep up with Z late game. As the game is currently, going beyond 2base against Z as T just seems incredibly risky, and often staying 1base over expanding to 2base seems like the better option too. Dont hate the player, hate the game. think the only way to do this is to make the maps bigger.. Current BW maps are so large that they almost always encourage a macro game... also it'll obviously change the metagame.. so blizz, when deciding balance changes, do take into consideration the map pool...

Introducing maps is up to blizz and they are also heavy sponsors for this tournament so GOM can only do so much regarding that(unless I've misunderstood it completely ![]() There are plenty of other Blizzard maps, though. :/ I'd love to see more games on maps like Crossfire, Junkyard, and Worldship, all of which I would take over Steppes any day of the week.

I disagree that Ret was outplayed. In fact he deserves credit for being so close to defending the push in the last game, despite the mistakes he made (player under pressure will almost certainly make more mistakes than the aggressive player anyway). From what I've seen in all 3 games, Ret is the better all-round player IMO. On balanced maps, Ret would probably win 7 series out of 10 against this guy. The thing that irks me is that silly things like this just fuel the talk of Korean superiority. I thought Ret defended amazing in the last game, so many times I thought he was dead lost but kept going. This doesn't mean he was the better player. All 3 games just confirmed what is the current viewpoint (not saying that I agree) on TvZ. If you let a zerg macro up and have map control (ala game 1), you're disadvantaging yourself. Likewise, if Zerg is too greedy eco-wise on smaller maps, they are vulnerable to aggression (games 2, 3). Again, I can respect your opinion that Ret is better, but the fact that he lost doesn't help your cause compared to if he won.
