All of the players in this tourney already got S-class, so GSL season 3 doesn't mean the world to them, though obviously everyone wants to do well. I think the players would have used whatever strategies they thought could beat their opponents.

Do you really think anybody is going to be using their best strategies in the first couple rounds anyway though? They might want to save something but a tournament is a tournament. I liked that this one happened so quickly because it meant that nobody was spending a week with their teammates coming up with builds for a specific opponent. But yeah, the prize pool of GSL3 is a lot larger so I'm sure at least some of the players are taking it much more seriously.

Throughout the tournament you can tell the other players were all scared of Foxer's proxies/all-ins while Foxer was never afraid of them, he had the initiative. The same thing with Kyrix, he plays fearlessly and makes other people fear him. In game 2 vs TheWind, both players went for the exact same build, pool then banelings, but TheWind had to throw down a spine crawler. Why? Fear. Kyrix is the bomb.

Since he, unlike apparently many here, knows that even if he somehow was the favorite to win GSL 3, which he most certainly is not, he wouldn't be a big enough favorite to make up for the $5k he lost here. He just isn't nearly as good as some of you thought. Biased much? He's the only guy to have made two finals in a row. NesTea and Rainbow lost in the first round of this tournament. Foxer got another decisive victory over FruitDealer in the second round. He's shown that he's a strong player. As I've said a number of times at this point, I think it's just a matter of him playing below his skill level in the very last games of both tournaments. I would attribute that to nerves before anything else, I guess.

Does he fall off the face of the Earth?
