Yeah, guess it shouldn't be ON AIR then. Oh well.

On Frosti's page above he says:
high quality stream starting at 19 CEST, which is 2 hours after the tournament start.
casting every semifinal and finalsmatch
recording every cast and uploading the single games on youtube, blip and own3d.tv
keeping the Teamliquid.net thead up to date about the go4sc2 cups and monthly finals

So maybe we've got a while till the stream comes on.

(btw this is #32 and the actual frosti stream is linked from the calander, the link above is just his page -http://www.own3d.tv/live/73 )

i wish they would split the bracket after some rounds to get it smaller. Similar to the Competo Cup would be very nice.

I agree with this completely.

That bracket is so large.

*edit
The stream's great quality and I also agree with the poker set up for payouts.

here the situation that commonly comes up, and once again comes up during this tournament

player a vs player b....
+ 8 streamers

game lags

player a and player b ask ppl to leave

1 person leaves

more lag

2nd person leaves

games ends horribly with horrible non microable battles becuz of lag

2nd game goes up

every1 gets kicked/banned because there is lag and when asked people dont leave including admins from the tournament which are shown lagging (keeperde)

sorry but yea i get sick of having my game streamed for 8 different people who lag then dont leave the games ever

edit: and this is talking about legitimate lag like players names showing up on the drop screen not even including the usual delay from cross realm play

I can agree with HuK. It should be fixed to 2 streamers at worst , because obviously we want to put a good show for the audience but to begin with, we want to win and play good games. HuK is a strong Protoss and I'd be more happy about beating him without any lag or happenings...

Can't really enjoy that now-_-

Streamers should be allowed to stream games but i agree that there are way too many streamers and obs in these games. So if its lagging for Huk then they have to go, simple as. Its very annoying when they decide to chat and do that ping thing midgame aswell.

I hope we don't see some more drama because of this anyway.

If you speak german yourself you hear nothing but the accent and that's terribly distracting.

i dont mind streamers at all

but i do mind when it lags then i say out and 1 person outs (with 8 ppl in the game) , then it lags again (keeperde shows) then he outs, then there continues to be lag.

its a constant battle just to get ppl to leave the game then i dont want ne1 in the game.

whats wrong with casters that streamed many many games without lagging once (ESL Take) then?
it totally sucks that so many obs are lagging and even refuse to leave! that isnt the case with professional streamers though. =/

MorroW is the deserved winner - I'm not as good as him in TvT and (no excuse here) I'm quiet tired. I really have to work on reading the opponent. First game I scouted his bust and still did expand and bunker up - I should have expanded in main and bunker up there.

GGs MorroW, you played well as expected.

Henning got kicked from the match. So have a look at the other streams or esl.tv.

I have to say, it gets really boring to follow dimaga on a stream in this tourney.
He only gets terrans and everyone is playing reapers every game
But dimaga does really well against this strat just morrow will probably beat him :d

Zerg would become 1 base vs 2 base terran which basically means Zerg instant loss.

Dear Go4SC2 guys,

STOP HAVING MORE PEOPLE IN THE GAME THAN YOU NEED.

During the FINALS that have MONEY on the line there are SEVERAL instances of random scrubs that cause lag in the game. What you DO in a PROFESSIONAL TOURNEY is have the players, the streamer (NOT FUCKING THREE) and maybe a ref if you need to. That's 4 people, 6 people TOPS.
I can't believe this happened, please up your game.

thanks.

a good terran like morrow will repel that sort of sneak attack with no problem. The bunker wall-off with bunkers behind disallow the Zerg player to expand in any fashion, and the Terran just goes crazy on economy and out-macros the Zerg for the rest of the game.
Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light.

He's invested 600 in bunkers and out of position marines, he has nothing in his base, instead of making the bling nest he could be halfway to tier two, if morrow tries to expand instead of massing an army the lings in his base in the next 2 min will auto win. Beats throwing blings at 6 bunkers.

If you are worried about getting the nydus worm inside morrows base, just put it middle map and get the bling nest after tech, could have baneling bust his front door easy.

What are you talking about I think she is great. She seems to know what she is talking about and not at all a "gimmick" like it sometimes feel when they get girls do these kinds of things... Sadly. I think both tesla and henning are doing great, but henning does seem a little bit louder, maybe someone can tell them to fix that?

