Sundr, TheCore doesn't have the hotkeys for the Coop/Campaign, unless you download mine RRM version (there is no mess, just the cloak/decloak unbound). Just create separate hotkey profiles and switch between them as you need

Working on 4.0 and 4.0+

They will be multiplayer only, one size fits all, left and right. We're going to see how a leaner, simpler product feels. Improve communication between users, take out the complexity in finding the correct layout, etc.

That said, as always, I strongly suggest NOT upgrading to 4.0 if you have 3.0 or earlier. To prevent bias, each new version is designed with a brand new player in mind. It seeks ultimate efficiency regardless of what is intuitive or what came before it.

More importantly I'm working on a video that explains what TheCore is and how you can apply the principles to any PC game for a more comfortable experience long term.

@Erob:
Thousands of people use TheCore (at least) including high level players like Showtime, PiG, Neuro, and Probe. We're here, just reach out with your questions. If no one in the thread can help, tweet at me or email me or smth (everything is JaKaTaKtv) and I'll help you out

@asdir and defenders of the shift inject:
I don't see the advantage in shift inject. Camera location keys + manual select is the more consistent and frees up a control group as there is no need to CG injecting queens. Sure, it might be a hair faster, but that is not worth the utility of an entire control group. (usually a close one at that)

@Sundr
You need to have a different hotkey layout for each mode you play. You need also, to have a different hotkey layout for every arcade game you play. When you load up for one version with the "wrong" hotkeys selected as the active profile, the game asks you if you want to save the changes. DO NOT DO THIS as it will overwrite and unbind many keys. Just ignore/cancel out and then change your profile to the correct one. It's a pain in the ass, but it's all we have.

TheCore 4.0 (and 4.0+) are officially under construction!!!




Shit that's changing:

  1. We're removing a lot of the complexity in the download process by removing sizes and race optimization. Each player is encouraged to adjust the stock version to fit their preferences.
  2. We're completely ignoring Co-op and Campaign. DIY or try TheCore Lite
  3. This OP is about to get a lot cleaner and simpler

@shift-inject: Jakatak is completey right of course. Only after getting back to properly playing did I realize that queens could inject multiple times on one hatchery. I felt a bit stiupid then for even asking how shift-inject works now. As I said, was just getting back into it... XD

I just downloaded The Core from GitHub, selected The Core ZRM inside Latin (I have Spanish keyboard, Zerg, Right hand, medium size). After loading the hotkeys into SC2, I find that there are a lot of unbound hotkeys. For instance: baneling explosion, morh larva to roach, morph corruptor to brood lord, spawn creep tumor, etc.

How can I fix this? Thanks!

Does anything change in v4 as far as the philosophy of index+ring finger do CGs and cameras while middle+little finger do commands and abilities?

Just started playing with the new version and noticed a few things. Not a big deal, but build basic is only bound to it's alternative key. at least for the righty profiles. Also was what what the logic was for the priority of the Battlecruiser hotkeys. It seems very unintuitive that yamato isn't on pinky/'j' which is generally the pain attack ability hotkey for every unit. Is this a biproduct of trying to get all the movement related abilities onto the same button?

Core4PlusRight: Noticed some camera hotkey discrepancies between the spreadsheet and the hotkey file. Numbers are off( spreadsheet has cam 1234 as as JPOI, but the file use POIJ). Also spreadsheet has create cam1( J key cam) as ctrl-alt and recall as ctrl, but hotkey file uses ctrl for create and alt for recall. I guessing the spreadsheet is the intended bindings?

Hey everyone! Checking in after a round of bug fixing. If you're interested in a "Why?" question, it's possibly already in TheCore 4.0 Handbook. If it's not I'll add it All reported bugs at this point are fixed with the exception of the mac keyboard bug, we won't be creating mac versions of all the current regions. Mac users: download as usual and fix the unbounds (sorry: time/complexity constraints).

When the files disagree with the spreadsheet, go with the spreadsheet and report the inconsistency to me. Then I will fix

Keep in mind that the order of the camera keys isn't important as long as it matches with itself (recall cg 1 and set cg 1 should be the same key out with different modifiers *usually*).

Couple of images below for Core 4.0 Right UKQwerty:

I'll check all keys against the sheet but for now there are unbound groups and camera hotkeys, camera location hotkey 4 (both create and recall) also seems incorrect.

Edit(s):

1. I presume the keys listed as 'Alt' in the master sheet are Alt GR for UKQerty; these all required changing in-game from Alt to the Alt GR (cntrl + alt) modifier

2. Cams 1,2,3,4 all wrongly binded wrt Master Sheet

3. Another incredibly odd bug and probably the worst; the minimap is no longer clickable, switched profile back to Core 3.0 and standard and both worked fine. Just occurring on 4.0!

4. CG's do not match with the sheet; O,I,L,K,9,0,8,U, Comma, . compared to O,I,L,9,0,K,8,U,Comma,. on the sheet. [Just out of order but still confusing if following sheet]. There is also an extra bind for Steal -6 bound as Alt + J which should instead be on Steal-5 according to sheet and I imagine should be Cntrl + Alt + J for Alt GR kbs?

5. J not assigned as build basic alternate for SCVs

Thanks again for all the work JaK, I may switch from 3.0 to 4.0 just for funsies

@TurgidLeafMan clicking minimap isn't working because Global > Unit Management Move Mimimap Camera needs to be bounds to Left Mouse Button.
@Jak anyway I can help clean up some of these bugs instead of posting them here?

also just wondering what the "Auto-Cast" under alt + 2/- refers to on the spreadsheet

Gotta a problem: when I try to create custom profile (from standard scheme for example), some key are automatically unbind from other unrelated custom profiles, such as TheCore and some of my own too. I'm pretty positive I double check not to save any key bindings during new profile creation to existing profiles. Why is this happening? Can't game handle profiles separately? Any way for work around?

There are a number of things it could be, but my money is on the "Sc2 just changed my hotkeys to standard" bug which happens partially sometimes and completely other times. Been here since WoL but never been addressed

MAKE A BACKUP
This is the only way unfortunately.

All of this is ofc assuming no human error.

No problem thanks again for all the work, I'm having fun relearning from 3.0 to 4.0 anyway despite the penalties for a missclick seeming FAR steeper!! Fat-Fingering a shift-build with SCVs suddenly overwrites all of your control groups o_O

Out of interest, any reason Stim is on ; in the Tech Lab? Seems like J and P are primaries for everything and yet Stim is on ; while concussive is J. Seems like with Weapons and Shields in EBay being P and J respectively, optimal for Stim and Shield would be the same

Edit: Incidentally, another issue with UKQwerty; concussive is on G instead of J with respect to the Sheet

Edit 2: UKQwerty - Smart Servos in Factory TL currently on S instead of ;
