Its why you never see fnatic's halo team on the featured stage. I'm guessing that they don't plan on showing the starcraft 2 people on camera at all, since most people who are on teams with team clothing and team sponsors will conflict with the mlg sponsors. With policies stupid like that they won't get anywhere, I think. They're all about money even before they have any sort of success. O_o No its because fnatic never makes it even close to top 24 in the championship bracket......... Not true. Power has made it to the mainstage several times and they wore their power jerseys with their sponsors on it.

It appears they need the pass costs to cover some of the prize money (like a 3rd of it :/) and you can't really charge invites. I don't see open tournaments giving us that good of a show with 32 players, it's hard to run brackets much bigger than that on PCs, and they don't seem to like invite systems. Not really looking that good compared to ESL.

Do they send emails later? There isn't anything you need to printout or take there, they'll just ask you at the door for your forum name and stuff.

Not really looking that good compared to ESL. blargh. They already said if there is a high enough demand they will have more spots in the future. MLG has never run an RTS, give them some time. The great thing about MLG is that they really listen to their community. Give feedback and see what happens. I don't think invites are the right way to go. It will scare alot of people away because when pro's like Idra/Tester are invited nobody think they will stand a chance. It just needs to grow first. Anyway can't wait for the live stream! So you'll probably only watch the semi-finals and up. Not sure how good everyone will be, but you'll be watching the best of who was there. Open reg/qualifiers are the way to go.

There are no qualifications for entering, therefore literally any level of player could be in this thing. I will not be watching it unless some interesting names pop-up. MLG was not built for open bracket 32 spot tournaments. They are a team organization, and I don't know how long this will last. This is just a test run to gague the popularity and see how everything works before they have a larger bracket in future tournaments. Plus, when Halo first started in MLG they had open brackets to establish the "pro" bracket. I am sure that after a season they will have predetermined "pro" players and make only a few spots from the open brackets make it into the main event.

Please note that these reputation-based invitations will only be used at MLG Raleigh. All future StarCraft 2 MLG Events will use the standard MLG Pro Circuit points system. The Top 16 players to come out of Raleigh will be issued invitations to the next Event, in D.C., and the remaining passes for that Event will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Good to all those who get invited and those who already have a pass for MLG Raleigh

edit: actually, after taking a little while to think about it, I'm really kinda pissed about this as a player. I was excited about playing in a smaller bracket with randoms, and that's what I expected when I paid my $60. I figured I had a decent shot of cashing in and being streamed for a tournament designed to showcase up and coming players. Now there's another round to get through before the money and half the entries are going to be known players which screws over my equity and almost ensures that anyone making the stream has been seen before.
