Any thoughts regarding with what exists and what could be better are greatly appreciated as there is a LOT of collected experience on this thread. That is regarding the state of the core with Starcraft II and how this could be compared to other games. I know an attempt was made to make something for Dota II, so instead I'd like to start with better design rather now than later.

Thanks Jak that's good to know. I may try out RRM instead of TRM then so that I can add my middle finger into my unit-group hotkeys. I find it hard to control 3 groups together using only my pinky and index as suggested for TRM. Incidentally if you're interested in feedback, I have changed a couple of keys from the TRM layout since they seemed more appropriate to Terran micro / current meta. 1. Ghost steady targeting switched with EMP (from I to U) - The current meta seems to value snipes over EMP just due to the strength of Ultras and Broods. As such it seems more efficient to have a re-active skill like snipe on the default skill key and a more 'pro-actively' used skill like EMP on the secondary U key. 2. Switched 'Patrol' with 'Stop' (from , to K) - I am only a lowly diamond and perhaps I'm wrong but I rarely use Stop and am much more likely to use Hold Pos (default: 8). As such having the Patrol key closer to the resting position allows for easier Pre-Splitting of marines and occasional reactive splitting vs banes. 3. Cattlebruisers - I dont really care about BCs in the current meta but Im applying the same argument as for Ghosts. Re-active Skill (Yamato) switched with Pro-active skill (Jump) for quicker use of YamCannon if I ever build these godawful units! Thanks again TLM

This is something that they do fix, usually takes a long time though, because they're such a low priority for them. There is probably a name for it somewhere, but you'd probably have to find it in the editor and insert it into your hotkey profile. Something I would have taken care of in the past, but that I don't have time to do anymore. BleuGamer, Awesome!! So good to see more action in the rts space (even if it's not super cereal). The main thing for me is, have every single line of bindable hotkeys in the file. Starcraft only shows the differences from the template used to build the layout (usually standard), and it makes it really hard to hunt down keys. Also! Make all hotkeys accessible from one menu. Currently you have to actually load up a game of co-op to bind co-op hotkeys (unless that was your last game played and you haven't logged off yet). It's insanely frustrating. I could probably think of more, but for now, that's what I've got. It's really just a lot of common sense. TurgidLeafMan 1. good call, making your own meta dependent changes is great! 2. stop is almost never useful, so it ought to be on a pretty far key (far for TheCore, not far for standard. Friend don't let friends build immortals with I) 3. seems pretty reasonable ![]() Thanks for the feedback, all in all looks like you've got a good handle on customizing TheCore. Also! If you're going to Blizzcon, I'll be there, so maybe say hi if you're feeling it. I'd love to be able to chat with some of you all about w/e at Blizzcon :D

So far so good, I'm using ZRM and my hand hurts a little with the drills but I think it's because of how clumsy this feels. I've spent time looking at my hands while using the trainers and I think I have good form with it now. One session of 45m deliberate practice last night and one today of 30m, then I played vs the ai and I'm already managing over half of my average 230 apm. It was horribly clunky at first, but after I wrapped my head around the organization it's coming very quick. The best thing that helped me was repeating the order of location hotkeys out loud until I memorized it. I will probably be back to laddering at full speed in a week. Droning is weird for me still though. J feels awkward, while it does seem to help spread the load on the hand better. I've thought about using zrs with my small hands but it feels too cramped. The presentation isn't quite right with 3.0 as I've seen commented, it's rather difficult to pick through all the info about 1 and 2. I spent close to an hour figuring out what keys do what and what logic is to it. The master spreadsheet is useful after you learn to decipher it. Pig's post a few pages back with his comments on learning it, along with his section in the master spreadsheet are very helpful. Something like the visualizer with a nice graphic would help (DarkGrid had some nice graphics.) I keep having to snap a picture of the hotkeys menu on my tablet in sc2 to remember the control groups/camera locations. The first post is clean but needs a few things shaved out and rearranged. I'd like to thank Jak and the rest of the team for their work on this project, it looks like I'll be able to keep playing because of it. I was getting frustrated on the quest for gm, being close and having to stop practicing from pain. Not a healthy cycle!

![]() I'm thinking about just changing things to what the visualizer says, but if they were changed for a reason I don't want to, plus I want to make everything as similar to what The Core Plus will be as I can because I plan to pick it up.

Getting back into SC2 again and seem to have some discrepencies between the ZRM layout I downloaded and the one on the visualizer (Like not using J for a 1st camera key, and having some things set to ctrl + alt -- I know it mentions this in the FAQ, but I have tried both USQwertys [there are two that don't really distinguish themselves] and they both use ctrl+alt for something, albeit different things). Unfortunately it's really hard for me to grasp all this without the visualizer and I'm going a little bit insane lol ![]() I'm thinking about just changing things to what the visualizer says, but if they were changed for a reason I don't want to, plus I want to make everything as similar to what The Core Plus will be as I can because I plan to pick it up. The visualizer doesn't seem to be up to date. In the master spreadsheet, PiG has a section in the master spreadsheet that shows how he organizes his control groups. The camera locations are the same as these with a different modifier. Repeating the order of the groups out loud as I first started helped a lot. O I L 9 0 K. ctrl+ for army, alt+ to set camera location and shift+ to recall location.

Thanks for the reply! Everything from every action in every mode will be in their respective files, and errors whether syntax or modification of the file will be noted and pulled in game along with fixes or resets. Defaults and custom mods will have it's own file that can be reset through code so the game can't be bricked, and those modifications are as transparent as possible. No proprietary file type or obscure structuring that can't be immediately processed mentally, or we have failed. The launcher itself will have access to each mode available in game, and the hotkeys can be modified and pulled from the menu in order to have everything available in one place in-game as well. I agree that the rts genre is unfortunately very scarce, so I'm hoping to at least set a standard or give hope to future endeavors. I'll post the early alpha as soon as it's available mid-2017. The shut-down of atlas really hurt, and that's what spurred us to start.

Unfortunately the visualizer is not 100% up to date. Anyone who can code in coffeescript would be a welcome addition to the team to help keep the visualizer updated! That said, stick to the files. They are the most efficient version of TheCore currently available. BlueGamer, Awesome to hear! Best of luck to you and the team :D
