As long as you don't put a unit or group of units in multiple control groups, replacing the steal options with the normal ones will work. Otherwise, there's some tricky decision making to do.

Speaking only as a Zerg player, there aren't many, if any, situations which I've found in which have units in more than one control group is actually better than keeping them all in their own lane. I did try adding steal+add as ctrl+ alt but that was super awkward for me to press, and just replacing them seems to be working out nicely.

On the contrary ,as Zerg I feel that you need to split your units in many different groups, personally I have one group dedicated only to mutalisk, another one to baneling (there the steal CG is very helpful, and in fact in my CG dedicated to bannelings the steal+ADD is Control+1, so the usual one), another for the main ground army and one for the spell caster.

As someone who hasn't played in quite some time, and who had at some point gotten used to the 1.0 core setup, is there a spreadsheet for the ZRM 2.0 setup? I started practicing again with the 1.0, and then tried the 2.0 to get up to speed for HotS controls and found the button layout to be quite different. Am I better off sticking to the 1.0 layout? Should I go ahead and try to learn the 2.0 layout, and if so, where can I find the spreadsheet because it seems to be missing from the US QWERTY section of the dropbox. I apologize if I missed some information in the other 300+ pages and also for being a huge noob with custom keybinds.

The advantages of 2.0 over 1.0 are much, much smaller than the advantages of 1.0 over Standard. In my opinion it is not worth switching, keep using 1.0.

Not sure if the spreadsheets have ever been on Dropbox, in any case, here's a link to 2.0 spreadsheets if you do make the switch: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/140gNhKs_1VCG6JJ9ijvEblKI9UQcpUKDTPap5t_kBeU/edit?pli=1#gid=1422999274

Appreciate the insight. I remember trying to play with standard, and just how much more EFFICIENT 1.0 was. I think when I was still in practice I was hitting the 100+ apm mark, and I'm finally back up around 60-70, so I'm glad I don't have to unlearn all the keybinds I JUST learned.

Now I just have to learn how to scout better and figure out gas/upgrade timings. At least I made it to Harder A.Is...

Having learned to use 1.0 and later switched to 2.0 I can assure you that the switch from 1.0 to 2.0 isn't nearly as demanding as switching from standard hotkeys to 1.0. Took me maybe a week before I felt more comfortable using 2.0 than using 1.0. I am a very casual player though.

On a sidenote:
Struggling to reach 100 apm is likely due to a lack of ideas what to do next (usually happens to me when offracing), unless you are still learning hotkeys. If that is actually the case, the hotkey setup you are using is unlikely to make a big difference. The good thing is: it will improve over time.

Admittedly, I didn't read all the almost 400 posts. So this might be already answered. But I wonder how you developed the core. Did you formulate and solve an integer problem?

Ok Mac users! After spending an embarrassingly long time figuring out how to implement the hotkey layout in Mac OS X (Yosemite, although you should be able to do it with any version), I have figured it out! Since I planned on spending this time making what I can only assume will be a moderately to extremely frustrating process of converting to "TheCore", I figured I would delay my hair-pulling a little while longer to alleviate any undue stress for other Mac Users who may be tempted to give up DL-ing and using this hotkey layout (or any other for that matter), as I was this past hour+.

First, you are going to want to make sure your Library folder is un-hidden, if it isn't already. The past few versions of MAC OS have the Library folder hidden by default (to prevent aimless tinkerers from messing up system settings I assume). The easiest way that I found is to click Finder->Go->Home(should display your username) then click the view menu at top View->Show View Options / Command+J and then click the "Show Library Folder" check box at the bottom. This allows you to access the Hotkeys folder which you may have been aimlessly searching for like some unnamed members of this forum

Here is a link in case you want it -> http://osxdaily.com/2014/12/16/show-user-library-folder-os-x-yosemite/

Next, and this is the really frustrating part if you had to figure it out like I did, you need to modify the file extension in order to have SC/Battle.net recognize it.

The file path (from the OP) for Mac is: Macintosh HD (or whatever your hard drive is called)/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Blizzard/Starcraft II/Accounts

This should now be visible if you did the first part.

Now, even when you save it to the correct location and try to open it, it most likely will not show up in the drop-down menu in your SC Menu->options->controls->hotkeys window. You can try it just to see, but it will most likely not show up. This is because MAC OS is trying to "help" you by considering it a text document (like Gary Leong was trying to say in the OP's youtube channel : "TheCore Download and positioning."