Could it be possible that we have one single little tournament thread without 90% of the thread being dedicated to caster whine... They are doing great so far I think.

Just mute it if you for some reason find it that obnoxious.

On topic I think TreK will win this, rooting for him at least.

I don't speak a single word of German but I'm watching TaKe's stream by choice...

Also, how are casters still putting themselves ahead of players and refusing to leave games when there's lag? Shit blows my mind.

I'm not sure if he has won any SC2 tournies, but he is solid. He was a 2 time WCG winner for Warhammer and moved onto WC3 afterwards.

I was speaking strictly tournament results. According to sc2ranks he is #1 on the US ladder atm. If memory serves he is a Korean living in America while going to school? I'm sure somebody can correct me if I'm mistaken.

He actually went from WC3 to DoW and then back again. He was in SK's Korean WC3 team before switching to DoW.

I swear Dimaga is even worse against Protoss than Terran. I've seen him get 4-gated by so many lesser-skilled Protoss players.

void rays just do not cut it during tournaments... they might work in ladder games, but against a good tournament level player, they just fail. :/

Socke and nani won some games against Terrans with close positions on Metalopolis - their success entirely depends on not being seen, which failed that game haha

It's not that easy. That void ray build is very strong and you have to be really committed at protecting it to hold, and even if you do it's still not easy to follow up.

Fucking retarded spectators. Seriously, these games are cast live, why are you spectating anyways if you're not a caster or tourny organizer? Not sure why everybody doesn't just do a "no fucking spectator" rule.

Realistically there are around 15 different Terrans who can go really far in tournaments like these and then a handful of Protoss and only 1 Zerg. Huge respect for Dimaga for being the only Western-based Zerg able to stay competitive in the current game state.

I feel there are more good zerg players out there that could do well in this competition but you see them less and less in tournament like these. I guess they are just waiting for the patch or something.

I really don't think there are.

Guys like Haypro, Madfrog and Mardow regularly enter these cups and usually lose to the first good non-Zerg they face. I can't think of any other European Zergs that are definitely above them.

Since all these tournaments are extremely Terran heavy in the later rounds, you're going to have to beat 3 or 4 high level Terran players in a row to make it far and I don't think any European Zerg can do that, except Dimaga. He's the only Zerg in Europe I would pick to win a bo5 against someone like Merz, Naama or Jimpo, nevermind the top tier Terrans like Morrow, BratOK, Demuslim and Strelok.

I just don't think the Zerg race is competitive right now unless you're at the very top of the skill tree and even then you're fighting an uphill battle.

Wow. Just wow. I join a game and the asshole 6pools me and ofcourse its steppes. There was literally Nothing I could do. So fucking stupid, why cant tournaments learn that the maps in the Blizzard Ladder-pool arent Any good! The Only way (Only freaking way!) for us to ever get good usermade maps into the ladder is if tournaments start to use them.

Also, how pathetic do you have to be to 6pool in a tournament. It was his first win ever in like 5 tries in the tournament aswell -.-

GG and good luck next GO4sc2cup...

Getting usermade maps to ladder is hard, it took many years to blizzard add WC3 usermade maps to ladder. Broodwar it was okay because there was no ladder (private servers had ladders with own maps that point).

I just dont get how any tournament can take itself seriously with this map-pool. For instance, I got 4gate proxy-allined last Go4sc2. Guess which map. Desert oasis. Really, using Desert oasis in a tournament? Have we sunken that low?

Also, as it turns out the guy who beat me mains terran and just chose zerg so he could 6pool becouse it was Steppes. Cant we also have a freaking rule that says that you have to have 1 race? It takes out a lot of trouble (For instance some people play different races depending on maps/mus and so on)? The guy switched race just before the game started so ofc I was prepared for a terran so I 14pooled. -.-

Lost a lot of respect for both the SC2-community and ESL today.

No, the difference is that in GSL you can choose which maps you want to eliminate.

Pay attention to loading screen and play very safe builds (meaning that you can defend rushes) rather than standard builds. More you advance in bracket, move even closer to standard play.

Still it does not change the fact that it is played in the biggest tournament in the world right now and it is a map in the ladder pool as well.

