it's definitly worth it - just do it Null02 After a few days you proberbly gain first rewards from practice With the Core and staircase together I recently hit the 100EPM anmount pretty easy and macro improved REALLY a lot. - but wrong thread for this :'D - JaKaTak is a god, trust him. Just do it ;D
Shit is a mess, pretty much everyone working on TheCore got busy (especially me) so we haven't been keeping up with the changes in Coop and Camp. On top of that, there are even bigger issues with Hotkeys coming out of Blizzard (especially nova's attack move and lift/land).
The team that was working on the python script to make all the versions has slowed down significantly (I blame myself here for not being as involved as I used to). In the past I've been very controlling with this project, personally overseeing every single tiny change and decision, but I don't have the time to do it anymore (obviously). This is where you come in:
We have one of the biggest threads on TL. There are so many of us. We absolutely have the people power to get this project (including TheCore Lite and TheCore Plus) updated for LotV with 0 motherfucking unbounds. What we need is an efficient way for reporting and organizing unbound keys. What we have to avoid is creating a system where some troll can just come in and fuck everything up. Once we have that, we need a way to more efficiently fix these issues. LotV has been out for almost a year, we need to create a system that allows us to adapt to the infinitely changing hotkeys of Starcraft 2.
Maybe I pay someone to build this system, or finish the code or w/e. Maybe there's enough passionate volunteers that have time to focus on this to get it done. Whatever the solution is, everyone can help.
Current issue list: So many unbounds Updating Spreadsheet to match most recent changes Long term solutions for python script Preview not up to date (coffeescript) Graphics for the OP need updating OP could be better organized/presented Updates for PTR (probably other stuff I'm forgetting)
Updated video needs to be done once above problems are solved (totally on me for script/VO, but help in creating/finding b-roll and editing would expedite the process significantly)
Post your ideas, suggestions, etc. Let's fucking make this happen.
EDIT: Maybe making separate versions for Campaign and Co-op is best. This will depend on the python script being able to handle it. I'm down to up the # of files we provide if it makes multiplayer hotkeys better.
I've been using (aparently) TheCore 1.0, and recetly got back into Starcraft from a long hiatus. I have almost all the hotkeys memorized, but decided to update and try the newest version. It felt really akward, and changed back to 1.0 hotkeys. My question now is, is it better to re learn the hotkey setup with 3.0, or keep with the old one? Also, sadface.jpg for them changing how injects work.
Sup Boos! Stick with the old one, but modify it to add the new things we've been working on! (rapid fire etc). The gain from a Blizz layout to TheCore (any version) is huge, but changing from one version of TheCore to another version of TheCore is a small gain. Hope that makes sense! Feel free to follow up.
Qjasiu You should definitely have an account file in your sc2 folder. Have you not logged in yet? Also, try scan and repair feature on the battle.net client.
Can someone give me suggested uses for The Core 3.0 TRM control groups? I feel like I can't play because I don't know where I'm supposed to put army, CCs, or production. I've looked at the spreadsheet a lot and can't make sense of it (the T. Overview page seems self contradictory: "Macro 2 == "Siege Unit 1"??). The keys are J P ; - [ H ...
P.S. JaKaTaK: I do love using, learning, and thinking about The Core, so thanks for all your work on it.
TheCore is updated! Get your fresh multiplayer files here: https://github.com/JaKaTaK/TheCoreConverter Multiplayer should be all set, we'll be trying to get the camp/coop stuff in line later.
If you have problems with these new files post them here!
Going to try and get them up on the normal download spot tonight, but no promises! Matchmaking for PTR just got released so I'll be mostly playing Starcraft
Thank you for the very helpfull thread that you have made, i just arived to sc and i think i would start with the core. For me would be easy since i have not any experience in the past so i try to learn the core from start.
What worries me is that i started with zerg since i like the race but i see the core has a diferent set up if you decide to play teran or protos? Is that ok ? I mean if i learn the zerg set up i use the ZRM and i want to move to TRM for example for teran that woudl be ok?
Anyway i have to say thanks for all the time community has spend to the Core set up and my greetings to JaKaTaK
Whatever you do, don't switch layouts when changing races. The layouts for each race has been designed to be as efficient as possible for that race, but also contains a similar (though slightly less efficient) setup for all the other races. So you can stick with ZRM and play terran and protoss with it as well.

Thanks i would try to do that , i straggle with zerg atm
Which cam keys are recommended for the bases? like is [O] main, [I] nat, [8] 3rd, etc.? I checked the master spreadsheet, but the cam keys for ZRM 3.0 is different to those on the sheet. Thanks.
the keys in the file are always listed from fastest to slowest, so start at the top (location 1 is for the main) and work your way down (location 8 is for the 8th base if you go all bases). Usually I have 7 cams for bases and 1 for the rally.
A more effective option IMO is to use Camera Location Keys to move from base to base. Then you can have more room for army CGs later and you get free practice using cams every time you inject
