This is for the core+. Core+ can be any core version with modifier remaps.

shift is where the application keys is and alt is where ctrl is, lastly shift is ctrl.

To answer your question you would press both of them with your thumb.

I have a question to the german layout of thecore:

Why does the spreadsheet list ControlGroupRecall3=Grave and ControlGroupRecall4=BracketOpen when in fact the keys used on the keyboard are "ö" for CG3 and "ß" for CG4?

Strangely the visualiser uses Grave and BracketOpen and you have to press some weird keys for the CGs, but starcraft seems to interpret ö and ß as Grave and BracketOpen (meaning ö and ß activate CG3 and CG4).

??? I use TRM in visualiser and game.

From my hotkeyfile:

ControlGroupRecall3=Grave
ControlGroupRecall4=BracketOpen

From the ingame options:

Why is that? And why does the visualizer behave differently?

The .SC2Hotkeys file is written for US QWERTY. Starcraft 2 then (more or less accurately) translates that to whatever your keyboard localization is.

You seem to be using German QWERTY, so US keys are translated to German keys (more or less accurately). From what I can gather your hotkey file is as intended for the non-modified version of TheCore TRM 2.0. The keys you see ingame are intended, assuming that you are using German QWERTY.

As for the visualizer, could you elaborate how it behaves differently? If you've set Keyboard Layout to German and key inputs does not result in the proper keys being pressed by the Visualizer then I'd assume that's an error on the Visualizer's part.

I use german qwertz and sc2 works fine.

The visualizer seems to NOT do the translation thing. I set german keys and TRM. And I have to press the grave-key for CG3, which is not the "ö" key as should be but the key 2 keys to the right of the zero-key. (CG4 cant be reached at all as the BracketOpen-key can only be reached by use of a modifier.) I think it is a bug in the visualizer; it does not do the translation of the hotkey file. Instead it uses the hotkeyfile as is.

Found this while looking for some kind of translation file for the Visualizer:

Seems to be messed up when I compared US QWERTY and German QWERTZ. This is how it should be (please correct me on this one, if there is something):

Shouldn't it be:

germanClassKeyMap =

US keys:

German keys:

Isn't the grave key on the far left on US keyboards? Where germans have the "^".

You're probably right. I'm not the one with a German keyboard after all. In any case it can be tested; I don't have editorial rights for the visualizer though.

  1. Find your .SC2Hotkeys file. Default location on windows is Documents -> Starcraft II -> Accounts -> ACCOUNT_NUMBER -> Hotkeys.
  2. Open that file with a text editing software like notepad
  3. Find the line "TargetChoose="
  4. For every extra keybinding, add "," and then the key. Special keys like +, -, ´, ' and so on have specific names, but you can test and figure it out.

I already used ZRM for a longer time with hots, no problems there. Today I wanted to try with lotv. As soon as I load up the hotkey profile keys go missing. For example save camera 1 (alt+0) is always missing, sometimes cancel (slash) is missing. I checked the file in a text editor and the keys are there but the game simply won't accept them and after pressing ok they are removed from the file.

LotV adds more hotkeys which sometimes conflict with the ones in The Core. You can go to keyboard configuration and examine conflicts there.

Hi there and thanks for this awesome keyboard layout. The only issue i have using it as Protoss is that i cannot add stuff to my first control group. (which is P)
In the control settings in the game it states correct STRG + P for adding to control group, sadly it does not work. Every other control group works just fine. Same goes for creating a control group. This works with either 1 or more selected buildings without any problem.
Do I miss anything?

decided to try thecore for the first time today PLS(tried M too but i am to used to blind typing and doing f with my right finger), however I am kinda puzzeld by the select all warpgate option, ctrl +alt +shift+ f7/f8 seems like terribly hard to do at a reasonable speed, are you supposed to use your warpgates in an other way? or am i missing something else?

I don't play toss but the spreadsheet says they are supposed to go into control group 1. So that's the way to access them I guess. If you haven't seen it yet, you can find it here

So I have been using a version of 2.0 ZRM for about a year now, and I have switched Add to Add/Steal recently. I think that if you're not using Add/Steal in any way yet you should check out this change. Not using "Add" on its own doesn't have much of a negative impact, and steal is useful in ways that you dont even think of when you first make the change.

As long as you don't put a unit or group of units in multiple control groups, replacing the steal options with the normal ones will work. Otherwise, there's some tricky decision making to do.