Preparing for a 6pool on Steppes = 10pool. Im not gonna 10pool every game on Steppes couse if I do when somebody plays standard I autolose.

Then you will always lose to 6pool and always complain. Scout earlier and be prepared for it next time. This is a tournament. If you can't adapt your play to it then you will always lose in a tournament.

Pay attention to loading screen and play very safe builds (meaning that you can defend rushes) rather than standard builds. More you advance in bracket, move even closer to standard play.

Im not complaining about the strategy, ofcourse its my own fault for losing to it. However. I also lose a lot of respect to ESL for using such bad maps.

You sound like a really sore loser.
I mean you lose respect to ESL for using that map? You should lose respect to every tourney then, even GSL (yes you can vote it out, but still they are using it).

I think all tournaments should have the same system as GSL. Craftcup uses it (Or some other one, cant remember) and it´s great. Both players basicly just downvote maps until theres only 1 left, in that way both people get a map that suits their race and (Hopefully) is a good map.

tarson got roflstomped badly - although haypro played really good, it were more the blunders of tarson than awsome moves of the zerg that decided the game; getting all marines owned by banes quite early on one point and not unsieging the tanks later on....not that pretty

We have that system when Bo3 starts since this cup. I don't see the point in having it in a Best of One. Thank you for your feedback though, we are always interested in providing players with the best circumstances. That's one of the reasons why we removed Kulas Ravine from the Bo1-map rotation (although it's still in the map pool as soon as Bo3 starts). Which map would you consider balanced? All 4 player maps?

Really nice second map. Thought that Haypro had it when he had 5 bases but surprisingly Hasu really learned to macro and play a strong lategame. In the last days he seemed to have improved tremendously.

That was really good from Hasu. Excellent void ray/blink usage. I feel like Haypro should've just pumped out some mutas in the end to stop the ray harasses. Or maybe if he wanted to keep using hydras, use nyduses to connect the various bases together.

What Haypro should have done in second game to defend expansions?

I think investing some resources for banelings and burrow them stalkers firing range from hatchery positions and bomb them :D. Only problem is stopping observer revealing banelings without spending too much for corruptors.

Last game deserves really a WTF!
Such a brilliant comeback by Hasu and in addition to that PvZ is so refreshing to see and it also felt quite decent balancewise. So next time I hope that we will say the same mu maybe with the other race at the upper end!
But I also feel that Haypro`s play deserves some recognition, really strong Muta-micro with a solid macro and his vT against Cloud and Tarson were pretty formidable aswell.

well he shouldnt have gone for the 8 drones before the first push... but how to scout this ahead dunno and well somehow you gotta pull ahead ... he needed 2-3 banelings to kill the scv... the Terran controlled rather poorly

Also lol on Scrapstation at Zotac Protoss sends 1 zealots with attack command without prior scouting to the gold expo... :o ..

Hey ESL, are you guys working on improving the way your brackets are displayed? Scrolling up and down that 1024 bracket is getting really annoying, as is scrolling to the right and up and down to try to find the end grid.

1. Scrap station
2.No reapers
3. Tarson destroys mardow
4. If patch on wednesday has no more nerfs/buffs then what the situation report said, then all top gamers who are currently zerg will switch to terran or toss.

Dimaga losing to a no name thor repair guy, lol I feel so sorry for him its really sad. Blizzard better have some real changes on wednesday, or GSL will be boring for the viewers in the final rounds.

I guess if they're forced to play laggy games, every player should go in with a backup build focused around units that require the least micro.

@Semi finals go4sc2
madfrog vs adelscott.

1th game 7 pool on delta finishing off adel easy.

2th game Madfrog doing some insane stuff , 3 hatch before queen on kulas ravine? 4 hatch before any tech units.. Just wish it had worked, but it failed big time

3th game was a mess. I was rooting so hard for madfrog, but his build on meta was just horrible He most certently could have gotten away with a hatch first on meta, specially after zealot build nerf, but he was opting to go a late like 15 pool, long before expo, even tho had had banked like 350 minerals. Not sure what happened there, but he got rolled over by 4 warpgate vs lings/banelings.

