As you know the grand finals of Sony Ericsson STARCRAFTII Open Season2 is scheduled on Saturday Nov. 13th. To keep the STARCRAFTII fans from waiting too long there will be a Clan Special Event this week starting from tomorrow Nov. 9th.
The Clan Special Event is not a clan versus clan tournament like the Team Invitational but it will be special match ups between players within the same clan. Like the Team Invitational only the Korean broadcast will be available and there will be no English casted broadcasts provided.
Also the broadcast will be provided by the grid delivery system through our GOM Streamer. So to watch the broadcast you will have to download the latest version of our GOM Player. (GOM Player 2.1.27.5031) If you already downloaded the latest version no other downloads are required. Here is the link to download the latest GOM Player. http://www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_download.html
Since we are using the grid delivery system the broadcast may not be stable if not enough people are connected to the stream. The stream will be more stable if more and more people join to watch the live stream. So we hope many of you can join to watch our live stream and we will greatly appreciate your support.
The live broadcast does not require any tickets and you will be able to watch the live stream just by signing into our website. Since this is not a regular tournament event, there will be no VODs and live chatting service during & after broadcasting. Further information about the Clan Special Event will be posted soon at our website. Thank you for your support.
Hmm...doesn't sound too interesting to me. At least if they are playing against other clans, there is pride on the line. Guess I'll be catching up on some sleep this week.
Will their be an english commentary/english stream, or similar to the Team Invitational just have the Korean commentators? The OP didn't mention a start time at all, so I wouldn't be able to tell you in PST when that would be.
Be interesting to see which players the teams send out and if they've recruited any hidden gosus that we've never seen before. And pleaaaaaaase be Winner's League format.

People seem to have no clue what this actually is. Re-read the main post...this is just clan members playing against their own clan...nothing on the line or anything to be gained. Basically just an exhibition that they have no reason to take seriously.
Curious to see the format of this and how many games are to be played and who plays who~ Too bad Prime and oGs aren't playing since they do have more players them teams like IM and fOu :< IM is cool tho, see some mvp vs zergbong ~
is the HQ stream the same quality as the GSL HQ streams? This is my first taste of HQ rather than the SQ Test i've been using for all the GSL days.... imho the quality is reallllly similar...

Yeah, the primary difference is that you can read supply and other small print. It's not really very high quality.

For me SQ looks just like HQ thought that the HQ will be a lott better than the SQ but it aint.
I really like this idea of semi-formal clan games in stadium. I feel like its a great help to these lesser players by giving them lots of stage experience in low pressure situations.

This is pretty cool; I didn't actually know that different language versions had translated names for units (ie Sashin = Reaper, etc).. no more PLAGUUUUUU even if we had defilers, i guess ]:
These guys commentate too much on what the players are saying though haha.
I was surprised that the zerg in the 2nd game didn't try to punish the protoss for doing such a fast expansion on such close positions. He could have done a lot of damage if he made a bunch of roach lings. He could have opted for a quick 3rd instead but doing neither is suicide. He was way too passive and didn't macro enough to make up for it.

And for people getting errors, try reinstalling GOM player, it fixed the error code 0000000x51 or something like that for me.
Interesting game between Choya and Leenock. Leenock won against Choya's mass stalker with mass muta. Choya used a *lot* of cannons to defend an expo which was unusual. Choya used a few DTs as well but they didn't make that much impact i think. Leenock wins.
I've uninstalled, reinstalled. GOM keeps freezing. I open GOM then open the stream link and I just get an error. God this media player is so worthless. Thank god for restreamers.
if you're still having trouble with the stream after downloading the newest player try first opening the stream in IE, then without closing IE open it in firefox/chrome. sometimes that works for me.

Golden builds 4th and destroys Leenock's 3rd with a Nydus attack. Leenock knows he has to push but Golden has so much income that he can replenish his losses and should win now.
ZvZ is my favorite mirror matchup. Very micro-intensive in all stages. Was surprised it went for so long. With such massive macro they kept doing huge blows to each others armies and instantly replenished them.
Thanks for the results pachi! I only got to see a bit of the games - was the final a bo3? Golden looked ahead in the game on metalopolis, but i left as he dropped the expo hatch so i guess it couldve easily gone either way :S
Excited about more of these clan events, I <3 having a team to root for!
NEXGenius will eat Zenex up if he plays standard. I really don't know any other good players (note here good refers to good in relation to other pro players) besides him in Zenex. Kyrix is pretty good but I think his micro needs a bit of work before he can reach that level.
Excited for IM though, I wanna see more MVP. Not sure who else is in the clan besides him and Nestea though.

