I was wrong TheCore 3 does not use Alt + Ctrl + <Key>. This are banished keys This should be fixed in the next version

@Grimwolf1: Do you have a multimedia keyboard, I guess you would call it, with macros and special buttons? Another possibility is that you have a hotkey for switching between input languages? In the latter case check under Control Panel/Region and Language/Keyboards and Languages/Change keyboards/Advanced Key Settings and make sure no hotkey is set for switching language. If nothing helps I would contact blizzard support if I were you, TheCore is not a third party program or anything just some hotkeys, so to me it seems like either a basic problem or something that blizzard support has encountered before. Hope you get things working!
@Hancho: Yupp, Ctrl+Alt have to be banished keys as it's too awkward a combination to press.
@All: The conflict arise on keyboard layouts a with Alt Gr key as their Alt (in USQWERTY) correctly get's translated to Ctrl+Alt and thus have multiple keys with the same bind. The commands in conflict are ControlGroupAppend (that is "probably" not supposed to be used in favor of ControlGroupAppendAndSteal) and CameraSave. For those who want to know more about ControlGroupAppendAndSteal and ControlGroupAssignAndSteal, check out JaK's video: (https://youtu.be/Q8EosfvxnAA)

Hi guys, after a day of using TheCore I am really enjoying it. The hardest thing to get used to for me at the moment is pressing shift with my thumb having got so used to using my pinky for it on the other side of the keyboard.
I am currently using 3.0 RRM for UKQwerty to play Protoss. I have noticed a couple of things with the layout:
- The Disruptor ability was bound to "D". I have changed this for now to "I". - The create camera hotkeys were unbounded. I have changed these to "Alt + camera hotkey".
Question: Should I really be using "Alt" (on the left hand side of the spacebar) to be creating camera hotkeys?
Cheers!

UKQwerty is a AltGr layout - there is currently a bug with xRx versions for layouts with AltGr instead of Alt keys. For now you can bind the cameras to AltGr + camera hotkey (AltGr in sc2 will be displayed as Alt + Ctrl). This will unbound some other hotkeys but there a not intent to be used with TheCore (vanilla). This should be fixed with the next version
Question: Should I really be using "Alt" (on the left hand side of the spacebar) to be creating camera hotkeys?
Cheers! No for xRx the Alt or AltGr on the right "hand side of the spacebar"

@JaKaTaKSc2 Thx again. Can I ask you one more?
RRM3.0 camera is J O L 9 0 ...
Is RRM+ camera J O L 9 0 ... or J P O I ; ... or new?

@Seohce and all with problems:
You will have unbound CameraSave keys if BOTH of these are true:- You have a right handed layout (e.g. RRM, TRS)
- You use any of these versions of TheCore: FrenchAzerty, German, Latin, Nordic, Portuguese-Portugal, Swiss and UKQwerty.
If that is the case and you DO have an Alt Gr key on your keyboard:- Unbind ControlGroupAppend (or move to key combinations you don't use)
- Bind CameraSave to Ctrl+Alt+Key (e.g. CameraSave0=Ctrl+Alt+J, CameraSave1=Ctrl+Alt+O etc)
If that is the case and you DO NOT have an Alt Gr key on your keyboard:- Unbind ControlGroupAppend (or move to key combinations you don't use)
- Bind CameraSave to Alt+Key (e.g. CameraSave0=Alt+J, CameraSave1=Alt+O etc)
If you still have problems you could look at my hotkey file: http://bit.ly/1ORH0dV I use Nordic RRM layout and have an Alt Gr key so if that's not true for you DO NOT use it instead of your own hotkey file. Some of my keys would not correspond to yours but the modifier keys follow the outline above. Also since I have Alt Gr I don't use Alt and so bound the ControlGroupAppend to that. It also contains the following fixes we have already identified: - Added TerranBuild (bind to "I" and the key under P e.g. TerranBuild=I,Grave)
- Added TerranBuildAdvanced (bind to the key left of Shift e.g. TerranBuildAdvanced=Minus)
- Rebinded PurificationNovaTargeted/Disruptor to "I" and "K" (e.g. PurificationNovaTargeted/Disruptor=I,K)
I also added extra hotkeys to CameraSave and CameraView 5, 6 and 7 as was previously used in 2.0. If this is something you've used before and want help with implementing just PM and I'll make a post about it.

