I really want to make sure I understand this right.

Liquid'Tyler managed to work his way all the way up in the losers brackets to semi-finals. Faces Painuser and goes 2-2 with him. And is considered the loser because they had faced earlier in the tournament?

Wat?

I'm sure his home is pretty rad. Just as sure am I that however much he has excercised recently he'll find it a tad difficult to catch.

Also having played Halo 2 in several tournaments the skill required for console gaming isn't that high. Everyone hits the same movement skill cap pretty quickly. Mouse and keyboard demonstrate alot more differential. Not to mention the games on a console typically run slower(Halo being the prime example) When you compare the traditional adaptability of PC FPS games to console the discrepancy just gets larger. Look at CoD4 on console "professionally" and then look at Promod on CoD4. The difference is massive(No hit indicator through objects/walls always stood out in my mind) Watching that MLG MW2 stream was painful, I could see the clunky console controls and the hit indicators through walls. I don't even want to mention the blatantly bad tactical decisions but watching someone score a kill then sprint around the corner only to successfully prevent the tiles on the wall from having bullet holes was only bearable the first time.

My buddies Xbox runs off a keyboard and mouse and it pains me to see him crush through people at what is a mediocre PC skill.

SC2 needs to get a higher prize pool as the superior e-sport. Unfortunately the NA market is big on consoles and they are more culturally accepted forms of gaming, so marketing influences what we see.

100 000 dollars for halo 3 winner? WTF

Biggest Halo tournament
100 000 / 4 = 25 000

Biggest Starcraft 2 tournament
85 000 / 1 = 85 000

WTF

I am not young enough to know everything.

It's not normally $25,000 for Halo per person, it's normally $5,000. The National Championships are a special invite-only event for the top 8 seeded teams. I'm sure they'll up the SCII prize money next year, or at least keep it at around $6,000, which would be more than Halo unless that also gets a raise.

Ya, difference is there are 30 players that can compete for top 8 for SC2, theres only like 12 teams that ever compete for top 8 in halo.

The halo brackets are bigger than the SC2 brackets.

You completely misread that.

I definitely didn't, it was a stupid comment. Just because there are dominant teams doesn't mean there are only like 12 teams. Stop being PC Elitists.

because its a team game. 12x4 = 48 players competing for top 8.

30 players? i thinks there are mutch more than just 30 players who are capable of getting top 8 in an Sc2 mlg event like this

I believe that's split amongst the team members. Also FPS gaming is a lot more popular (unfortunately) in the Western world. However, I do believe Blizzard is trying to push Starcraft 2 more and more into the Western e-sports community... hopefully.

which is why we all love Battle.net 2.0
E-Sports is competitive video gaming with a spectator fan base. Do not take the word "Sports" literally.

Right, but if its 4 players per team, the top 8 would be 8x4=32

So 48 competing for top 32 vs 30 competing for top 8.
