I'm sure they'll up the SCII prize money next year, or at least keep it at around $6,000, which would be more than Halo unless that also gets a raise. Ya, difference is there are 30 players that can compete for top 8 for SC2, theres only like 12 teams that ever compete for top 8 in halo.
So what you're saying is that there are 48 players who compete for top 8 in halo compared to 30 for SC2.

Why don't we just get the two players together in front of the cameras and just have them do rock scissor and paper? 1 win and Jinro gets 1st place.

That is very likely so be mentally prepared for that.

You completely misread that.

I believe that's split amongst the team members. Also FPS gaming is a lot more popular (unfortunately) in the Western world. However, I do believe Blizzard is trying to push Starcraft 2 more and more into the Western e-sports community... hopefully.

What is a "Late Night Cheeseburger" Is that the flavour you get when your fast food has been sitting under a heat lamp all day?
Because that's pretty disgusting.
Also having played Halo 2 in several tournaments the skill required for console gaming isn't that high. Everyone hits the same movement skill cap pretty quickly. Mouse and keyboard demonstrate alot more differential. Not to mention the games on a console typically run slower(Halo being the prime example) When you compare the traditional adaptability of PC FPS games to console the discrepancy just gets larger. Look at CoD4 on console "professionally" and then look at Promod on CoD4. The difference is massive(No hit indicator through objects/walls always stood out in my mind) Watching that MLG MW2 stream was painful, I could see the clunky console controls and the hit indicators through walls. I don't even want to mention the blatantly bad tactical decisions but watching someone score a kill then sprint around the corner only to successfully prevent the tiles on the wall from having bullet holes was only bearable the first time.
My buddies Xbox runs off a keyboard and mouse and it pains me to see him crush through people at what is a mediocre PC skill.
SC2 needs to get a higher prize pool as the superior e-sport. Unfortunately the NA market is big on consoles and they are more culturally accepted forms of gaming, so marketing influences what we see.

Well time to go out for dinner, hopefully the games will get started soon even if I miss the end. Hopefully LiquidJinro can get the win!

People bashing Halo are idiots... MLG was founded by a bunch of dudes who liked Halo and it has been funded solely (basically) from Halo since the first tournament. The Halo prize pool is obviously going to be bigger, first of all the brackets are bigger so more money comes into the tournament from Halo players. Secondly it's the third SC2 event and MLG's budget was decided a long time ago, it's kind of hard in the third event of a game late in an MLG season to decide and dedicated another hundred thousand dollars to it. Seriously you guys need to stop whining.
