edit: actually, after taking a little while to think about it, I'm really kinda pissed about this as a player. I was excited about playing in a smaller bracket with randoms, and that's what I expected when I paid my $60. I figured I had a decent shot of cashing in and being streamed for a tournament designed to showcase up and coming players. Now there's another round to get through before the money and half the entries are going to be known players which screws over my equity and almost ensures that anyone making the stream has been seen before.
Lmao, stop caring so much about money. Seriously. There are over 248 teams in Halo who don't make any money. But they continue to play and attend events, for fun. You will have a blast.

Can anyone PM me where I can get one of the MLG Umad shirts to get in free to spectate? I can not find any hot topic or online where it is not sold out!!! Really want to get it so I can have something to remember for when I go!

Am I really being unreasonable thinking that after registering for what was advertised to be a random 32 bracket, then being told that my $60 put me in a random 32 bracket, I should be upset about suddenly being in a 64 man bracket with pros?
Tell me not to worry about money all you want, but you're an idiot if you don't think money's the reason these tournaments are going down to begin with. When I paid my $60, I was told it was going to be a random entry 32 man bracket, double elim bo3 per match etc etc. I never agreed to having to play against a bunch of pros and diamond players that suddenly get seeded well into our bracket.

BotD we'll refund your money, no problem. There are 1,000s of people complaining about not getting a pass. You should come to a tournament to prove you're the best and to do that you need to compete against the best. The bracket will still be randomly seeded as there is zero MLG match history prior to this event.
Think about if Halo:Reach gets added to the circuit and we don't reserve passes for the top teams. We would look completely absurd if the top 16 Halo 3 teams did not get into the first Reach event. The same applies here.
I understand your gripe but we never said we would not expand, in fact it has been the opposite. I have said in all of my communication that we are gauging interest with the first 32 passes. I was shocked (and happy) that the passes sold out in 2 minutes and 14 seconds. Naturally we want the best competition, so expanding it to allow for some of the top SC1 players to get in was something that had to be done.

Are we allowed to post a list of who's going? Because I know very many top players who are going... this tournament is actually going to be INSANELY competitive!

You guys are right, I'm sorry for being so bitchy about it before. I honestly am excited about this, just got too hung up on the potential for money. Been a rough week, I shouldn't have reacted that way.
See everyone in a few weeks. :D

While there will obviously need to be some tweaks made in the future with regards to the open registration, I think that this says it best, and makes me optimistic for the future:
This is our FIRST ever event for this title. Halo has been on the circuit for 7 years. Let's sell 32 passes first and then go from there. We all want this to be huge (emphasize ALL), but we need to build in steps. I would love to put down a flag that says 'HUGE' every time we pick up a title and know for a fact that given a specific formula of (bracket size, prize pot, # of stations=success). Sadly, it does not work like that.
Give us time. We want to build this right.

MLG is getting to be quite big, and the staff that runs the events knows a lot about what they are doing. However, both we and they know that it isn't easy to get everything right from the very beginning, and that only time will tell as far as the events go with regard to the future. However, considering that MLG is Blizzard's official North American partner, I'm sure the companies with such power and substantial resources will do everything that they can in order to make the endeavors a success. Just as I said with the brilliant news from GomTV's announcement, this follows in the same vein: Blizzard is really showing their commitment to getting e-Sports off of the ground with StarCraft 2, and I, for one, am very impressed at their actions so far. I think that they deserve some time to get the wrinkles ironed out to ensure that they can create the best tournaments possible, both at home and overseas.

Blizzard's been a great partner to work with on this.
RE: Player list. Please don't post it yet. We're still awaiting confirmation on a few folks, once that's all final, we'll release the full 64 player list for everyone to see.
On comp specs, Mote posted these for me on MLGpro.com:
The SC2 Pro Circuit tournament will be played on custom built computers with the following specifications:
CPU: Core i5-650 3.20ghz Memory: 4GB DDR3 1600 GPU: GeForce 9800 GTX+ HDD: 250GB 7200RPM
As a reminder, only USB mice and keyboards may be used.

Here's a quote from the page announcing the expansion to 64 players:
Please note that these reputation-based invitations will only be used at MLG Raleigh. All future StarCraft 2 MLG Events will use the standard MLG Pro Circuit points system. The Top 16 players to come out of Raleigh will be issued invitations to the next Event, in D.C., and the remaining passes for that Event will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
What I don't understand is that you guys realized after the fact that doing things on a first come first serve basis, like concert tickets or something, won't bring out the best competition, but you're falling back on this first-come first-serve thing for "all future events". I get that the top 16 players from this competition will be seeded in the next event, and that's cool.. but you'd better be dead on with the 32 people you invite because it sounds like that's the only chance to get actual talent into the series rather than any joe schmo who gets lucky in a 2 minute, 14 second period.
Strategies are constantly evolving, new up and coming stars are being formed every week.. why limit the MLG level of competition to this one-time 32 player invite, and from there on out say "good luck being one of the 16 people (out of thousands clicking 'refresh') to purchase a pass to the next event".
Wouldn't large online qualifiers solve these problems?

I think IdrA has a crush on HuK

Qxc is actually housing with us so I know he's coming =D

Probably shouldn't say any more than that lol, the MLG guys do a good job on PR and they'll announce the list of whos going when its time. Also seems unlikely that IdrA, regardless of his absolute love for HuK, will show up. I guess he has the choice between MLG Raleigh, WCG USA Finals, ESL Finals, WCG Grand Finals, and MLG DC if he stays in the US for a month or two. Or he can stay in Korea and potentially earn the first place prizes of 4 of those 5 events, multiplied by like 10.
