I have been using the "Hotkey Trainer - v1.4a LotV (Unofficial)" map to learn hotkeys. If this map included create control groups/recall control groups and create camera locations/recall camera locations it would be even better. Is there anyone who has experience with the editor that could add these in?
For anyone familiar with the map, there would just be a 5th and 6th selection pylon that would drill you on creating/recalling control groups/cameras.

I am curious if there are any known issues with the ctrl+shift+0 command with Windows 10 in particular. I know there is the problem with disabling the automatic combination in the Text Services and Input Languages in Windows settings. I have already done this and it is still not working. I have been able to resolve this with previous PCs but not this one. Are there any other known issues that could be causing the conflict?
Thanks!
I dont know any other issues that causing this - I can imagin an other programm that cause this so you should test when all other programms are closed this way you know if it is windows or an other programm that you can track down.
I remember I tried this out once a while back but just couldn't get used to it due to muscle memory and kept fucking it up thinking i was still on my old hotkeys.
Eventually I gave up and stuck to the standard hotkeys.
I would recommend this to anyone who just got into ladder though--it would help them out with macro quite a bit.
TheCore 3.0 files at both download locations (Dropbox + Github) have both been recently updated. I compared them and see a lot of differences between them. Which is the "official" one? Who's working on each? Why the differences between them?

It is really tough at first, took me about 4 days to start getting the hang of all races again. If you keep at it, it doesnt take too long. Make sure to follow the suggestions on the spreadsheet, they are really good, and all the custom maps that train you to be better are extremely helpful.

(For reference, I'm using USQwerty RRM v3.0)
All changes are done on the GitHub repo if JaK thinks that it is worth he put the current github version on dropbox there are diffrents between dropbox and github because currently people work on TheCore to fix bugs... you can see in the github commit history who did a change and what was changed
I have a lot of difficulties hitting Alt + Shift with my thumb at the same time. Control + Alt seems difficult as well. Maybe I'm tilting the wrong way? How do you guys do it? I'm using ZRM.
just coming back to this thread after completing the campaign and I see 3.0 is released. I've been using core for about 18 months now, I used the LotV beta keys and kept my settings for full LotV, I used them in the campaign and all was well. Now that I see 3.0 is out I feel it's hard to tell from the first post what is going on with The Core now.
As I see it 3.0 is using the same methods for creation github/dropbox/spreadsheet. Some modifiers have been changed for cameras and new units and there are still a few bugs/decisions on the go. Apart from that I don't know if I should even use 3.0. No offence Jak if you read this, I know you approached the community and asked where to spend your time, and I know you work your socks off for this project and game, it's appreciated. So I don't want to come across as if I'm picking holes but for users who stroll into this post it's not quite clear of the difference history between v2 and v3 in the opening post. Is it worth moving to v3?
If I understood the full extent of differences myself I'd try and knock up a post. I love this system and there's no way I can go back to standard now .
hi i play protoss, but the problem is the same. So i squeezed out my mind and find that solution:
1. keyboard with programmable keys (black widow ultimate) 2. Change "Menu" function into "Rigth Shift" 3. Change "Rigth" Shift function into "Alt" 4. With your thumb you can press "Alt+Shift" and "Ctrl + Alt" only with the thumb
note: Dont put "Alt" instead of "Menu", because "Menu" and "Ctrl" are easy to reach and you will want to use them for Control-Groups functions!
here the mentioned keys on the right bottom side of the keyboard: " < "," > "," / "," Right Shift " " Space "," AltGr "," Win "," Menu", "Ctrl "

