I am finding that I can sometimes make zealot-based comps work in the open field, but they don't win games. Meanwhile marines and to some extent zerglings are viable in every matchup, from beginning to end. Does anyone here actually use zealots as a major part of your army comp and how do you make them work? And I don't mean using a warp prism to kill workers, any unit can kill workers lol. Just zealots? Unless you're doing a San gate or korean 4 gate (10 gate into "gasless" 4 gate, only getting 50 gas for wg), not at all. There's also the man train strategy which is pure zealot immortal with a warp prism if that counts in your opinion, but aside from that... nothing.

Nah I just said "major part of the army comp," not the only unit, but not just thrown in as a "meat shield" as people like to call it. As for zealot/archon, how viable is this after the widow mine buff? I was under the impression that this is pretty weak now. I never see pros using it anymore. I also don't see it working very well against roach/hydra, swarm host, colossus/stalker, etc. I could be wrong though.

The Blink player should be looking to blink into the main and drag the 1GFE player into their main to defend, before trapping the 1GFE player in their main by FFing and blinking down to kill the natural. Thanks for the quick and concise response ![]()

Some will just give up their natural and accept that they're contained, and try to break out with a Warp Prism to elevator units. Others will try to hold their natural and that is when you should try to Blink into the main to do damage. On some maps, for example Cloud Kingdom, it is very hard to hold both main and natural because of how easy it is for the opponent to get into the main. On maps like Overgrowth though, where there is only really one location to blink into the main, it can be very hard for the blink player to get anything done. Blink is very map-specific in PvP. That makes sense, it's the same dynamic as exists in PvT, which is what I'm familiar with.

Edit: VODs don't matter. Need replays. I find VODs are great for ideas. Not for BO's.

Looking for macro. And looking for someone where I can find a lot of replays from recent games. Anything past WM buff is good. Edit: VODs don't matter. Need replays. I find VODs are great for ideas. Not for BO's. CJherO is probably the most renowned PvT player at the moment, although I'm not sure about super recent replays. You might be able to find some from recent IEM's if there have been any.

Also, I am assuming if the Z is on 2 base, I should feel no urge to try to expo to a 3rd before them, correct? One more question, sorry (and thank you). Are there any builds/allins which are very strong versus the 1 gate FE robo -> 3gate PvP opening?

Also, I am assuming if the Z is on 2 base, I should feel no urge to try to expo to a 3rd before them, correct? I'm a Zerg user and I think this is correct. I think a more standard robo timing is just before or right at 6:00. I'd suggest sticking with that timing, even if you scout a delayed Zerg 3rd (then probe to 44). Maybe 2 Chrono's into observer/immortal/immortal? That should give you a great scout before 8:20 and great defense. After you scout adjust your build accordingly, whether that be double star gate, Robotics Bay, more Immortals to push/defend or expand....whatever.One more question, sorry (and thank you). Are there any builds/allins which are very strong versus the 1 gate FE robo -> 3gate PvP opening? I watched some games in IEM San Jose?? (can't remember players or map sorry) where one player opened 1 gate FE robo and the other opened proxy Star Gate into double Oracle while transitioning to 3 gate blink with offensive pylons. The Star gate opener kept 1 Oracle at his opponents main and natural and constantly attacked, harassed, and threatened while building up a nice blink Stalker count. So use the Oracles to deny mining, kill probes, split up your opponents Stalkers, and mess up their macro while you decide when and where to attack until you eventually have an advantage in either their main or natural.

Yes, go standard stargate>colo. Opening robo vs 2base zerg isn't very good. On November 25 2014 13:42 Fission wrote: One more question, sorry (and thank you). Light 3gate pressure can also work decently