Flew his banshee right across the zergs army giving him plenty of time to prepare. Then a minute later flys a drop ship the same route and past an overlord that he was killing with a viking. The drop failed to do anything not surprisingly. Then the nail in the coffin is lowering his supply depot when the entire zerg army arrives at his front. The terran had an interesting build order though. Going ghost into 3 port viking medivac.
Hilarious that protoss got 20 gateways. He just chipped away at the terran while nearly instantly replenishing his army. Was surprised he didn't get high templar tech until so late when he didn't go for colossi. It worked well though. For the first time in a while I saw very good use of dark templars as well. Super late dark templar tech really caught the terran off guard.

He had templar archives before he got his gold, in fact storm finished researching just as he put down his gold or before, not late at all.
Toss clumped up all his HT's and they all got emp's multiple times. He didnt control the towers nor did he have obs so Terran was always dictating play.
They showed the dt's melting face a bit too late, but those were good.
I hope Tasteless is watching these. The observer has been awesome. In the final PvT battle he had the Collosus and the Vikings both highlighted, which made it very easy to see what was going on.

Yonghwa takes the game against Losira on scrap station. Not the best game tbh - losira FEs without any delay and takes out Yonghwa's probe. Yonghwa then expands off 1 gate and a core at the bottom of his ramp, adding on gateways and getting a very late robo. Losira attacks with roaches with burrow (no movement) and ends up overcommitting, continues with the pressure while adding hydras, ends up behind on the economy, while Yonghwa defends without losing his whole army. Yonghwa then gets colossi out, goes through the middle rocks and takes out Losira's army, despite Losira's concave advantage, and manages to keep his colossi alive (losira's transition to spire was too late), and Losira GGs.

Nah, it was his decision making. That type of army is going to get rolled vs a Toss ball, he needed an army to back it up instantly if he wanted to win.. instead, he got ultras after his army already died and toss cuold reinforce his.
Not to mention, I don't think hydra/roach is very strong at all against protoss that late in the game.

I just read the interview with the coach of ST and it pretty much says he is practicing with ST... So I think he's joined and has yet to change his name. Or somesuch. At least, that makes more sense than being in two teams at once ><

That was a very exciting game. Two perfect nukes. Two motherships. Two vortexes. Terran takes it though it looked like protoss had an upperhand until he lost too much at the planetary fortress. I bet the people who only watch the GSL main tournament games are going to regret missing this beauty of a game.

happens on HQ one too.. right channel
Go to audio settings, set the sound codec to "mono" and restart the player. Should work good enough then.
EDIT: Seems to not fix anything, probably a glitch with the audio delivery rather than any specific channel.

I think that was more or less what happened in Ace's last game in the GSL as well. His control is quite good but he lets his opponent get too many bases.
The protoss had great micro that game. His cannons were to deny the zerg base was clever. They definately paid for themselves. The zerg was smart to have overseers all over for the dt's. Overall was pretty impressed by the play on both sides. The zergs macro was quite good.

most likely, though no information until they come on.....
or at least until someone with inside info posts about it :s
I think DTs were too costly there, especially after the Zerg countered them sooooo well. Protoss defense was amazing, but that's ZvP I guess, you can afford to stream dozen of units while taking the whole base. Also very impressive flank by the Z in the end, it looked like he would lose a lot of ultras before he could actually take a fight. Nice game !
Yeah it looks like all the koreans in teams used their name changes to add in their clan tag as well as make their name korean. ST all have 스타테일, TSL is 티에스엘, etc.
Edit: Actually browsing through sc2ranks.com quick, seems like just ST and TSL switched to tag + korean name

bandwagon, blame fruitdealer for ruining it.
I like it, now it gives everyone a reason to learn Hangul :D
I really hope he qualifies for GSL3, cause Tester is what Toss needs right now, he can be their hero! If he would have won GSL 1, I think everyone would have put him as the most dominating player, he was so good during beta and even up to GSL 1, without him in GSL 2 seems like some people have forgot about him. Good luck to him in GSL 3!.
It would be a travesty if someone does some cheesy/all-in stuff to take him out again, just such solid protoss play you don't see from anyone else except Genius and SangHo, but I think he's better than them when he's in form.

Cool dropped half his army into Tester's back expo, then forgot about them for ages so Tester's main was left untouched. Then Tester beat the rest of Cool's army with forcefields and Immortal/Stalker/Archon vs Roach/Ling (Cool had some Infestors but they were Feedbacked). To cap it off, Cool rallied about 15 Roaches and 10 Drones through the path of Tester's army. All the while, two Void Rays were left unchecked cutting things up.
he went for big drop that took out testers in-base expansion but when he tried to attack the front his army got smashed by the storm/immortal/stalker army (nice feedbacks and storms)
tester pushed across the map and FD couldn't hold it. all he could really make was lings/roaches and tester had archon/immortal/stalker
kind of fucked up rallying some free roaches into the immortals/archons towards the end
the two VRs were denying the gold expo and harassing while all this was happening