Was so dissapointed after his insane skill in the quarters against SjoW. Everyone has to see the game on Xel Naga! I believe that was game 3. Best match I have seen after the g1 of TLOvsHyperdub

Immortal has allways been effective against tanks , but ye, its refreshing to see zealots not instantly vanish while charging.

I`m undecided how to rate Madfrogs play. His double-Hatch opening and mass-expo style looks very neat once it is running but I don`t know if it is competitive once the oponent knows what to expect. Nevertheless ZvT looks way more interesting after the patch as the Zerg seems to have a bit more time to get into the midgame without a huge economic disadvantage.

Its so frustrating since his the only player im truely rooting for And TLO ofc...

He doesnt have to play like this now after patch. You can pretty much safe hatch first on most maps, and drone up. The 4 hatch when he had like 15 lings was just insane, and could only work if adelscott had not attacked at all.

The game against sjow on xel naga it worked though, due to the failed preigniter hellion drop. Sjow was like 50 supply behind entire game, but fucking hatch sniping kept him in.with 2 vs 4.base.

Game on metalopolis was just sad though, and build order loss for madfrog. He needs to work on his ZvP, but his ZvT is exellent.

Madfrog just does his own thing, he was the same in WC3. He claims not to watch any replays (which I can definitely believe from watching him play) and he doesn't play (m)any custom practice games either. He seems to just develop his own builds in isolation and practice them on the ladder.

Hm one thing that concerns me about MFs build is that you reach T2 quite late and also do not have many Queens. So wouldn´t a harass with hellions (mainly to force him to invest in many lings and to hurt the Queen) followed by 2 Banshees be quite lethal against this?
@Cupatea: I agree but wouldn`t you say this his style is quite risky once the surprise effect vanishes? Madfrog did not play many cups recently and it generally was very quite about him so today it seemed that he could catch someone like Sjow pretty offguard. But sooner or later he will be forced to play more tournys as he is a fulltime pro and i wonder if it would be more reasonable to adapt to standard builds then.

Dunno if its intentional or what, but he seem to generate like up to 2k unspent minerals pretty early every single game. It does make sence if you are 100% sure you are not gonna get attacked, and just make 70 drones, like he did alot of the games, but its extreamly risky if you get tricked by a good hidden timing attack.

Mass burrow roach is becoming standard in zvp, don't know why people go storm anymore

Bunny seemed to keep pretty high in my division compared to terrans (thats how you judge good zerg players these days ^^ how close are they to terrans in points lol), though seems to be inactive now. Playing russian servers or what??

Just tuned in... God why does Ragequit.tv keep getting this same awful caster that can't speak clearly? Oh well *watches on BigT's channel* Which stream do you guys recommend?
You should not have to pay to watch the GSL, Proleague, or OSL at a reasonable time. That is not "fine" and it's BS to say otherwise. My sig since 2011. http://www.youtube.com/user/dabom88

They should only allow streamers who knows how to behave to observe the games. The large part of the screen filled up with useless chatter between the spectators really takes away from the fun of watching.

You talking about the Zotac cup? Yeah, Worgen certainly does make the streaming community look bad.

I was actually talking about Go4SC2, watching HenningK's stream, but it should really be that way for all tournaments. Non-streamers can watch streams instead of lagging up the games, and talking in the chat.

They almost never do that. I think the exception to the rule was the Homestory Cup because it was in English.

I felt that Socke somehow neglected the balance between macroing up and focussing on fighting as he wasted tons of Carriers, Void rays or HTs. But it is so entertaining to watch his lategame regardless ;-)

Well then we will likely see Goody replacing Bratok as he will face WhiteRa only 5 hours after the start of the tourney in SC1. Don´t think that he wants to participate in the ESL event while being in LA.

Somebody has to make a thread about but I am too lazy! Should be a good tournament in case of being the biggest series in Europe in the moment.

Prediction:

Hm I guess Mana`s Protoss play suits Goody quite well so he might have decent chances to advance.
Socke vs Satiini is a tough one as the latter is very good at (ab)using the Marine/Marauder-Medivac build and their last encounter was really close.
The outcome of the TvTs (Tarson vs Sjow and Kaas vs Naama) should be a matter of the daily shape as I would rate them all as about equally skilled but I will opt for the both Scandinavians.