Hey there! Sorry for my English - I'm Belarusian A lot excited with this project! Thanks to all who made it! A little question. Are those spreadsheets are not updated for the last version of theCore? I just downloaded it(RTM) and I can see the attack key(and many more) for example are not the same to those in the spreadsheet.(Spreadsheet says it's J, but i see Ö button in the one i've downloaded) Can't understand which of them is correct
|
@Neyr129: Hmm, I can't guarantee that this will work or anything but you should probably download a USQwerty variant of TheCore as that's what's in the spreadsheets. Try the new hotkey file in Starcraft 2 to see if it works.
If it doesn't work right away the easiest way would probably be to add a new US input language. To do that go to Control Panel / Region and Language / Keyboards and Languages / Change keyboards, and then to press Add and choose English (United States) / Keyboard / US, and press OK (http://bit.ly/1KzYOs6). Next navigate to the "Language Bar" tab in the same window and check the "Docked in taskbar". Now select "EN English (United States)" from the new button on the taskbar and try again in Starcraft 2.

@tinder thx for the advice, i had a hot key to a Denmark keyboard with the hotkeys "control-alt" (my add/steal hotkey) didn't even think of that. thanks
|
@tinder Hey man, thanks, I'll try this. Maybe this is because my english layout is f@cked up :D have to check this
|
Tested out PRM (US QWERTY) last night. There's going to be an adjustment period but it feels good. With create/add and steal becoming the new default, is it now impossible to have a unit in more than one CG? I'd like to have my main army (including spell casters) in one big CG but also have one or two CGs used just for certain spell casters. I could just change the layout but I'm curious to see if I'm doing this correctly.
|
@Grimwolf1, Neyr129: Np, hope it works.
@madnessman: Huh, that had certainly escaped my attention but it's certainly a downside to the current default version of 3.0. Personally I use "O" for the whole army so I will try using a regular ControlGroupAppend on that key I think.
Otherwise I suppose if you don't have have an Alt Gr key you would use the default Ctrl+Alt and Shift+Alt. If you do have Alt Gr you could bind either ControlGroupAppend or ControlGroupAssign to Shift+Ctrl+Alt (i.e. Shift+Alt Gr).
|
The only downside I can see to 3.0 is that it will be kind of difficult for me to keep my stalkers in a second control group (as well as in my main army), to snipe Vikings. Any workarounds? Or we just rebind a certain cg to not use the steal function?
|
Ok I understood why I got confused, I watched the outdated spreadsheet for 1.0. But is there one for 3.0 or something like that? I can't understand how to use my CGs with it and some hotkeys differ for 3.0 and 1.0 as I see. First CG in 1.0 is "P" and is used for the main biuldings, i see it's "J" now in 3.0. Should I also use it for main builings or use P instead? And so on :S So is there something like a documentation for this? And another question - should I ever use "create" and "add to group" without excluding(alt+ctrl and alt+ctrl+shift combinations) using theCore? Because they look extremly uncomfortable to use. If i get the idea right - I should always have my casters on the other hotkey? But I am used to have my medivaks in the main army AND on the separate hotkey to pick up tanks for example :c
|
@Neyr129: There is no spreadsheet for 3.0 (at least not yet) but if you want to use it you should download your specific version:- Choose what hand and race variation you want to download (e.g. TRM). If you are uncertain of what that means see http://i.imgur.com/ljTKmo8.png
- Go to http://bit.ly/1ZOiaAR and click on the "USQwerty" folder.
- Download the variation you decided on.
Try to get that to work first and then if the control group questions remain tell us what variation of TheCore you use (e.g. TRM) and whether you have an Alt Gr key instead of your right Alt key or not. I'm afraid the documentation you asked for is this thread and primarily the first post in this thread.

