ah thanks, I'll try that out.
EDIT: Now the rapid move works but it doesn't work together with idle worker. Idle worker seems to always take priority.

Does anybody know how I can change ObserveCommentator through the sc2 Hotkey Editor and/or what the default key is?
Does it something in LotV or is it a old one?

do you mean Hotkeys->Global->Observe->Observe Player #?

Hey, I honestly haven't seen if anyone's mentioned it, but I thought I'd share a control group concept I developed with LotV.

So, if you don't mind dedicating a Control Group for it, you can set a single press hotkey, like "G" to "Create Control Group 0 and Remove from Other Groups."

I never reference group "G." It's exclusively used as a remove from all groups function for me.

Any scouts I deem unworthy of their own group: dump 'em.
Workers end up in my army Control Group? Ctrl Click 'em, dump 'em.

I'm finding more uses for it every day, so I just thought I'd share.

I appreciate you keeping this updated Jak!

thx for your response
The Hotkey is not under Global - I unbound every key there so that the unbound hotkey appears in the hotkey file and it is not there.
maybe a old thing or from a custom map or something - not from multiplayer i think

TrickDunn,

Definitely something we've been considering, very difficult to justify the real estate at the moment. Also cuts into your control groups so you'd have to be okay with 9 control groups instead of 10. Best solution IMO would be unbind CG 10 and replace with this function. In the long run I think this will be a personal modification rather than being included in the stock version. Thanks for sharing! Going to add it to TheCore Handbook I'm working on: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1l1tugzKEUh-jvVczGgt64YSNUIv1p3ETP6yVZ8hQkSI/edit

I think ObserveCommentator just flips through the obervers and is best used with "Player Camera" (the first person view). I must say though I've never watched through an professional observers view before and it was pretty neat if you are content to lean back and watch the action. I also think starcraft adds soft scrolling and possibly changes camera zoom automatically when viewing an observer, try it out.

With the "standard" hotkey setup it's bound to "O" but I can't find it in an in game option.

tinder, the rapid fire smart command has been disabled by Blizzard (it doesn't repeat anymore) since LotV. You can still put rapid fire on the move command if you want to use that for the worker split.

Rapid fire move will work with Phoenixes too , does rapid fire gather work?

That's a great idea. It should work with normal layout, without core, too.
I definitely have to try this as I can see many usefull situations for dumping units out of ctrl groups quickly.

I´ve been having a lot of fun learning (a somewhat modified) The Core 2.0 ZRM.

Starting now to to learn The Core 2.0 TRM, I noticed the keys for cameras and control groups, and the keys for making buildings, training and unit commands, are quite different than from zerg. Is there a rationale for this?

The reason I ask is that I feel inclined to remake the terran and protoss setup to be more in line with that of the zerg - with similar cameras and hotkeys, the same key for the attack command and so on. But given that the setups are the way that they are, there may be a good reason for not doing this

Every race specific layout is tailored for maximum efficiency for that race. Depending on synergies and other things the layouts are a bit different.
If you play mostly Zerg you should probably stick to the Zerg version, it can also be used for infrequent off-racing as the off races are also set up, but with lower priority than the main race.

If you're looking to play all 3 races similarly you should probably take the Random layout, as it's balanced in efficiency in every race and more "allround".

Thanks, got it.

By the way what kind of synergies would that be? I noticed in the terran layout the control groups are kind of organized into two different groups, one around the pinky, the other around the index finger. Whereas for zerg, the groups are more or less in a single block. I guess that´s because you only need a single hotkey for your hatcheries, while for terran and protoss you´d need more hotkeys for macro? I´ll probably find more info about that in the thread.

Edit: I just downloaded The Core 3.0 Nordic ZRM, TRM, PRM and RRM. There doesn´t seem to be any hotkeys for creating camera locations.

Edit2: If you have a mechanical keyboard with a layout like mine, with a fn key and a contextual menu key between the right alt gr / alt key and ctrl keys, it seems to work well ripping those keys out of the keyboard. It makes hitting the right shift key with the thumb of the left hand even easier..

Hello wimp!

If you've learned the zerg layout, you're done! The offraces have been specifically designed to be as similar to the main race as possible. Every layout has a different finger split, 2 fingers will always do control groups, while the others do abilities. For a detailed analysis of our choices for each finger split you can look at the T.Split, Z.Split, P.Split, and R.Split tabs on TheCore Master Spreadsheet (you will have to use the arrows in the bottom right to scroll to the right and see more tabs.)

Hio Mr. Jakatak!

That makes a lot of sense. It did seem hard to switch around between three somewhat similar keyboard layouts, hence my initial questions. But now I get it.

By the way is there a way from within SC2 to switch around the build scv and the call down mule keyboard short cuts? It seems whenever I try to do this I lose a lot of (but not all) other short cuts in the process. But if I recall correctly I succeeded in doing this with the zerg layout.

Conflicts are going to vary from race to race. Changing the key for drone and the key for SCV are very different things.

I have been using the core for quite a while now and am very happy with it. Thanks to everyone who puts so much time and effort into this project.

I am curious if there are any known issues with the ctrl+shift+0 command with Windows 10 in particular. I know there is the problem with disabling the automatic combination in the Text Services and Input Languages in Windows settings. I have already done this and it is still not working. I have been able to resolve this with previous PCs but not this one. Are there any other known issues that could be causing the conflict?

Thanks!
