Are these changes meant to be backwards compatible with WoL?
The Terran changes have thrown me.TerranVehicleWeaponsLevel1/Armory=J TerranShipWeaponsLevel1/Armory=I TerranVehicleAndShipPlatingLevel1/Armory=K
TerranShipPlatingLevel1/Armory=F TerranVehicleAndShipWeaponsLevel1/Armory=G TerranVehiclePlatingLevel1/Armory=V
With HotS changing/combining combinations of the Ship and Vehicle upgrades I can see why the top three are on JIK, but won't the bottom three mean WoL players have to edit the file?

1st official day using core. I'm a master league random player, now smurfing in bronze against golds trying to enternalize the hotkeys. Still pres the wrong buttons when I go into reaction apm muscle memory mode when attacked. My apm has decreased 50 percent so far dropping to about 100 real apm. Hopefully this will only be a short setback. Interested to see people's feedback on how fast they improved

The first 20 games for me where really painfull. I almost cried. I'm master zerg and was loosing to gold players. Took few hundred games to get fully operationnal. But still using only 3 layered camera, probably wont go further.

Most people I speak to say that the beginning is terrible, (some in more creative ways than others). But once you're done, you'll be much more efficient and faster than before. I do suggest you start by setting all of your base cameras and rally cameras at the beginning of the game (before your first probe comes out) so you're always used to having them available to you.
EDIT:
I'm also working on a video series that explains all the decisions we made with TheCore and why we made them. The "Why TheCore?" video was the first, this is the second:

Is it worth it to switch before HOTS comes out? (since a few new hotkeys will be necessary)

The changes are meant to be compatible with WoL, but it looks like Jak and I accidentally broke these upgrades when making the changes for 0.5.1. I just fixed these in a commit to the github.

(since a few new hotkeys will be necessary) The latest version of TheCore (0.5.1) is compatible with HotS, and we will maintain compatibility as new abilities are added/removed as the beta moves forward. There is normally a couple day lag in between abilities being added and Jak making the necessary updates, but it hasn't been a huge problem.

TheCore is updated and uploaded to the skydrive for all reported bugs

I found that the medium layout righty random had chronoboost and mamaship on k. I don't think this is something I changed but it looks like chrono should be on j.
Also second day now and I'm playing plat league players winning 75% of the time. Apm increased 50% since day 1 but still press the wrong keys and can't keep my money down when attacking
Reaching for m all the time with the pinkey is also something that really scews me up as well as stop being left of attack instead of right.

Is anything changed for PRMM (WoL) in 0.5.1?

Unfortunately the nexus is an attacking building. So it can't use the j key because j is attack.
The pinky will require training, but when you are finished. All will be fast and accurate

All will be fast and accurate I think he's saying that build mothership (WoL mothership) is on the same key as chronoboost now. We'll have to fix that asap

For WoL, you'll probably want to change chronoboost to be on j. However, to avoid conflicts, I have moved Build Mothership to the same key as Build Mothership Core in HotS. While this means that Chronoboost is not optimal by default in WoL in 0.5.1, it also means there won't be a conflict (preventing you from chronoboosting) either.
Fixed in the latest git commit.

Can someone please explain why there are both hatcheries and queens are on the P control group? I guess I just don't understand what P* means

P* is a layered control group which can be selected by hitting "Shift+P" (to select queens) as opposed to "P" to select hatcheries This allows the inject method to work for the core where you hold shift then hit P (to select queens), O (to bring up inject), ; (to go to basecam 1), click (to inject), l (to go to basecam 2), click (to inject), k (to go to basecam 3)...etc As detailed in "How do I do larva injects with TheCore?" in the FAQ in the OP.

Hey hey, this is for all of you looking to get off on the right foot with TheCore, and to show to people learning starcraft for the first time. You'd be surprised how long it takes someone to learn these first basic steps without help.
|
I've watched the inject video a ton and I still don't get it. I am ZRM. I click a queen, hold alt, and press open bracket, but shift P does not select the queen. Am I doing it right?

Craaaaaaaaaaaaap, I need to remake that video because the patch changed the Layered CG... Sorry! I'll get it up ASAP!

There is a helpful thing in the OP for the location on a Mac, but on PCs it is in
Documents/Starcraft II/Account ID/Hotkeys (I'm doing this from memory, not exactly sure if that's 100% right). Once you put the file in the right folder, it'll appear as an option to select in the in-game Hotkey editor.
No, there is no way to customize the UI to re-arrange the order of the icons. It'll be tough adjusting, but you can do it!