It assigns the Text Edit program as the default application for opening the hotkey file, and this makes it inaccessible to Battle.net/SC. It even adds and extra suffix (.txt) to the file, just to show you how stupid you are for using a Mac. You need to remove this suffix and then you should be good to go.

Note the attached picture! You cannot simply do the slow Mac-style double click on the title to change the suffix. That only changes the actual title of the file, and not the file extension that OS uses to assign default programs, etc. You should not have to change the default program affiliation (Open With-> etc.) But you need to command/right-click the hotkey file and click "Get Info" then manually delete the extra .txt file extension that OS created in THAT window. I have added a screen shot to clarify.

obv, delete the highlighted section (.txt)
I deleted the spaces in the file name of TheCore file that I downloaded during my earlier troubleshooting, but you shouldn't have to do that!

Hit Enter. A pop up will ask if you are sure, hit "Use .SC2Hotheys" and you're done!

Hope this saves you the time I spent! GL HF =)

Hello again,

FIRST THING:
I'm learning TheCore and I find it hard to understand some key mechanical and applications, especially alternatives to GC and cameras.
When I started learning the hotkeys for buildings, it was not until I already knew I read that you had to use different keys to select basic buildings on the finger involved in construction, such as to build a Hatchery or EVO. (ZSR: " and K for Hatch, K and = for EVO). This made me lose learning time. Initially I had learned to build the Hatch with K and K

And my question is...
there is a place where I could learn from 0 without reading every post of this thread? where information is prepared for noobs? more easy than to read all the thread?

SECOND THING:
I'm practicing

Which CG recommended for army and probe? ; for probe and L for army, others?
I guess you have to be moving the probe and looking at the minimap until we see enemy units or alert us a message.
That's rigth?

Thanks so much Max Stout for figuring all that out for Mac. Its a pain in the ass that you've saved a lot of people. Put it in the OP in the DL section.

Estevez (and all other wandering nooblets of TheCore)

Use this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/140gNhKs_1VCG6JJ9ijvEblKI9UQcpUKDTPap5t_kBeU

Its not perfect, its not complete, but I'll do my best to include tricks and other such things that come up in the thread.

I really really want to make a How to learn TheCore video, but at the moment there's wayyy to much stuff going on in my world. Thanks for being patient

I'm making some translations to spanish of basic documents for learn TheCore. It would be interesting to do it together. Anyway, I will try to keep asking in this way and to focus on the things I do not understand.

Hello,
Sorry if this has already been asked before, but I couldn't find any information related to my issue.
Since I upgraded to windows 10, it appears that right ctrl + shift doesn't work anymore : when I try to input it, either to set a hotkeys, or use it, it will behave only as shift + key.
For example, for create control group 1 (core 1.0, ZRS), it's supposed to be ctrl + shift + J. It wont work, and if I try to set it in game, it will only set shift + J. Anyone with the same issue?
Thanks.

Edit : nevermind, solved it. It was actually a keyboard language issue, somehow english canadian wouldn't work with that shortcut....

Same as HotS but there's a separate folder called "Starcraft II Beta" in your documents. (HotS instructions in OP)

Does the file extension have .SC2Hotkeys as in TheCore PRM .SC2Hotkeys?

In the spreadsheet it says to check cell L226 but the rows are hidden, how and the content be changed please?

EDIT: You are supposed to save a version up to google to make the dropdown changes.

Would anyone know why in LotV beta using a YES for LotV a lot of items in the default US, Right, Zerg are unbound?
Example is set rally point.
I'm using the V2 spreadsheet.

Thanks

Sorry JaKaTaK, when I read that back it's as clear as mud .
First, great system, thanks so much of creating it, I probably can't use anything else now.

I've used The Core in WoL, I bought into LotV today and ported over my WoL, it had a bunch of unbound mappings, I went to the v2.0 spreadsheet (first time using is since I just took the 2.0 UK ZRM out of dropbox. On opening the spreadsheet I read the instructions as editing cell L226 to set mouse hand and race. I then figured out you have to do a save as on the sheet to edit the dropdowns. I did and took column F to a new config. When I present it in LotV I immediately get this: http://i.imgur.com/qYmXmq1.png

I'm not sure where the problem is, is it because I'm W10 on UK regional settings since regions other than US are not done yet?

Whilst on about it, is there anything I could do to help you move UK region on, or any other region for that matter?
Thanks again for the best SC2 control system out there!