I think Alt + shift + <key> are not meant to be used - they are banished keys If you want to use the function bound to those keys feel free to customize your layout Alt + Ctrl + <key> should only be on Right layouts with a AltGr key on the right side instead of Alt - Make sure you pick the correct layout
from OP: Currently Known Unbounds/Misbounds for 3.0 set location keys unbound in keyboard layout with Alt Gr
from OP FAQ for 3.0: 1. Why are add- and create control group so hard to press?
We have decided to replace the binds for add/create with add steal/create steal. We have come to believe the gain in efficiency (faster steal keys) is greater than the loss of utility (shared control groups).
from OP FAQ: 8. Why is x hotkey set to Ctrl+Alt? It is so hard to press. Many Keyboards have an Alt Gr key on the right side and an Alt key on the left side. In Starcraft 2, Alt Gr is represented by Ctrl+Alt. If you do not have a keyboard with an Alt Gr key, you have likely downloaded the wrong keyboard type.
I Also think TheCore is designed to be used without thirdparty programms because they are mostly not allowed in competitive play.
Kommynct, RF inject of old is no more. The new RF inject is a way to dump extra energy by queuing multiple injects, but the base camera is not worth putting into the stock version of the layout. As always, I strongly encourage customization
necrosed, You can use create/steal and add/steal in place of create and add. If this isn't something you want, feel free to swap the current steal commands with the normal ones if you prefer it.
Pinion_, I strongly suggest that 2.0 users DO NOT SWITCH TO 3.0. The advantage is small from 2.0 to 3.0, huge from Blizzard layout to 3.0. Seems you already made your own modifications, I would stick with them if I were you.
xx_grey, See above response to necrosed. I think I was not clear enough that those are banished keys.
Hancho, Keyboard drivers that change keys in a 1:1 ratio have been ToS and Tournament legal since WoL and is still the case today.
Have been using the core now for quite a while and making small customizations that are working out great. However, I was wondering how you are able to add so many alternate key bindings to s ingle command. For instance:
How do you do this? It seems whenever I try, I can only get a max of two bindings (1 primary, and one alternate) for each command!
Thanks again for all the work and awesome hotkey layout!

If you open the hotkey file with notepad or some other text editor, you can add as many alternatives as you like.
Any alternative keys to AltGr-Keyboards on Right-handed mouse for cameras? I'm trying to follow the youtube videos and to start TheStaircase together with TheCore, but I need dem cameras haha
PS: JaK, I love the theory behing TheStairCase method and your dedication to make people improve in the game Thanks a bunch!

@necrosed for cameras, look at the US version and replace alt with alt+control (then apply theses binds to your layout). This will unbind control group functions that have been banished to ctrl+alt, do not worry about it. Use the steal functions for control groups instead

I'm not good at eng. So it would be rude. What's the difference between TheCore Lite and Chameleon? When can I get TheCore+? My opinion for TheCore+ is that add(create) is replaced with addsteal(createsteal). Thx
Guys thank you for your hard work on this keys, the idea is great.
But it's still unclear to me this AltGR = Alt+Ctrl, my english is not pretty well... And I understand this as if I have keyboard with AltGr on the right side of my keyboard and press it in Starcraft 2 so the game actually will interpret it like i press Alt+Ctrl... Am I wrong?
So I have the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2014 keyboard and in Razer Synapse Software when I select my right Alt it shows me that default action for that key is Right Alt, which is the same thing as AltGr according to wikipedia arcticle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AltGr_key.
I've downloaded current USQwerty TRM 3.0, saw the "add to group" hotkeys is exactly alt+ctrl, but in game when i press my right alt it's simply centers the camera, Right Alt+J and other doesn't work at all, nothing is interpreted as Alt+Ctrl when I press my Right Alt, I strongly believe that it's something wrong with my setup or maybe I do not clearly understand what that means:

1. The USQwerty layouts are for keyboards with normal Alt and not AltGr. So I guess your keyboard has not a AltGr key (you can test it when you go into the sc2 hotkey editor and bind a key to your right Alt - if it is labeled as Alt in sc2 than your right alt is not AltGr - if it is labeled Control+Alt than you have AltGr) FYI: If you know you have a AltGr key than USQwerty is not the right layout for you. You can take a look in the KeyboardLayouts.ini and watch for AltGr=1 these layouts are for keyboards with a AltGr key (https://github.com/JaKaTaK/TheCoreConverter/blob/master/KeyboardLayouts.ini)
2.

"add to group" for USQwerty is realy Alt + Ctrl + <key> and not intended to be used.

3. I also understand that the FAQ entry you quote is irritating in this case. In the next version of TheCore "add to group" will be bind to other keys (I think Control+Alt+Shift+<key>)
