a couple of poor decisions made under pressure cost him game 3. his fighting was scrappy but unfortunately thebest hit him just right with a good timing. sad to see ret go, metalopolis was terrifying with creep spread btw.

FUCK! That is so fucking irritating.

Ret was distinctly seemed like a stronger player. What I mean is that while Best played amazingly, he did so with a sort of gimmicky style, while Ret's style is something that will make him the best Zerg in the world soon. Best's use of rapid tech switching was amazing, allowing him to always have the abusive unit composition for the circumstances. It's not something I've seen much of before, at least at that level of execution.

While game 2 was on an entirely bullshit map, you can't say the maps are at fault for game 3 at all. Ask yourself why that map is bad for Zerg. Now ask yourself how that could have been an issue in a game against a one-baser. It does play a role in the Zerg's metagame assessment of the map, so I suppose it is abusive in that way, but Ret's metagame assessment could hardly have prepared him for that series.

I'm frustrated and disappointed that Ret lost, but his opponent won in an intelligent and well-executed manner. I guess I would be far far more pissed if our boy in blue had lost in any other fashion.

ret should have build more spine crawlers, no need for risk in his situation, his overlord seen everything. Deserved loss. GG Best

Ret had mostly drones when the first push came. That's the main reason he lost. He was too greedy.

The viking was left to kill overlords after that first push.

You can't just blame the maps and balance.

Ret fucked up and played too greedy.

just needed an extra crawler at the choke. Also.. no point in making lings and banelings when you are being forced to pulled drones to surround. Roaches + drones would've helped clean that up.

There was no all-in don't know what some people on this board are complaining about. The only problem was the maps. Ridiculous how only 1 map was good for zerg while the rest were unbelivably horrid.

So you would consider not taking an expo and throwing everything he has in one constant attack as not being all-in?

If ret had defended, the game would have been over 100%; so I would pretty much consider the terran in that situation to be "all-in"

It's funny how you actually have to drone. There was no overdrone in this game.
Do you even know how fucking ineffective all Zerg units are against MMM?
Very...

Zerg is so underpowered.

So underpowered that they won the past two GSL.

Terran is so underpowered.

So underpowered that they're on 5-0 on Jungle Basin, TvZ.

Hopefully, a Zerg can do it again this season.

can someone explain why the hate for Jungle Basin in ZvT? I agree that in mid-game it can be difficult to take a 3rd for z, but the game didn't get to that point. You get a free expo for pete's sake. wtflolroflomfg

The reason there's so much one basing is all the maps are fucking tiny compared to brood war, that's this first thing I noticed about this game.
everything is gravity

I don't understand the rage in this topic. I understand a TeamLiquid player lost, but people are acting like Ret lost to a nobody.

The Terran played very well with a well thought out strategy in SoW and with incredible micro in Jungle Basin.

A lot of you have been complaining about Marine + SCV rushing from Terrans every game when the Zerg FE's and this Terran didn't even really do it once.

So, basically, you got your wish and now you are even more up in arms.

As far as maps, maybe SoW isn't Zerg favored, but I clearly remember FruitDealer take a victory on it not too long ago. The map is winnable.

I remember Idra destroying terran players pre patch on steppes of war. (IEM)

People not giving enough credit to TheBest. He played well. Maps may have given him an advantage but Ret should have been able to overcome that if he is SO much better.

This mob mentality here about "zomg teh maps" here is pretty silly. As if spawning cross-position on metalopolis isn't a superbig advantage for Ret in the first game. In game 3 Ret made quite a lot of mistakes and he was outplayed by his opponent. The map actually didn't have anything to do with the loss, because the game never got to the late stages.

no, cross positions on Meta does not give zerg any advantages.
As Cliiide proven in his series vs leenock if you arent fucking garbage you can hang with Z in macro game. But as Mardow kindly pointed out if all you do is SCV all ins how can you ever learn to macro?
Just look at that retard sC making tanks and empty bunkers against muta in the SoW, or Best making tanks vs Broodlords game 1.

Funny how people don't recommend game 3 just because Ret lost, lol. That game was SICK intense, on both parts. It could have gone either way until the very last minute. Yes, we all(if not most) want Ret to continue, but don't diminish a truly epic game just because it didn't go your way.

i hope gomtv is going to reconsider giving the players a veto for the maps. because this system is crap, like the maps that blizzard made. i hope gomTV invites professional korean mapmakers for the GSL 2011, this was mentioned in SotG and this has to be done.

you bet against fruit dealer? you deserve to be 0/4 lol

Do you even play Starcraft? Maps are so central to race balance and we all know that Steppes and Jungle Basin are very difficult for Zerg.

Steppes bad map for zerg yes, but the game on Jungle didn't even get to mid and late game. Ret just lost to a timing.
