I faced my friend (Terran Diamond) and he did me fast mines then little siege (some tanks in siege with marines) then raven then massive siege with bunch of mines + some banshees. In one game I suvived 40m because I barely defended until Swarm Hosts, but I died anyway. The question is : with an opening without gaz (4 queens), what is the best defense against mines ? I did some spores but it asked me a lot of micro and mining delaying. Thanks

Like my swarm brethren I've had lots of difiiculties in the ZvT matchup, but I've slowly figured out my response to the biomine playstyle (hydra/sh/bminh). But HOW ON EARTH do you deal with mech? Terran opens with 1 reaper expand into hellbat/mine drop harass while getting 3/4 bases & steamrolling me. In WoL the standard response would be to double expand and start an endless wave of roaches to keep him from getting a third and just trade in roaches for thor/tank untill he gives up or i get Broods. Now however those damn hellbats make mass roach impossible. They have sooo much health I simply can't kill them fast enough to get to the tanks. And muta harass is just stupid with widow mines. They mass tanks & hellbats and just Amove to victory. I've tried lots of different compositions and only quick broodlords seem to work. But even then he just amoves to my main, forcing me to kill 40 tanks which takes a looooong time while he remaxes on viking/thor/raven. What the hell are you supposed to do???

I'm having a hard time dealing with chesse terran, They send out a scv on 13 and build a supply depot or engi bay @ my natural deleying the hatch, while they take a early expo with widow mines, follow up by a widow mine hellion all in, I get all my stuff so behind, even with speed/roaches I can't trade with the mines, no lair is out when they hit. What is the best response to dealing with geting hatched block by Terran?

What is the best response to dealing with geting hatched block by Terran? attack his scv and let 1 drone attack the ebay. instantly build your pool, take gas and get lingspeed. ebay block means he cant 888 or 11 11. then take your natural + 2nd queen and play a standard game. things like early WM or helion all in come so late your hatch will be ready anyway and you can deal with it the same way as with hatch first.

Ultras/roaches + vipers works fine for me against tank-centric mech, decent against thor-centric (though neural parasite + ultra is better here). I actually feel that with addition of new zerg tools and ultra buff in HotS pure mech is now weaker in ZvT compared to WoL mech.

Like above poster said, Mech is easier to deal with then wol. Infestor tech with neural into broodlord deals with mech pretty easy. Roach/hydra/viper deals with tank based mech pretty easy to, just need to control vipers properly to cast cloud on tanks. Ultra/infesotr also is not a bad option as well. Depends what kind of mech they play. I find the hardest mech to play vs is the one where they Turtle so hard with alot of planetary fortresses and then they go into Sky terran with heavy raven/vikings, vs that it becomes very hard to engage and have to resort to heavy broodlord/infestor/corrupter and try to avoid the ravens seekers.

Here's a replay where I sort of make random units and roach/hydra because I think it would work. http://drop.sc/318923

This might be a little too basic for this thread, but it's something that I've been having trouble with. Especially transitioning into late game units in ZvT. I either keep making the same units over and over, or I just make random units I think would help. Here's a replay where I sort of make random units and roach/hydra because I think it would work. http://drop.sc/318923 When it comes to transition. You need to be able indetify you have the time to do it. 1) You did some sorf of timing attack(lets say 2base roach push) wich did put you ahead or even. Now it is time to transition because terran army is slower to replenish. 2) For same reason after you hold a push from terran you can tech up. 3) You can also tech up if you are able to indetify his play as heavy macro/tech oriented (3cc,cloak banshee..). This might be the most tricky one and least intuitive but also the one you will face the most in "normal" games. For the transitions if you want to play roach/hydra/viper style. You should open with roaches and start adding hydras/infestors after his first push (if you scout one) or straight up if hes doing macro heavy style. Later in game for transition into vipers and possibly other T3. You need to feel "safe" to do it there is usually no general timings unless the ones opened with attacking. If you feel you could win or be even in the fight if that fight was to happen you are free to tech up. Hope it makes sense

After ling speed is done, should i be aggressive or defensive? How many drones do i have to loose to come out behind? If they produce more than 2 reapers it's possible to baneling bust them and do decent damage. Otherwise, with standard reaper/hellion build they will be safe. You shouldn't lose any drones to this opener if you play perfectly, but if you lose 2 or less then it's probably acceptable at most levels of play.

How many drones do i have to loose to come out behind? make a round of lings when speed is about 75% done. then as it's about to finish try to catch the reapers and kill them. don't just a move, try to surround! if they have a cliff nearby split your lings up so he can't just jump up and down that cliff. if you can do that and maybe make one more round of lings depending on how many drones and lings you have then you can attack terran and kill his first couple of helions and probably some scvs while taking your 3rd and droning up safely. i really don't think reaper openings are particularly scary if it's not a korean controlling them.

Idra plays on the lowest settings, but it shows up on med to. Just hard to see if you play on Ultra settings

I tried ultras, hydras and corruptors and some vipers with blind, i manage to kill the ground army a few times but his air units persisted. I'm kinda lost in the late game ZvP when they have powerful air units..... i just want to say it: dont allow toss to get into late game with high end tech. a 3rd quick hatch in ZvPis more advantage for toss than for zerg. toss can boost eco as well and is 1 step closer to the deathball, whatever the ball looks like. imho, 2 base agression into 3rd hatch, is the way better option. zergs should get away from the "zerg is the makro race" thingy. if both would make an agreement, "no attacking before minute 16", who do you think comes ahead out of this? its clearly the toss.

I would start here: [G] First Overview of HotS Zerg and maybe here: [G] An Overview of the Zerg Match-ups The second one is more of a history lesson at this point, but could still be helpful if you haven't been following the scene for a while.