rewtamus, What is a spell key and what is a control group has not changed from 2.0 to 3.0.
Hielo, TheCore 3.0 is not TheCore+. TheCore+ is not done or available yet.
tinder, Each arcade game has a separate set of hotkeys. To be compatible with the arcade we would effectively have to set hotkeys for every single arcade game o_O
Menu keys and replay keys should be set to default for TheCore. They will only be customized in TheCore+
Marre, The move command is unnecessary, you can move toward an enemy unit or building without attacking it by right clicking the ground near it or on the path you want to travel.
_ROG_, If adept were on L in PRM it would not be rapid fire. Making L Rapid fire would mean pushing Feedback (non-rapid fire alternate) to N. There are 5 fast rapid fire keys and 6 gateway units, this means we must not include one unit. The sentry was chosen as the unit least likely to be spammed and most likely to want a specific number of.
It just seems odd that not only was everything moved around for thecore 2.0 users...
Keep in mind that TheCore 3.0 is not made for 2.0 users. It is only made to attempt to be as efficient and ergonomic as possible. We do not consider how long it will take to learn or adjust to when making changes, only what is best in the long term.
FOR EVERYONE We could make L Rapid fire on PRM. We would lose a fast non-RF feedback in favor of a faster adept and a RF-able sentry. Before this was not an option because Chrono needed a non-RF key, but now with the only loss being non-RF feedback, I'm a bit more inclined to go for it.
Pros and Cons, what does everyone think?
reps)squishy, J should absolutely be an alternate for select larva. and nonRF alternate for corrosive bile. Hydra Den changes were an oversight as well.
These will be fixed in the next batch of files. Thanks
youngtrotsky, no idea why that's happening, probably something with the python scripts, on it
brook, currently jpoi; etc
Neyr, make sure you're looking at the correct tab (T. Ability). In TRM, Attack is O https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/140gNhKs_1VCG6JJ9ijvEblKI9UQcpUKDTPap5t_kBeU/edit#gid=2010721057
Where did you find the old spreadsheet? (so i can remove the link)
madnessman, DexLy the default verison of TheCore favors both steal options. This means shared control groups (as you've described) are impossible. Always customize for your personal preferences
|
Hey, Jakatak, thanks for the link! I found it in the first post under the resources tab. It's signed as 1.0 but I didn't even notice that, so I guess it was a good example of inattentive novice There are a lot of links, tabs and videos so when I saw the spreadsheet link - I just clicked it :S. It Would be comfortable to have the link you gave me there or just a sign that there is still no spreadsheet for 3.0. And the second thing that got me confused is the Interactive Demo under the 3.0 FAQ tab. Now I see that there is another title about theCore 1.0, but It's placed after the 3.0 title and it's hard to see when you scroll the page for the first time. Hope it helps!

I have a question regarding RapidFire.
I know that my keyboard (Qpad MK-85) supports this function as I've done the test in a notepad. However, I don't understand exactly how it works and if I need to set up something within the drivers to make use of this in Starcraft? Jak often speaks about "RapidFire" and "non-RapidFire" keys, but how do you actually know which is which?
|
@DexLy: If you want to see your rapid fire keys simply search for TargetChoose in your hotkey file. The rapid fire key allow you to simply hold the key down and it will be as if you were rapidly spamming the same key only much faster. The keyboards repeat delay and repeat rate should be set to short and fast respectively (Control Panel/Keyboard).
As all binds they will be listed in their ID form, and seeing as you're probably using the same keyboard layout as me, you can translate the ID to your actual keys: BracketClose=Å, Apostrophe=Ä, Grave=Ö, SemiColon=¨, Equals=+, Slash=' and BracketOpen=´
@all: I get the "Rapid Fire Inject" to work but can't get the "Rapid Worker Split" to work. Have anyone had any trouble with this? Perhaps it is a LotV change? The idle worker key repeats just fine but the smart command alternative button doesn't spam, even after putting that key on rapid fire too, though that should not be needed according to the video.
|
tinder, the rapid fire smart command has been disabled by Blizzard (it doesn't repeat anymore) since LotV. You can still put rapid fire on the move command if you want to use that for the worker split.
