Most people haven't even tried it enough times to get the hang of it though imo. I won't say it's necessarily better than going up to 3 gates, but he must have had a reason to opt for that kind of response. If you considered the fact that he ran into the exact same strategy against sOs in Hot6 recently (except he actually missed the gates), this sort of stuff must be fresh in his mind.

Yeah I know I absolutely couldn't come even close to what Rain did there (even if it was outside my main). I think he stayed on 1 gate because he scouted it late, and it wouldn't have been optimal to cancel both assimilator and start a very delayed 2nd gateway.

It was still pretty close though, I'd say if HuK killed a few more probes and got his gateway at home a bit earlier the game could have been equal.

Another answer if it's inside your main is to pull the probes, it works but you still end up in a meh position because of all the lost mining time.

10 gate 3 gate blink doesn't exist. The best PvP all in is still 2 gate proxy, most of the others are easily denied by photon overcharge. 10 gate into 3 gate / first warp in ~5:20 (without blink) is probably reasonably good in low leagues though.

If I may ask, why do you want to do only all ins? To understand the game you should probably learn how to play macro too. Just so that you aren't completely screwed up if your attack fails even when you deal enough damage.


10 gate 3 gate is more than reasonably good, especially at lower leagues. In fact, i'd say 2 gate proxy is one of the weakest all ins (although there are many variations so i don't know which one you're talking about). Pure zealot ones become so much easier to hold by just scouting your main base, and ones further away can be held off without even scouting them. Stalker variations are indeed strong, but are very micro-intensive and don't have a ton of margin for error. Of course, most all ins become easier to hold after you scout them, but for proxy 2 gate, that fact is especially true.


I still lose very often against scouted proxy gateways even if I know what to do, and I don't think my micro is terrible. Plus many people proxy them outside your natural and it's not efficient to scout everywhere or 9 scout your opponent's base.
There's no other all in in PvP that I lose to when I scout it, maybe 10 gate into 3 gate and cannon rush sometimes too. That's mainly to say that PvP all ins are not that good nowadays because of photon overcharge. Obviously I'm talking about all ins which you decide to do from the start, not reactive ones like for example -" I see my opponent is going stargate expand so I blink all in him "


I use to think the same, but if it's an in-base proxy you can just kill the first gate with probes. You lose a lot of mining time, but it's an extremely safe way to not die to a proxy 2gate that never fails and has far more margin for error than trying to out micro zealots with zealots and probes. They get absolutely no damage done, and you only have to stay on one gateway, basically they are forced to transition into a normal game with a disadvantage. Obviously, if you do a zealot response you can win outright, but i this response is safer and you don't get that horrible feeling of scouting the gates and still losing to it cos of a couple mistakes.

This is only for in-base proxies of course. But i stand by my statement that if it's not in your base, then they're so much easier to hold that it doesn't even matter. You can even beat unscouted proxy 2 gates if they are in your natural or somewhere even further away, and trust me, my micro is practically diamond level so i doubt your micro is worse than mine.
Ganzi beat me without stim. Ostojiy beat me with a nydus. Siphonn beat me with probes. Revival beat my sentry-immortal all-in.

You need 4-5 probes per gateway to stop it, assuming you 13 scout it, which means you'll have 3-4 probes left mining. That's enough to build zealots from 1 gateway and not get supply blocked.

That's my standard answer too, but I feel like I end up behind because of all the lost mining time.

And regarding the distance. I lost multiple times to zealot proxy outside my natural, just because I usually go 1 gate tech skipping the zealot. Good luck at microing when 3 zealots show up when you have a twilight council/stargate on the way and a mothership core just started.

I like to build my first pylon behind my mineral line on the edge of the map, and wall it off with my gateway and cybercore. It makes it easier to get 1-2 stalkers out against proxies because it won't get unpowered. It's also good against gateway timings because they can't unpower your gates that easily.

In my efforts to try and find a valid way to play PvT with High Templar, I've decided to come here and ask for some opinions and help.
I've tried three main ways of opening up to get templar without dieing to Mines, written in my order of preferance;
- Oracle, Tech to Charge + Storm rapidly, use Phoenix to defend drops initially and use oracle + phoenix to pick of Widow Mines.
- Open Robo with Warp Prism and Observers, go for a Chargelot Immortal Archon composition and add Storm soon.
- Open Blink and add Templar Archives.

Do you guys have any opinions ?

The koreans are saying that phoenix -> templar is the only way to play templar, but it's extremely hard to do.

I can't really find any games, that's why.

Well, I concluded the same thing, which is nice.

I'm still having a ton of trouble with when to commence Phoenix production and when to get Storm/Charge/Armor upgrades/3rd base... Trial and Error is!

take a look at liquid hero vs polt on catelenna wcs season 3. he demonstrated a super sick phoenix templar play. his builds might be hard to execute but its VERY VERY fun to play.

What comp i have to go again Hellbat Tank Ghost?

i got a game where i was winning hard but the terran just turtled in 3 bases vs 5 (i was in 5), and then pushed out with like 20 tanks hellbats and a lot of ghosts

i was full inmortal archons with some zealots, but inmortals just attack hellbats while i cant stop ghosts from getting 2-3 imp off in a 50% of my army of inmortals and gg. i had 3-4 templar but i just feedback 3-4 ghost before getting killed by tanks/ imp

it isnt the first time
I feel like i cant win again mech in PvT even it is suppossed to no be viable. Feel like inmortals are useless again 5+ tanks

PD: It was 20 tanks 16 hellbats 10 ghost 12 vikings vs 17 inmortals 7 archon 25 zealots 5 templars 2 colosos +/-
PD2: Sorry bad english.

The easiest way to lose that Protoss army is to be clumped while engaging into his mass AOE: do you have a replay? Given you say your micro is less than optimal, I imagine you attack without flanking. That being said, High Templar and Air Tech are excellent verse these kinds of all ins off 2/3 bases, there's simply no money for a rapid transition.

Classic vs Polt (Blizzcon) on Merry Go Round as well, and I do think he did it in other PvTs at Blizzcon too.

Yeah that style can be sort of ok i guess, but it's ABSOULTELY OMG MANDATORY IMPORTANT to destroy his 2medivac push. I'm not talking just defending it and killing a few units, you NEED to absolutely kill everything including at least 2 medivacs (plus if possible the 2 that are rallied). If you don't you are really really fucked because the terran can just lol and make mines while still having a scary bio army.

Anyone can upload please a replay or a vod about a Protoss vs Terran mech? cant find vods in youtube for profesional games.
I just cant win again mech. I had win like 1 from 10 games again mech, and again bio i win like 65% of my games...Im top plat.

The tanks are so fucking op kills everything, zealots, stalkers, inmortals, archons, everything in 3 seg. I tried to go Void but they scout my voids they just make vikings and anyway they get destroyed by marines/vikings before they can get in range to attack tanks.

Inmortals they get out the shield by the aoe in like 2 shoots of 10-15 tanks. And they cant hit tanks they have to focus marines/maraudres/hellbat.

They usually open with WM drop main Hellion harras or banshe. delaying his expa, i defend this easy, when i defend they already had 2nd and i get 3rd because i think they should cant move. But even if im 1 base ahead i keep losing, i cant attack and if they get the tanks outside of my base i just cant move. And i sucks at 5 bases or more, if they start droping hellbats