Cool refused to build and push with hydras early out of a reason unknown to me - I know I'm in no position to give advice to these kinds of players, but going mass-roach/infestor(!) after a blink-stalker harass into void-rays instead of just getting a bunch of hydras and winning before tester could've had templar would've seemed much more intuitive to me.

iirc he said in one of the interviews (GSL1 one?) that artosis gave iirc, that he doesn't like to use hydras...
yeah it was close at the end. tester pretty much all-in pushing after losing a base to the drop.. if FD didn't give away those roaches with that rally he might have somehow held it but I don't think so with the two VRs in there
not sure why FD didn't at least make a hydra den :/. he had infestors but the 2 VRs were harassing all game and once his infestors got feedbacked he didn't have anything for them

Early pressure with 2zealots 2 stalkers (no sentry and not guarding the choke) 3gate blink stalker Expand Tech 2 VR and few phoenixes to harass and contain the roach/ling Expand again Make immortals and HTs while canoning in front of b3 and continuing harassing hatcheries with stargate units gg :p
On November 11 2010 23:00 Zaurus wrote: how did ssks open against fruitdealer? did he go stargate after expansion first?
3-gate blink stalker. took a pretty late expansion and made the stargate at the same time. blink pressure failed pretty badly because cool had a lot of speedlings
edit: pretty sure he was planning to expo as he never cut probes and didn't add a 4th gateway. he had the zealot attacking the in-base rocks before he moved out
Tester is such a boss. Go Tester in the finals. SangHo you get <3 too.
I feel we're neglecting smart, in the clan invitationals he's been really solid. Although losing all his matches you can see that he is really good but lacking in experience it seems.
That was an odd final battle. I thought SangHo was in a pretty good position, but he did almost nothing with all those Phoenix. Took out a medivac or two. Seemed like if he had just picked up 10 marauders or something that it could have been closer at least.
Well Sangho did overinvest in Phoenixes imo, he had something like 10+ which didn't really pay for themselves in harass. He also let Tester get a great bio arc.
sangho had a ton of phoenixes.. tester loses most of his vikings before the fight
Sangho has a few collossus/sentries and a ton of zealots + phoenixes .. tester attacks with big mmm + ghost before charge finishes :/
hit some nice emps getting all the sentries and most of the army. poor charge-less zealots got rolled and the phoenixes were kinda useless since he had very few vikings anyway. only got like 1-2 forcefields off because of the emp on all the sentries
it was painful to watch all the charge-less zealots try to walk into the giant arc of bio after getting emp'd. they just evaporated
The Phoenix play would have worked probably against any other Terran. When most see Colossi they try to go Viking to dominate them. Tester saw through that and instead of battling for the air, added more marine / marauder and used forward EMP on the ghosts to melt SangHo's army without even bothering against the air.
Really good play on his part. I don't know what SangHo could have done to turn that around except going for Templar early instead of getting so many Phoenix. And probably spreading his sentries out more. That would have helped immensely.
yeah looked like he was caught way off guard. don't think he expected tester to attack after losing all his vikings so the two ghosts caught the whole army in a clump outside the third. emps did disgusting damage

Pretty epic stuff. Can't imagine Tester as any other race than Toss. Tester is such a well rounded player, really solid. heh, I also think he looks liek badass in rl <- BALLER.
REALLY wanting him to go far in GSL 3, in2 the ro4 at least. Here's hoping he's still extremely lactose intolerant (1 gate vs 2 gate proxy rush whattttt) and doesn't botch anything (memories of ITR vs sSks)
LOL this is how balance-QQ on pro-level works - you don't go to forums to whine and cry but you off-race and stomp your opponent in the ground. After Sen's epic sentry-heavy PvZ now Tester's PvT who shows Terran how to roflpwn the NEXGenius-style of gateway/colossi/phoenixes....just throw some EMPs and lol at them with ridiculous masses of stuff.
TBH I think once ppl like drewbie start adding ghosts later on as standard part of their armies (with later I mean once they capitalized on their midgame advantage), P is gonna be in serious trouble.

I've seen it time and time again where mass marauder will just run a toss army over unless you get off some amazing forcefields.
I'm not sure if I'm right, but I remember the big army clash with the colossi being the last survivors of the protoss ball, and all of the gate units dead, meaning the colossi were as effective as possible but it still wasn't enough to kill the bio forces.

No 2 fights are ever identical, it doesn't change the fact that when you mass enough marauders they can basically stim in and destroy all of your colossi in a very short period of time and then run your army over. I've seen it happen many times and the randomness of it is often based on how good the forcefields are or the positioning and terrain.
It is the same with how ZvT and banelings work, the fights can swing heavily, and I think the fact that 200/200 armies can evaporate in seconds in this game is sorta a weaker aspect to the game.
It will also be similar in ZvP when people start to realize that baneling dropping on protoss can be pretty nasty if done right too.
